In this edition of The Trews, Russell Brand talks about the new documentary “Amy” based on the life of the Uber talented Singer and addict, Amy Winehouse.

Russell, was a friend of Amy's and is a self-proclaimed former addict. In this video, he courageously examines some deep questions as to whether the talented young Londoner could have been saved. Openly admitting that he probably could have done more for her himself, Russell also questions the potentially lethal role our media-voracious culture may have played in Amy's demise.

He ends the video with a couple suggestions of things you can change as a consequence of learning from Amy's tragic death.

1. Change the way you consume media — according to Russell, the culture that currently exists around celebrity and fame is “a vampiric, canabalizing system that wants it’s heroes and heroines dead so it can devour their corpses in public for entertainment.”

2. Treat addicts and people with all forms of mental illness with more compassion.
