New Zealand’s Defence Force has finally released the country’s collection of UFO reports it had gathered since the early 1950’s. As reported previously here at Conscious Life News, the requested files were promised to be released by the end of this year. Though none of the reports were officially investigated by the government over the years, the disclosure of the documents has been long awaited by many.

The files number roughly 2,500 pages in 12 volumes. They have been digitally scanned and are available to view:

Included in some of the accounts are witnesses’ drawings of flying saucers, examples of alleged extraterrestrial writing, and descriptions of aliens.

One of the most anticipated files concerns the world famous Kaikoura sightings of 1978 in which strange lights off the South Island town of Kaikoura were witnessed and later filmed by a television crew aboard a plane in the area. Air traffic controllers also noticed an unidentified craft on their radar, confirming an object that an airborne pilot claims tracked and followed his plane. However, the information in the now public documents about the Kaikoura incident don’t provide any conclusive answers.

Suzanne Hansen, a researcher who spearheaded the campaign to gain access to the documents, told Television New Zealand, “It is obviously something else we can’t explain. We don’t know what it is, but it is certainly something that is unidentified and non-conventional.”

The Kaikoura story was comprehensively explained in a news broadcast two years ago, on the 30th anniversary of the event. Watch the video:

The original physical copies of the UFO documents are to remain sealed in New Zealand’s national archive, some until the year 2080.

A mainstream news broadcast detailed the recent release of the UFO files:
