Why Don’t I Want To Do Anything?

How To Become More Motivated

Disclaimer: The following post is simply my interpretation of Abraham’s message in the above video. I try to ‘pull out’ what I feel to be the most important points as I see them. Others may have different opinions or insights from the video and it is for everyone to decide for themselves how they wish to interpret the words which are spoken.

In the above video an audience member states that when he feels happy he does not feel motivated to work on his business. He asks Abraham, “Why don’t I want to do anything?”

I found this surprising as for me the opposite is true; it is at times when I feel unhappy that I feel less motivated to take action.

Priming the Pump

Abraham observes that the majority of us prevent ourselves from gaining momentum as we have ‘split energy’. We think about something we want, and in order to motivate ourselves, we often think about the consequences of not doing the action which can bring about the desired outcome. This causes a negative thought.

When we do this we are building negative momentum, which is the exact opposite of that which we want to achieve. Law of attraction always responds to our vibrational output, which is the thoughts we are thinking, and so in order to build positive momentum we must think in a positive manner.

The Power of 16 Seconds

When we think a thought for just 16 seconds another similar thought will then join it, as will another after another 16 seconds. If we can but hold onto these positive thoughts for as little as one minute our energy starts to flow freely and the law of attraction and true momentum will kick in.

Abraham urges us not to confuse motivation with forcing ourselves to do the work. He uses the analogy of holding a cork under water. A cork will naturally bob about on the water freely and gather momentum. If we use force to hold it under water we are going against its natural course. If we just let go it will naturally float straight back up to the top again with ease.

Tend to Your Seeds

Another analogy is used of a farmer planting seeds. Once the seeds are under the ground the farmer can no longer see them, yet he knows they are still there. He knows with certainty that if he waters them and tends to them that corn will surely grow.

We, on the other hand, look at what is present in our lives NOW and we fail to see what is already there waiting for us in our vortex, and what is evolving. If we cannot see it we do not believe it and this, in turn, slows down our momentum and ultimately the manifestation of our desires.

If we can but be willing to accept and know it is already there for us in our ‘vibrational escrow’, we will begin to feel inspired and energised and the passion to take action will occur.

I want it… BUT!

No more thinking, “I want it, BUT…”.

To become inspired to take action we must:

  • Stop trying to ‘force things’ by thinking about negative consequences.
  • Always care about and tend to the way we feel.
  • Remember the 16-second ‘rule’.
  • Not cause ‘split energy’ by contradicting our thoughts and slowing down positive momentum.
  • Know and believe without any doubt that just because we cannot see what is in our vortex it IS assuredly there for us and waiting to manifest.
