The Importance of Getting a CCNA Certification

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is an internationally acknowledged and accepted certification,and many employers will prefer to work with those with a CCNA certificate as opposed to those without. Studies have shown that a CCNA-accredited professional earns 20% more than their colleagues without the certification. A person with CCNA certification is recognized as an entry level professional with knowledge in both networking and computer systems. He or she can provide IT services at a helpdesk, be an analyst in an IT department, can go to the field and troubleshoot networking systems and devices, and perform any basic network related job. Other prestigious careers that a CCNA certificate can come in handy include:

  • CCNA / CCNP Network Support Engineer
  • Network Analyst
  • Network Security Expert – CCNA/CCNP Security

There are many CISCO certified online institutions such as e-Careers or physical institutions where one can get started on their path to CCNA certification with a CCNA course. Once one is CCNA-certified, there are many CISCO courses that he or she can undertake. One can specialize in different areas of networking such as security and routing (CCNA Security), voice (CCNA Voice), wireless (CCNA Wireless) or CCNP.

The field of networking is broad, and there are some CCNA courses or CISCO accredited courses that a person can specialize in. They include:
