1. Gingered Crab Phyllo Dumplings

These Asian-style triangular dumplings made of crisp, light phyllo pastry envelop a ginger-flavoured filling of crab, water chestnuts and corn. They look and taste wonderful, and are surprisingly simple to make. Prepare them ahead for a party, then bake just before serving with a sweet chili dipping sauce.

2. Stuffed Mushrooms

These mushrooms are filled with a delicious mixture of finely chopped zucchini, spinach and hazelnuts, then topped with grated Parmesan cheese and baked for delicious, hard-to-resist party bites. They look their best if the mushrooms are all about the same size.

3. Spicy Date, Apple and Cheese Dip

Their natural sweetness makes dates an excellent ingredient for desserts, cakes and chutneys. Here they are cooked until thick and smooth with an apple and aromatic spices, then blended with cream cheese to make a sweet and spicy dip for fresh fruits and vegetables.

4. Caramelized Onion Tartlets

The shells for these tartlets are made by pressing pieces of bread into muffin tins. The shells are brushed lightly with melted butter and baked until crisp. 5. Fig and Walnut Amuse-Bouche

For a simple yet stunning appetizer, these bite-sized morsels are incredibly delicious. The combination of fresh figs, prosciutto, Gorgonzola cheese and walnuts is exceptionally good.
