Vedic Astrology Report for April 2020

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

We are experiencing an unprecedented time in the world, so below are the significant astrological events that preceded the current challenges we now face. From January 8 to 15, 2020, a Saturn/Pluto conjunction occurred at 28 degrees Sagittarius, initiating a time of external pressures and increased insecurities, as we uproot outworn structures. However, the purpose of this conjunction is to help us let go of the obsolete in life, clearing the way for new growth and large scale change.  Rebirth and deep transformation will be the end result. We may experience some control issues and inner conflicts along the way as we surrender to a more authentic and truthful expression. We discover that we are much more capable and courageous than we realize.

In addition, the nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu are now transiting the more difficult nakshatras of Ardra and Mula, which began February 11 and will end April 22, 2020. These nakshatras can create sorrow, tears, and financial concerns, and bring events take us to the core of our being. But they also amplify greater compassion and healing energies too, and this is what we must focus on. The last time the nodes were in these nakshatras was during the period of September 11, 2001.

There are three major planets now transiting the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn: Saturn, Mars, and Jupiter. Capricorn is a sign that favors discipline, determination, organization, and hard work. Capricorn’s shadow is too much emphasis on control and convention, and some pessimism. Saturn has been in Capricorn since January 23, 2020, Mars entered this sign on March 22, 2020, and Jupiter just began its transit through Capricorn on March 29, 2020.

Both Saturn and Mars are powerfully placed here – Saturn is transiting its own sign, and Mars is transiting its sign of exaltation.  Saturn and Mars can give strength and endurance, and very concentrated will-power, which we need now.  Mars is a planet of bravery and action, and Saturn can bring caution and restrictions. Saturn can delay the action-oriented Mars and slow it down.  We can experience inconsistencies in our energy level and have issues getting things done. So this is a positive time to work with self-discipline, have a healthy daily routine, take joy in the simple things in life, and get plenty of rest.

Jupiter, now transits its debilitated sign of Capricorn for three months, from March 29 to June 29, 2020, where it joins Saturn and Mars. Jupiter does experience some reversal of its debility with these two planets which is helpful. Jupiter, a planet of expansion and prosperity, is now in the restricted Saturn-ruled sign, indicating a need to be more practical with finances, and plan realistically. Our hopes and dreams are tempered by realism. This is a very important time to find for your true spiritual values. Help those in need the best you can. Work with more authenticity and transparency in your life. Be humble and bring more compassion into your heart and when being with others.

Venus, planet of love, relationship, finance, the arts, and healing, transits Taurus, its own sign, the whole month of April, meaning Venus is quite happy and powerful now.  Venus will be in Taurus a long time this year, due to going retrograde in May. Venus in Taurus can bring forth our artistic and creative talents now.  We may find that music or sound healing is a calming influence in these challenging times. All of our relationships, whether with friends or family, are truly of great importance to us, and we are grateful for the support and love we share. Venus in the earth sign of Taurus can also generate more interest in gardening, growing your own food, using natural remedies, or just appreciating Mother Nature.  On a financial level, security is a big focus.

Mercury briefly transits its debilitated sign of Pisces from April 7 to April 24, 2020, which brings greater sensitivity and intuitiveness in how we communicate with others. Saturn in Capricorn will aspect Mercury in Pisces at 7 degrees on April 11, 2020, indicating a need for more responsibility and directness in our communications. There could also be restrictions or delays in travel. Use more discernment and develop proper boundaries when Mercury transits Pisces. Remedies are meditation, pranayama, and journaling.

The Sun begins its yearly transit through Aries, its exalted sign, from April 13 to May 14, 2020. We feel more empowered, ambitious, and are self-initiating. The Sun in Aries is very pioneering and enthusiastic. But watch for impulsivity and not planning ahead.

Akshaya Tritiya (a very auspicious day in the Vedic calendar) occurs on April 25, 2020 this year. This day is third lunar day of the waxing Moon that occurs either in April or May, when the Sun and Moon are both exalted, generating very favorable solar and lunar energies. According to an ancient legend, this is the day when the sacred Ganges River descended to earth from heaven. This is considered a very auspicious day for starting new activities that you wish to grow, prosper, and endure.
