Editor’s Note: this is the third installment of this short series of articles by Jill Mattson. Check out the first one at “Sound – Its Influence on Civilizations.”

I hope you find them as enjoyable and enlightening as I have.We have explored the powerful influence of the music of the Lumerians Atlanteans, Egyptians and the ancient Chinese populations. We noted that their music used intervals (and other methods) to incorporate a signature number into their music. We shall go forward in time and look into the Greek music and the early Middle Ages… and see just how music influenced these civilizations.

In the Greek epoch, tetra chords (two groups of four notes each) created modes, which resembled our scales. These modes, or sound-formulas, characterized personalities. The scales were even named after people who preferred its mood. According to Steiner, the Greek musical system enabled “spiritual energy to descend to a greater extent so mankind could see the world primarily through a physical body.”

Control of music shifted to the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages. Initially adopting the Greek modes, they later dropped all but two, renaming them “major” and “minor.” Music in this period was a series of ongoing tones. An “amen” was added on the end of Gregorian chants, creating musical endings and the concept of a beginning and ending in a song.

Earlier writing suggests the sound of the first and third note of a scale sounded together (so harmonious today) was shrill and hard to listen to. As the Middle Ages progressed, the third interval became a staple of harmony, and chords using the 1/3/5 notes of the scale flourished. Music incorporated a large amount of third intervals.

In a more recent time, the jazz sound introduced a chord with the seventh note of the scale added (this creates a musical two Interval), and was considered to be outrageous, scandalous and “the music of the devil.” Today, jazz is not considered sinful, or even racy, but is relegated to soothing elevator music. This suggests that populations get used to new sounds, and in essence harmonize with them. Esoteric writing suggests that such harmonization transitioned people’s consciousness and life experiences.

Next message we will wrap up the discussions about signature numbers in music, and their changing influence on people.

Sound – Its Influence on Civilizations – Part 2

Editor’s Note: this is the second installment of this short series of articles by Jill Mattson. Check out the first one at “Sound – Its Influence on Civilizations.” I hope you find them as enjoyable and enlightening as I have.

Last week we chatted about how the music of the Atlanteans and the Lemarians shaped their earthly experiences. Shall we travel on in history?

The ancient Sumerian epoch boasted of a musical system built on the interval of six of our notes. Persian cosmetology (mingled with writings about Zoroaster) reflect that music escorted man towards a connection with the next lower hierarchy of spirit, the “Planetary Logos,” providing a spiritual experience.

Increased historical documents shed light on music of ancient Egypt and China. Music was believed to be a powerful controlling influence on the population. The rulers governed, regulated and policed the music people heard. By controlling the vibrations that people were exposed to, officials believed they yielded a strong influence over people. They had the same behavior with their art. For three thousand years the art of the Egyptians looked the same. That was no coincidence.

Ancient Chinese rulers believed that each musical note was a connection to the Divine. The rulers orchestrated concerts with 10,000 players, making plentiful and powerful connections to the Divine. In a current example, the Latvian country of Estonia sponsors a weeklong songfest every five years. These historic concerts boasted of half a million singers…a good showing for a country of only one million people. Many credit the historic courage of this tiny nation in their struggles for independence to the energy created by this vitalizing, musical experience.

Ancient Chinese music centered on twelve notes. Each note was five of our notes apart and was referred to as the “Lu Scale.” They correlated their music to five directions (including center), five elements, five colors etc. Musical sounds floated like the sounds of wind chimes, with no beginnings or endings. Tones still descended and were said to augment the “imagination.”

As the stars in the skies journeyed across the horizon, their changing energy was influenced people. The Chinese music or “musical astrology” changed throughout the year, providing support for personal and emotional challenges caused by the vibrations of planets in motion in our solar system. This musical feng shui varied as energy in nature changed, providing a balancing mechanism for the population! Instruments made out of the various elements were played at certain times, further engineering the balancing effect of the music.

So far we have seen civilizations with music designed around a “signature” number. The numbers starting with the oldest civilizations have been: 9, 7, 6, 5. More in the next letter!

Musical Icon Steve Miller Becomes Whistleblower at Rock Hall of Fame

By Ray Waddell | Billboard

music

Steve Miller is not a grumpy guy. Miller, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on April 9, has been at the center of a media cyclone ever since due to some rather inflammatory comments he made in an interview with Rolling Stone immediately following his induction by the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. In the interview, Miller not only called the induction ceremony “unpleasant,” but went on to slam the whole music business. Sample sentence: “This whole industry fucking sucks and this little get-together you guys have here is like a private boys’ club and it’s a bunch of jackasses and jerks and fucking gangsters and crooks who’ve fucking stolen everything from a fucking artist.”

OK, then. In another post-ceremony interview with Rolling Stone, Auerbach told the magazine that he regretted inducting Miller, adding that “the most unpleasant part was being around [Miller].” Hall of Fame CEO Joel Peresman also responded to Miller’s comments, defended the Hall, and said he “felt badly” for Miller. So, this has been fun.

On a follow-up interview with Billboard, Miller is far from unpleasant. He laughs frequently, and doesn’t back down.

However unpleasant his evening was, Miller’s Hall of Fame credentials are undeniable. A native of Dallas, Texas, Stevie “Guitar” Miller became a pivotal figure in the late ’60s San Francisco music scene that profoundly impacted rock and roll. By the ’70s, the singer/songwriter/guitarist had evolved from a bluesy, groove-based sound that would fit seamlessly into today’s jam band scene to a more radio-friendly pop rock style that produced a wealth of hits still ubiquitous on classic rock radio today, including “The Joker,””Fly Like an Eagle” and “Take the Money and Run.” Miller is also contributing his time to serving on the welcoming committee of the Department of Musical Instruments of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, and as a board member of Jazz at Lincoln Center, where he curates and hosts shows at both institutions.

But, this past week, all of the talk surrounding Miller — and there has been a lot — has been centered on his take on his Hall of Fame induction. In an exclusive interview withBillboard, he explains that night, the resulting fallout, and what the proceeding week was like. Not surprisingly, he told us exactly how he feels about the whole thing.

Billboard: So, it’s been a pretty interesting week, no?

Steve Miller: Pretty action packed, yeah.

Billboard: How would you describe your week following the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony?

Steve Miller: The last week has been pretty interesting; I played three concerts in New York at Jazz at Lincoln Center with Jimmie Vaughan; I did the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony; and now I’m in San Diego. Tonight will be three shows that I’ve done in the last four days out here on the West Coast. The Steve Miller Band is busy, the Jazz at Lincoln Center projects have been great, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was just one of those things in the middle.

Billboard: Has the reaction to your comments following your Hall of Fame induction surprised you?

Steve Miller: Well, not really. I’ve gotten hundreds of emails from artists and pals and peers just saying, “right on, man, I can’t believe you had the balls to say that,” that kind of stuff. The reaction from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Rolling Stonemagazine has not surprised me at all.

Billboard: I imagine you were aware when you were saying the things you did that some of it might not go over so well.

Steve Miller: You have to speak truth to these people. It has really been a long, long slog for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and for some reason, I don’t understand why, they really have made it tough. It’s not a pleasant experience for the people being inducted — at least from my personal experience it certainly wasn’t. The whole process feels like you’re dealing with a company that wants you to give them everything and they’re going to go make all this money and they’re going to do everything with it, and you have no input into it, no say about any of it, take it or leave it. Probably what the general public thinks and what it really is are two different things.

Billboard: You said some pretty harsh things, do you stand by all of that?

Steve Miller: Of course I do, yeah. I spoke the truth as I experienced it, and as I have experienced it over the years. Basically, as everybody that has had a taste of the record business knows, they aregangsters and crooks. The history just proves it. If you’re naïve as a musician when you go into it, you learn your lessons quickly. I remember when I was a kid and signed with Capitol Records I thought, “boy, this is great, I’m going down to L.A., I’m going to record at Capitol tower.” I went in there and the engineering staff walked out because they didn’t like me because I was a hippie [laughs]. That was my first experience. I was thrown into a pool of sharks, where all the bands were fighting for the same resources, managers were wheeling and dealing, and it was a lot more than I thought. I was pretty naïve when I started and, over the years, my record companies have grossed over $1 billion from my work, and I’ve spent 50 years auditing them to force them to pay me what my contracts call for. I caught them illegally selling hundreds of thousands of my records in markets worldwide. They’ve broken their contracts, they’ve broken their word. They have built-in theft in all their accounting. I’ve had to threaten to use the RICO statutes against them. It’s a business with built-in theft and cheating, that’s just considered normal, and I’m just not the kind of guy who tolerates that, I don’t go for that. If it’s not fair, and if it’s not clean and clear, then I’m going to work to make it that way.

Billboard: So that billion dollar figure you used in theRolling Stone interview you didn’t just pull that out of thin air?

Steve Miller: [Laughing] No! And that was when a billion was a billion, not like today. Millions and millions and millions of records worldwide, it’s just been 50 years of auditing and arguing and lawsuits. I’m just a walking library of what it’s like dealing with a business that’s designed to cheat. It always has and it always will.

Here are just some of the cancer facts you’ll discover in the series:

— At least half of all cancers and cancer-related deaths are preventable

— Less than 5% of cancers have a genetic link

— The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the foods we eat are just some of the environmental factors that increase the risk of cancer

— More than 90% of all lung cancer cases are caused by smoking. However, The Truth About Cancer claims that only a few of these cases are caused by tobacco, and most cases are linked to the chemicals used in the process of making the cigarette itself.

— Sleep deprivation, which involves sleeping less than 6 hours per day, can increase your risk of colon cancer

— Popular cold cuts, sausage, and hot dogs contain nitrates like sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate, both of which are chemical additives used for flavoring and preservation. When you prepare these foods with high heat, the fluids in your body can react with these nitrates, turning them into nitrites, which are known carcinogens (cancer-causing chemicals). Nitrates are also prevalent in our groundwater, where they’re filtered through fertilizer.

— One of every 8 deaths around the world is caused by cancer. More people die from cancer than malaria, tuberculosis, and AIDS combined. Cancer is more common in developed countries due to a combination of diet and lifestyle.

— People age 55 and older have a higher risk of cancer, and approximately 77% of all diagnosed cancers are found in men and women over the age of 55

— Obesity increases your risk of cancer and obese people are far less likely to survive cancer treatment

— Ovarian cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer are often symptomless until spreading to other parts of the body, which is why early screening is important.

— It’s a “popular myth” that exposure to the sun causes skin cancer. The Truth About Cancer claims that you should not use sunscreen, because it causes cancer and filters out “helpful” ultraviolet light. Instead, you should be in the sun for 30 minutes of the early morning or late afternoon to get your recommended daily dose of vitamin D without burning in the sun. The Truth About Cancer claims that a chemical called octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC) found in 90% of sunscreens has been shown to cause cancer and damage the liver.

— Healthy cells will commit “cell suicide”, also called apoptosis, when they become damaged, but cancer cells do not have this ability for an unknown reason. The Truth About Cancer claims that certain foods “can naturally trigger damaged cells” to self-destruct via apoptosis. Those foods include green tea, berries, turmeric, avocados, garlic, kale, and dark chocolate, among others.

Sound – Its Influence on Civilizations

By Jill Mattson | * Jill’s Wings of Light

music

For the next several weeks, let’s jump into how sound and music controls the consciousness of the civilizations. Can you imagine that music could control entire populations? Pretty crazy, huh?

Ancient people firmly believed that tiny, invisible vibrations (such as music) affected people’s thinking, emotional and even their physicality! “Vibrations, or sounds, can control civilizations!” wrote ancient officials. An outrageous idea at first glance, but many ancient dynasties lasted thousands of years, while we grow tired of our president in merely four years.

Esoteric societies guarded this data, believing that whoever knew it could control people and for the wrong reasons! They refused to document this secret information. Esoteric students were divided according to their moral and psychic advancement into categories such as initiates, disciples, adepts and masters. This knowledge was limited to verbal discussions among proven adepts and masters …safe guarding this powerful information.

Each esoteric school divulged a few secrets, but I read about so many, I accumulated a wealth of diverse vibratory knowledge. Merely considering these ideas exponentially increased my understanding of the power of music!

Science confirms that sound is effective in entraining brainwaves, which control our state of consciousness. Pretty powerful. Clearly sound and music makes us feel, as we tap our toes to a lively beat and slow down with meditation music. BioAcoustics makes it clear that sounds can also alter our physicality!

Science can confirm that sound does influence us, body, mind and soul. Now the next question…Did ancient people know how to alter music and sound for targeted purposes to control people? What are the rules? How does this work?? Is it being done to us now????

Sparse writings from Rudolf Steiner discuss the musical system of the ancient Lumerians and Atlanteans. The earlier civilization, the Lemerians, listened to a descending musical scale, in which the smallest distance between adjacent tones was equivalent to nine of our notes! This music connected the listener with the “Divine.”

Later, the Atlanteans claimed to enjoy a descending musical scale with the notes closer together, yet neighboring notes still encompassed seven of our musical notes. The Atlantean music connected man to his own “Divine Spirit.”

In order to hear Lemerian or Atlantean music, one would need to be clairaudient, as only few notes would be in our hearing range. Steiner suggests that man had not “involved” into matter to the extent that we have today, enabling people to hear clairaudiently.

In the next several posts I will go through ancient music and “sound” secrets of ancient mystery schools to see if we can understand how sound can control people!

Revealed: Tribeca Film Festival May Have Connections to Nazi Agenda

By Mike Adams | Natural News

RobertDeniro&GraceHightower-TribecaFilmFestival-680x380

With a massive backlash now mounting against Robert De Niro for censoring an independent film on vaccines, the Tribeca Film Festival has been subjected to intense scrutiny across independent media as journalists seek to discover who got to De Niro and what did they threaten him with?

After being threatened by vaccine industry totalitarians and science bullies, De Niro blackballed the VAXXED documentary from the Tribeca Film Festival, playing right into the hands of state-run medical propagandists who are all pro-vaccine.

This betrayal of a powerful, historic indy film has not gone unnoticed by the people of America. In effect, Robert De Niro has become a traitor to his own film industry that was founded on freedom of expression. He has just announced to the world that any film which dares challenge the official narratives of criminal vaccine corporations will be blackballed at Tribeca and not allowed to see the light of day.

But far beyond that, we’ve now learned that the Tribeca Film Festival has a strategic partnership with the Nazi-linked Sloan Foundation, founded by Alfred P. Sloan, a Nazi collaborator and hater of blacks and Jews. Sloan, much like Bill Gates, was a globalist eugenics promoter who believed in eliminating the “undesirable” people from the planet, leaving only a superior race in charge.

A Zen Gardner article also reveals how the Sloan Foundation held corporate stock in the Merck corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer of vaccines:

Industrialist Alfred P. Sloan, as head of General Motors, was a Nazi collaborator, and ardent admirer of Hitler. Sloan’s hatred of blacks was almost as intense as his hatred of Jews. He had a close connection with the eugenics movement which eventually became the Human Genome Project. The Sloan Foundation, together with the Rockefeller nexus, held a long standing interest in population reduction, including their involvement with the introduction of mysterious new vaccines together with the World Health Organization, which has a stated policy of population reduction, as clearly set forth in Agenda 21. (truthaboutagenda21.com).

This dubious enterprise led to a massive vaccine initiative to vaccinate against relatively rare tetanus in The Philippines, Nicaragua, and Mexico. These vaccine vials, distributed by the WHO, were found to contain hCG, which when combined with tetanus toxoid carrier, stimulated formation of antibodies against human chorionic gonadotropin, rendering women incapable of maintaining a pregnancy and potentially inducing a covert, involuntary abortion. Population control under the cover of health care. (ethiofreedom.com).

This seemingly altruistic Sloan Foundation also funded the Community Blood Council of Greater New York, Inc., which allowed more than 10,000 hemophiliacs and countless others to become fatally infected with HIV/Aids. Moreover, The Sloan Foundation held 24,000-53,000 shares issued by Merck and Co., whose president George W. Merck was director of America’s biological weapons industry and whose Hepatitis C and polio vaccines have been suspected of transmitting AIDs; and who knows what else. (Population Control: Aids/Ebola and other man-made diseases, S.R. Shearer, July 29, 2014). Dr. Leonard Horowitz’s seminal work, Aids and Ebola: Nature, Accident or Intentional, contends that both Ebola and Aids were bio-engineered by scientists working for the CIA.

The Sloan Foundation is currently headed by Paul Joskow, a member of the global elite who’s also a key leader of the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations), the same group that includes all the corrupt banksters from Goldman Sachs and the Federal Reserve. In all, globalists like Joskow and Bill Gates seek to rid the planet of excess human population, and vaccines are the key element for accomplishing this task, which is exactly why covert sterilization chemicals are being routinely hidden in vaccine test runs deployed in Africa, furthering the goal of genocide against blacks (and it’s all WHO-approved, too).

Living in the Age of Transparency

We are all living in a transition time, moving out of the Age of Secrecy for humanity, and into the Age of Transparency where all the dirty secrets of the globalists, the vaccine corporations and the false front group non-profits are eventually exposed.

Nearly all the large disease non-profits (cancer, diabetes, etc.) are actually front groups for Big Pharma. Nearly all the vaccine research being conducted today is scientifically fraudulent. AIDS vaccines, for example, were promised to humanity in the 1980s, yet decades later, they still don’t exist and don’t work. Prominent AIDS vaccine researchers have been found to be criminals committing outright scientific fraud and fabrications. From Natural News:

A scientist from Iowa State University who admitted to lying about the efficacy of a vaccine he helped develop for the AIDS virus has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison, according to new reports. Dong-Pyou Han, 58, recently confessed to altering blood samples to make it seem as though he’d made a huge discovery on the AIDS front, only to be later outed for flagrant scientific fraud.

Besides his prison term, Han will also be forced to pay $7.2 million in fines to the federal government after entering a plea agreement back in February, in which he admitted to two counts of making false statements.

As we reported back in February, two former Merck scientists who filed a False Claims Act against the company back in 2010 had came forward with evidence showing that Merck tampered with study data and ultimately lied about the safety of the MMR vaccine. Like Han and his colleagues, Merck scientists tampered with blood samples in order to artificially induce a fake antibody response, all in order to create the illusion that MMR is safe and effective.

Robert De Niro following in the footsteps of Joseph Goebbels

Today, just as Americans are waking up to the shocking fact that the vaccine industry has been systematically poisoning their children for decades while committing scientific fraud to hide the evidence of harm, Robert De Niro has followed in the footsteps of Joseph Goebbels as the Tribeca Propaganda Minister of Truth, silencing independent filmmakers who have extraordinary contributions to offer the world.

This silencing of filmmakers is entirely consistent with the Nazi regime’s book burning agenda to destroy knowledge they didn’t want citizens to access. It is this destruction of knowledge and oppression of independent science that now infects the vaccine industry, an industry steeped in fraud, criminality and medical violence against children.

Similarly, while the Nazi Holocaust murdered six million Jews in the name of cleansing the population, today’s vaccine medical holocaust murders and maims children in the name of cleansing public health. The justifications are identical, too: Nazis justified the killing of Jews as a way to achieve the “greater good” of a superior society. Today’s vaccine pushers invoke precisely the same logic, saying that even if a few children die from vaccines, that’s acceptable “for the greater good” of society.

Human: The Incredible Documentary That Changes How You See Yourself

humanity world

By C. Katt Krespach |EWAO

In the future we want,  do we all have the same desire for love, for freedom, for recognition… to recognize our human bond?   “HUMAN” takes us beyond the masks of social proprieties and guides us deeply into the experience of human existence.  “For, there is nothing more compelling than someone looking you right in the eye… and baring their soul.”

Each individual holds a secret truth… a gem of reality which invites you and me to look within, to broaden our view of each other.

Newly released, HUMAN is an unforgettable documentary filled with stories which, in their transparency, have the power to change our perceptions about ourselves.

“Sometimes there comes along a documentary that is so profound, so moving, that you want to shout out to the whole world that they must see it.”

Directed by French born Yann Arthus-Bertand, a well-known and incredible photographer, journalist, and reporter (as well as an avid environmentalist)….

” HUMAN is a stunning visual feast for the eyes and has a powerful impact on the soul.”

…Interview with Maria

Maria is a “landless”. When she arrived at the Umberto Frei camp, in Brazil, she had nothing, she was hungry. But she got help. She started to work, harvesting beans, maize … Now she has her field, her cabin, her donkey. She also attends classes to learn how to read and write. She is simply happy.

Authentic and Real Stories …

We are experiencing a tidal shift in our conscious awareness of what it means to be human.

Through social media, we are learning about each other… and doing so with the social barriers of politics, caste, religion… or whatever judgmental wall has been erected by our predecessors.

We are coming into our own. And our true human nature is affording us the opportunity to come clean and be straight in our speech with one another.

We all have a story to tell… and it is the telling of our story that brings us closer.

…Interview with Jane Goodall

Jane Goodall is a primatologist, ethologist and anthropologist. She is the first to have observed and reported that chimpanzees use tools for feeding, deeply transforming the human-animal relationships. Today, Jane is committed to the crucial mission of alerting the public about the dangers our planet is exposed to and of changing individual behaviour towards a greater awareness of our environment.

Asking Questions and Telling The Truth…

During the course of filming, journalists asked 2020 people a list of 40 prepared questions. Given the freedom to respond authentically, their answers often surprised the journalists … and frequently took the conversation in unexpected directions.

 Countless Moving Moments

The label of ” Celebrity ” is a social meme used to market entertainment to the public.

The Human life of the individual goes far deeper.

In this interview, Cameron Diaz expresses the true nature of her “job” and her personal experience of what it means to be as human as everyone else.

…Interview with Cameron Diaz

Interviewed in Canada, Cameron Diaz spoke about the incredible and very emotional memory following the loss of her father.

Telling The Story…

“Throughout the filming of Human, Arthus and his team of 16 journalists interviewed people from 60 different countries, asking each person the same 40 questions, covering many subjects such as family, love, religion, ambition, and failure.

“They even interviewed freedom fighters, death row inmates, farmers in Mali, and war veterans who have seen life in a very different context than have most of us.

“The variety of people interviewed, from so many different countries, shows you the scale of the world’s common concerns, yet also gives you inspiration that the majority of people want the same things — to live in peace and harmony with each other, for governments to treat us well, and to have that connection that is so important.

“I promise you, you won’t be the same after you watch this film!”

“I am one man among seven billion others. For the past 40 years, I have been photographing our planet and its human diversity, and I have the feeling that humanity is not making any progress. We can’t always manage to live together.

Why is that? I didn’t look for an answer in statistics or analysis, but in man himself.” – Yann Arthus-Bertrand

The film you are about to watch has been released for free on youtube by the producers of HUMAN.

It is their gift to all of us.

…Full Documentary, HUMAN – on Youtube

HUMAN by Yann Arthus-Bertrand – Genesis of the film  Volume 1 of 3 (1:23:19)

Editor’s Note: I started out watching Volume 1.  The photography alone is mind boggling. The interviews are deeply profound. As the speakers communicated I found myself looking deep into their eyes, as if I were sitting right there with each of them, seeing them in a compelling and connected way. We ARE all ONE.  After Volume 1, I went on to Volume 2 and then Volume 3. Much longer than I had intended, but Yann Arthus Bertrand was absolutely right. After seeing it, I am not the same. WHAT A GIFT!

CLN RADIO – “The Matrix is Real” According to Jon Rappoport

Alexis chats with alternative researcher and investigative reporter Jon Rappoport about the matrix-like construct we call “Reality.”

In this discussion, Rappoport offers a lucid philosophy about what’s behind what could be called the matrix or “constructed reality,” and proffers anecdotes about those he’s interviewed who divulge explicit details about how reality is created for the masses and the objectives at-hand.

After a lengthy illustration about a Matrix-like construct, ideas are discussed to empower the individual to harness the potential of creative imagination and improvisation as a tool to re-engage individual freedom and construct a reality of our own choosing.

The Mystical ‘Merlin’ is Not Who (or What) You Think

Karma Singh | Harmony Energy Consultants

MerlinWizard-680x380

Firstly, Merlin is not a name, it’s a title!

You have, probably, heard of Merlin in the tales of King Arthur.

With a person of such importance it is only to be expected that a Merlin would be assigned to his court and, as etiquette required, be addressed by his title rather than by his name. As this was in the time during which the Catholic Church was gradually conquering Europe, the presence of a Merlin in King Arthur’s court was of even greater importance.

In the ancient Celtic tradition, a boy would be taken up into the bardic school at about 9 years of age where they would study for around 12 to 15 years. (Girls would be taken up in the priestess school.) Naturally, not all the students completed the full training; many were there to learn some of the basics before going back to continue in the family occupation.

Those who mastered the entire training were then sent to travel the world as Bards.

Despite what you may have been taught in school, a Bard was (is) not a troubadour. His training gave him abilities way in excess of this.

The duties of a Bard were (are):

1) To maintain a standard language throughout the land. In the times in which it was a great rarity for anyone to leave their village, there was a constant tendency to develop dialects so strong that communication with other communities would no longer be possible.

2) To “correct and balance”, i.e. to maintain the natural order, to attain agreement in strife, forgiveness and reconciliation after hurt and much more. This is the system which the Catholic Church replaced with their guilt and punishment concepts which gave a remote Theocracy, centralised in Rome, control over everyone’s daily life. It is their system which we still use today!

3) To give both children and adults a basic education and to report to his Merlin the names and locations of Children with the potential to become Bards.

4) To carry news from place to place.

15 News Stories from 2015 You Should Have Heard About But Probably Didn’t

new-stories2015

By Carey Wedler | The Anti Media

(ANTIMEDIA) In 2015, the iron fist of power clamped down on humanity, from warfare to terrorism (I repeat myself) to surveillance, police brutality, and corporate hegemony. The environment was repeatedly decimated, the health of citizens was constantly put at risk, and the justice system and media alike were perverted to serve the interests of the powers that be.

However, while 2015 was discouraging for more reasons than most of us can count, many of the year’s most underreported stories evidence not only a widespread pattern that explicitly reveals the nature of power, but pushback from human beings worldwide on a path toward a better world.

1. CISA Pushed Through the Senate, Effectively Clamping Down on Internet Freedom: For years, Congress has attempted to legalize corporate and state control of the internet. In 2011, they attempted to pass PIPA and SOPA, companion bills slammed by internet and tech companies and ultimately defeated after overwhelming public outcry. Then they passed  CISPA — which the president threatened to veto, having caught wind of the public’s opposition to heavy regulation of the internet (earlier this year, Obama reversed his position). However, corporate interests, like Hollywood’s studio monopoly, kept lawmakers’ tenacity afloat.

In October, Congress passed CISA, the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, but as the Electronic Freedom Foundation explained: “CISA isfundamentally flawed. The bill’s broad immunity clauses, vague definitions, and aggressive spying powers combine to make the bill a surveillance bill in disguise. Further, the bill does not address problems from the recent highly publicized computer data breaches that were caused by unencrypted files, poor computer architecture, un-updated servers, and employees (or contractors) clicking malware links.” Just before Christmas, Congress went even further, adding an amendment to the annual omnibus budget bill that strips CISA’s minimal privacy provisions even more. That budget bill was approved, though Representative Justin Amash of Michigan has vowed to introduce legislation to repeal the CISA provisions when Congress reconvenes.

But CISA wasn’t the only attack on citizens’ privacy this year. Though lawmakers touted the USA Freedom Act as a repeal of the mass surveillance state, in reality, it simply added a bureaucratic step to the process by which government agencies obtain private information. Further, a hack on Italian security firm, aptly called Hacker Tools, revealed that various agencies — including the DEA, NSA, Army, and FBI — possess software that enables them to, as Anti-Media reported, “view suspects’ photos, emails, listen to and record their conversations, and activate the cameras on their computers…” At the same time, the United Kingdom and France moved to tighten their already comprehensive surveillance apparatuses in the wake of multiple terrorist attacks. Though governments claim systematic surveillance is necessary to protect citizens — and Snowden’s leaks endangered that safety — the United States government has been unable to produce sufficient evidence the programs work. Instead, the documents the Department of Defense released this year as proof of the alleged endangerment were entirely redacted.

2. CIA Whistleblower Sent to Prison for Revealing Damning Information to a Journalist: While the government has no problem invading the privacy of its citizens, it offers swift backlash for those who attempt to violate its own clandestine operations. Jeffrey Sterling, a former CIA agent, had his first altercation with the CIA when he sued for racial discrimination in 2001. He was subsequently fired. Years later, the CIA filed espionage charges against him for speaking with New York Times journalist, James Risen. Sterling had revealed a botched CIA scheme, Operation Merlin, to infiltrate Iranian intelligence that ultimately worsened the situation, gave Iran a nuclear blueprint, and was deemed by some to be espionage, itself. Rather than acknowledge the woeful misstep, the CIA arrested him, charged him, and ultimately sentenced him to 42 months in prison. The trial was reportedly biased, but nevertheless, was severely underreported by the media. Sterling’s conviction reflects the ongoing war on whistleblowers, which Obama has successfully expanded during his presidency. Sterling joins the ranks of Edward Snowden, Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning, and others, including a whistleblower who worked for OSHA’s Whistleblower Protection Program and was fired for exposing dysfunction and incompetencewithin the ranks.

3. Press Freedom Continued to Deteriorate: An annual report from the World Press Freedom Index saw the United States slip 29 spots from last year, landing 49th out of 180 total. In January, journalist Barrett Brown wassentenced to five years in prison for exposing the findings of hacker Jeremy Hammond. Brown was charged with obstructing justice, aiding and abetting, and separate charges of allegedly threatening the FBI in a rant. Hammond, who exposed severe violations of privacy on the part of Stratfor, a CIA contractor, was sentenced to ten years in prison. Brown’s experience was not an isolated incident. Journalists around the world, like several journalists who were killed while investigating ISIS in Turkey, faced increased danger. One small-town journalist in India was burned alive after exposing a corrupt politician.

4. Multiple Activists Arrested, Charged with Felonies for Educating Jurors About Their Rights: In an ongoing trend, otherwise peaceful, non-violent individuals were harassed by police and courts — not for exposing secret information, but for providing information to potential jurors about their rights in the courtroom. One Denver jury nullification activist, followed by another, was charged with multiple felonies for handing out pamphlets that explain a juror’s right to vote “not guilty” in a verdict, even if the defendant is clearly guilty. This right was established to allow jurors to vote with their conscience and question the morality of laws, from the 19th century’s Fugitive Slave Act to Prohibition, both of alcohol in the 1920s and of marijuana today. The Denver activists are awaiting trial, while more recently, a former pastor was charged with a felony for the same reason.

In other unjust convictions and failings of the “justice” system, an African-American man was sentenced to seven years in prison for barking at a police dog, a Kansas mother faces decades in prison for using marijuana to treat her debilitating Crohn’s disease, and a mentally ill man died in jail after being held for stealing five dollars worth of snacks from a convenience store. He had inexplicably been waiting months to be transferred to a medical facility. Ross Ulbricht, founder of the dark web marketplace, the Silk Road, was sentenced to life in prison in spite of the fact that he committed no violent crimes — though the FBI attempted to paint a false picture that he did, albeit without filing formal charges. The prosecution was rife with corruption and scandal; two FBI agents involved in the case were charged with stealing Bitcoin during the investigation. In July, one admitted to stealing $700,000 worth of the digital currency.

5. Six-Year-Old Autistic Boy Killed by Police: 2015 established not only that the justice system remains broken, but the the enforcement class — police officers — continues to terrorize citizens. In one underreported case, a six-year-old boy was fatally caught in the crossfire of a police shootout against his father, who was unarmed. In another case, an African-American motorist was shot and killed by University of Cincinnati police over a missing front license plate. While high-profile cases of misconduct, including Freddie Gray and Sandra Bland, rightly dominated the news cycle, many more cases of police brutality received little attention. In fact, in 2015, it was revealed not only that the media-propagated “War on Cops” in America was a myth, but that American police kill exponentially more people in weeks than other countries’ police kill in years. On the bright side, many police officers did face charges — and even prosecution — in 2015, including one repeat rapist who recently cried upon being convicted of his crimes. The officers involved in the shooting of the six-year-old boy were also charged with murder.

6. Earth Enters Sixth Mass Extinction: 2015, like many years before, was disastrous for the environment. Researchers from Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, and Princeton determined Earth is entering its sixth mass extinction, reporting that species are disappearing at a rate 100 times faster than the normal rate between mass extinctions. Further, thanks, in part, to the widespread use of Monsanto’s glyphosate-based Roundup herbicide, populations of bees and Monarch butterflies dwindled — though, happily, the Monarchs appear to have bounced back. Polar bears also met continued endangerment.

The much-anticipated Paris Climate Conference yielded what many environmental activists deemed weak, if not fraudulent, solutions. Meanwhile, man-made environmental catastrophes endangered humans. In Flint, Michigan, lead levels in the water led to increased rates of contamination in children’s blood, prompting the mayor to declare a state of emergency. A massive methane gas leak in the San Fernando Valley, located just north of Los Angeles, has sickened residents and forced countless families to relocate. Authorities have been unable to stop the leak.

Thankfully, some measures to help the environment were taken in 2015, including creative solutions to stop animal poaching, the first flight of a solar-powered plane, the launch of a solar-powered airport in India, and Costa Rica’s successful effort to draw 99% of its energy from renewable sources.

7. Civilian Casualties in Western Wars Continue: Though ISIS and other terrorist groups were rightly condemned for killing civilians in 2015, the West pointed fingers while committing the same crimes. In fact, one U.N. report released in September found U.S. drone strikes have killed more civilians in Yemen than al-Qaeda. Another analysis released this year concluded Obama’s ongoing drone wars have killed more people than were murdered during the Spanish Inquisition. Though the U.S. military’s bombing of a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) hospital received global attention and outrage, many other incidents went underreported. In May, one U.S. airstrike on Syria killed 52 civilians in one fell swoop. Additionally, U.S.-backed coalitions have bombed civilian populations, like in Yemen, where Saudi Arabia killed at least 500 children, not to mention two thousand more adult civilians. In other egregious misdeeds, it was revealed that the U.S. military sanctions pedophilia in Afghanistan.

8. Insurrection at the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency Over Misleading Reports on ISIS: Over the summer, dissent grew within the ranks of the DIA, the Pentagon’s internal intelligence agency. In September, news broke that 50 intelligence analysts filed a report with the Department of Defense’s Inspector General to expose their superiors’ alleged manipulation of intelligence. The intention of the coverup was reportedly to downplay the threat of ISIS and the U.S.’s losing effort to fight it, all to maintain the Obama administration’s narrative the bombing campaigns have been successful.

Similar mishandlings of foreign affairs plagued 2015. It was revealed that the Pentagon had no idea what it did with $8.5 trillion, lost track of $500 million worth of weapons and equipment, and spent $43 million on a single gas station in Afghanistan. A DIA report released in June intimated the military was aware of the rising threat of ISIS, and not only allowed it, but welcomed it. The program to train moderate rebels in the fight cost half a billion dollars but yielded only four or five fighters. Further, multiple generals spoke out this year about the U.S. military’s role in creating ISIS. Additionally, news broke in 2015 that one ISIS recruiter had previously been trained by infamous Iraq War profiteer, Blackwater.

9. Activists Inch a Small Step Closer to Exposing the Actors Behind 9/11: Though few Americans heard about it, in August, a New York judge allowed a trial to move forward that could expose a potential government cover-up in the notorious terrorist attack. The ruling was tepid, allowing a 60 to 90 day window for the case to be dismissed or proceed. A later ruling hindered the effort, citing a lack of evidence; but activists have not stopped fighting for the release of 28 redacted pages from the 9/11 commission report that allegedly implicate Saudi Arabia (a majority of the hijackers on 9/11 were of Saudi origin).

Whatever the truth may be, 2015 witnessed growing doubts about the Saudi government, which beheaded more people than ISIS this year. It also sentenced a poet to beheading for writing poetry about his experience as a refugee from Palestine, sentenced a young man, Ali al-Nimr, to crucifixion for participating in anti-government protests, attempted to issue 350 lashings to a British man in possession of wine (though the U.K. intervened on his behalf, and that of al-Nimr; neither will be punished), and initiated a punishment of 1,000 lashings for a pro-democracy blogger, Raif Badawi.

10. The FDA Approved OxyContin for Use in Children: Though the approval of the powerful, addictive painkiller for use in 11-year-olds and younger children was unsurprising to those who follow the agency’s track record, the FDA’s justification was shocking. After lawmakers wrote a letter expressing concern to the FDA, the agency’s spokesperson, Eric Pahon, said the news was, in fact, not that serious because it was already standard practice. It’s important to stress that this approval was not intended to expand or otherwise change the pattern of use of extended-release opioids in pediatric patients,” Pahon said. “Doctors were already prescribing it to children, without the safety and efficacy data in hand with regard to the pediatric population.

However disturbing, the FDA’s decision comported with other related events this year: President Obamaappointed a pharmaceutical lobbyist Deputy Commissioner of medical and tobacco products, a study found swaths of heroin users graduate from prescription painkillers, and similarly, 75% of high school students who used heroin had previously abused pharmaceuticals.

In other stories regarding the misconduct of agencies tasked with keeping people safe, the FDA continued to allow meat companies to use a pharmaceutical additive banned in 150 countries, while whistleblowers at the USDA revealed several plants were producing pork products filled with fingernails, hair, bile, and feces.

11. The Federal Government Admitted Cannabis May Help Fight Brain Cancer: Though the government has long known about the medical benefits of cannabis — it holds patents on several medicinal qualities — the National Institute on Drug Abuse made waves this year when it published a document acknowledging the healing properties of cannabidiol, a non-psychoactive endocannabinoid. In particular, it noted “[e]vidence from one animal study suggests that extracts from whole-plant marijuana can shrink one of the most serious types of brain tumors.” Though more research is needed, the government’s admission was unexpected, albeit welcomed by many cannabis enthusiasts. Other studies this year suggested cannabis may help heal broken bones and isassociated with lower rates of obesity.

Though many Americans still faced criminal prosecution for treating themselves and their children with cannabis, 2015 demonstrated the long-term trend of decriminalization and legalization will not be reversed. Nations around the world, from Ireland to Costa Rica to Canada laid groundwork to legalize marijuana to various degrees, while a majority of Americans now support legalization.

12. Nestle Paid $524 to Plunder the Public’s Water Resources: This year, Anti-Media reported on the insidious relationship between Nestle and the Forest Service in California. The investigation found not only that Nestle was using an expired permit to turn exponential profit on 27 million gallons of water, but that a former Forest Service official went on to consult for the company.

While corporate exploitation ran rampant in 2015, many countries around the world fought back. Indiasued Nestle after finding one of its products contained lead, while nations around the world banned Monsanto and GE products. Scotland, Denmark, and Bulgaria, among others, all moved to ban GE crops, while multiplelawsuits, highlighted the serious potential health consequences of the widespread use of pesticides (though the EPA disputed that glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup, was an endocrine disrupter in June, in November, news broke that the majority of studies the EPA used to make its decision were funded by industry). Though corporate power remains all but monolithic, 2015 saw humans across the world rise up to resist it. Most recently (and comically), a proposed initiative in California is about to enter the next phase — signature gathering — to place it on the 2016 ballot. If placed on the ballot and passed, it will force California legislators to wear the logos of their top ten donors while they participate in legislative activities. The effort has drawn widespread praise and enthusiasm.

13. Establishment Caught Manipulating News to Fit Narratives: Following the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, contentious protests broke out, eventually resulting in limited rioting and looting. However, while the media attempted to paint protesters as aggressive, it failed to report officers’ prolonged prohibition of their physical movement, to say nothing of the riot gear police showed up wearing. After being unable to move, a brick was thrown, but the media failed to report the instigation and discrimination law enforcement imposed that ultimately led the students and protesters to grow unruly.

In other manipulations, it was revealed that one Fox News contributor lied about his experience as a CIA agent; he had never been employed at the agency, and only obtained later national security jobs by lying about his CIA experience. Further, CBS edited out comments from Muslims, who discussed U.S. foreign policy as a driver of Islamic extremism during a televised focus group.

A study by fact checker, Politifact, revealed that all the major outlets surveyed — Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC— consistently report half-truths and lies. It is little wonder, then, that another survey found only 7% of Americans still harbor “a great deal of trust” in the mainstream media.

Still, it wasn’t just the media that lied. On multiple occasions, government employees were caught attempting to distort facts. In March, news emerged that an IP address linked to the NYPD had attempted to edit the Wikipedia page on Eric Garner. Computers inside Britain’s parliament were linked to attempted edits on pages detailing sex scandals, among other transgressions. In a related story, the FBI reported it had foiled yet another terrorist plot, and once again, it was revealed the culprits were provided support from an informant working for the bureau. Further, in August, Wikileaks released cables that showed an American lobbyist for Saudi Arabia organized a $6 million ad campaign against the president’s nuclear deal with Iran, all through a well-funded group called the “American Security Initiative.” The lobbyist, Norm Coleman, is a former Republican senator.

14. TPP: In one of the most widely-contested pieces of legislation in recent memory, the Trans-Pacific Partnership moved forward, often in secret. The TPP has been condemned as a corporate power grab that ensures profit for pharmaceutical companies, among many other loathed industries. From clamping down on internet freedom to effectively sanctioning sex trafficking, TPP signals an ominous fate for the future of freedom.

15. Sharp Uptick in Islamophobia: Amid the carnage of the Paris terror attacks, the recent shooting in San Bernardino, and the surge in Syrian refugees seeking asylum in Western nations, attacks against Muslims skyrocketed in 2015. In the United States, Muslims have been attacked for praying in public, wearing traditional head scarves, and for simply being out in public. Sikhs have been caught in the crossfire for the crime of being brown and wearing cloth on their heads — and thus being confused with Muslims — while at least one Christian has been terrorized as a result of the unmitigated hate currently permeating modern society. Many European nations and U.S. states have rejected the influx of refugees from war-torn Syria.

Amid the increased hate against Muslims, however, has come an outpouring of love and tolerance. Muslim groups across the world have condemned terror attacks, raised money to help the families of victims, and promoted programs to discourage extremism. At the same time, citizens across Europe, Canada, and even parts of the United States have welcomed Syrian refugees with open arms.

2015 was a year of chaos, violence, hate, and an ongoing struggle of freedom versus oppression. In many ways, it was like the years, decades, and even centuries and millenia that came before. But amid the conflict and often discouraging headlines, humanity has continued to persevere, offering resistance to seemingly all-powerful forces and paving the way for, if nothing else, potential peace, freedom, and respect for human life.

Naji Jerf, Syrian Journalist Who Exposed ISIS Aleppo Atrocities, Assassinated in Turkey

Source: RT America

A prominent Syrian journalist and filmmaker, Naji Jerf, who produced anti-Islamic State documentaries was gunned down by unknown assailants in broad daylight in Gaziantep, Turkey.

This is the third assassination of a journalist in the country over the last three months.

Naji Jerf, editor-in-chief of the Hentah monthly, known for his documentaries describing violence and abuses on Islamic State-controlled territories (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) was shot and killed near a building housing Syrian independent media outlets in the Turkish city of Gaziantep. His death was originally reported by a group of citizen journalists he was working with.

Jerf recently completed a documentary investigating violence and crime in the IS-held parts of Aleppo for the RBSS group [“Raqa is Being Slaughtered Silently”]. The film won a Committee to Protect Journalists’(CPJ) International Press Freedom Award in November.

A friend of Jerf’s has told AFP the journalist was “supposed to arrive in Paris this week after receiving, along with his family, a visa for asylum in France.”

Journalist Dead and 3 More Arrested After Exposing Turkey Is Arming Syrian Extremists

By Claire Bernish | The Anti Media

(ANTIMEDIA) Istanbul, Turkey — Just over a week after Cumhuriyet Editor-in-Chief, Can Dündar, represented the Turkish daily news outlet in receiving a press freedom award, he and another top editor were arrested and jailed on charges of espionage. In question was a controversial article exposing arms shipments from Turkish intelligence to Syrian extremist rebels.

“We have been arrested,” tweeted Dündar on Thursday. “Don’t worry, these are medals of honor for us.”

He explained further: “We are accused of ‘spying.’ The president said ‘treason.’ We are not traitors, spy [sic], or heroes; we are journalists. What we have done here is an act of journalism,” said Dündar before testifying on Thursday. “Of course, this prosecution will help enlighten how these incidents took place, rather than how we covered this story.”

Now a third Turkish journalist has been arrested, according to local reports. Ertuğrul Özkök, a reporter for Turkish daily Hüriyet, has been arrested for a slanderous criticism of who is presumed to be Erdoğan — even though the president wasn’t explicitly named anywhere in Özkök’s article. As if more evidence of Turkey’s quashing free press and free speech were needed, Özkök potentially faces five years and four months in prison for expressing this opinion.

Dündar and Ankara correspondent, Erdem Gül, if found guilty on charges of spying, as well as aiding a terrorist organization, could spend the rest of their lives in a Turkish prison — for doing their job. There is a painfully ironic undercurrent in the charges considering the subject of the article is the Erdoğan administration’s complicity in arming Syrian extremists (read:terrorists).

Erdoğan himself sued Dündar and accused Cumhuriyet of releasing false information and spying when the story first exploded, stating at the time the journalist responsible would “pay a heavy price,” as the Wall Street Journal reported.

Despite Cunhuriyet’s recent honor from Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF, or Reporters Without Borders), under the paranoid, watchful eye of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, journalists — and dissenters — have faced sweeping general censorship. Dündar and Gül might be the most prominent recent examples of Erdoğan’s attempt to keep “state secrets” concealed from public scrutiny, but they’re not the first journalists to poke this particular sore spot.

In fact, the last time a reporter tried to expose Turkey’s complicity in arming Syrian extremists, she met an untimely and as-yet unexplained death under seriously suspicious circumstances that remain inscrutable to this day — even to her own family.

PressTV reporter Serena Shim, a U.S. citizen, had been investigating the flow of anti-Assad militants and weapons from Turkey’s border region into northwestern Syria amidst heavy fighting near the town of Kobanî. During this time, she attracted the attention of Turkish Intelligence (MiT — Millî İstihbarat Teşkilatı). Though locals knew her and the integrity of her reporting, MiT proceeded to question them and requested her whereabouts — under the unfounded guise Shim had been acting as a spy.

In reality, Shim had uncovered evidence of secret Western assistance to the Islamic State” — a particularly touchy subject for Erdoğan, as seen in the arrests of Dünbar and Gül. Her video evidence of this assistance — reportedly “proof of Islamic State terrorists using United Nations World Food Program vehicles for a convoy” into Syria, likely akin to Dünbar and Gül’s discovery — has never been recovered. Her passport and wedding ring, seized by Turkish authorities sometime after her death, have never been returned to her family.

Serena Shim and her cousin, cameraperson Judy Irish, unlike the arguably more fortunate Dünbar and Gül, were ostensibly “hit by a truck after turning into the opposite lane on a highway access road,” as reported in wtfrly.com. Shim was killed, though discrepancies are plentiful in official reports, including whether she died at the scene or an hour later from heart failure in the hospital. Shim and Irish were inexplicably taken to hospitals over 25 miles apart from each other by Turkish military officials, not police, who ‘investigated’ the wreck. After outrage from Shim’s family, Turkish authorities — who first claimed they were unable to locate the vehicle responsible for hitting Shim and Irish — eventually produced photos of the accident, which they then claimed had been caused by a cement truck driver.

Shim’s family has yet to receive answers from either Turkish or U.S. authorities about her dubious demise. On October 20, 2014, Marie Harf of the State Department took questions from the press on a number of subjects, including rumors surrounding Shim’s death. According to the transcript:

QUESTION: Does the U.S. have any comment on reports the death of U.S. citizen Serena Shim in Turkey may be more than just a car crash, following her reports that ISIS militants are being smuggled across the Syrian border?

HARF: Yes. We can confirm that she died in Turkey on October 19th and extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Officials from the U.S. Consulate General in Adana are in contact with her family and providing all possible consular assistance. For any details or information about the investigation, I think local authorities in Turkey are handling that.

QUESTION: But I mean, the question was whether you believe that her death had anything other than to do than [sic] a car crash.

HARF: I just don’t have anything further for you than that.

QUESTION: Can you take the question?

HARF: I can, but I don’t think I’m going to have anything further.

On November 20th, the media again attempted to press for answers about Shim’s death during a daily briefing given by Jeff Rathke. Per the transcript:

QUESTION: It’s about the journalist Serena Shim, who died in Turkey under very suspicious circumstances. Did her death raise suspicions here at the State Department?

RATHKE: Well, I think we’ve spoken to this in the briefing room several weeks ago, after it happened. I don’t have anything to add to what the spokesperson said at the time, though.

QUESTION: But then she died several days after she claimed she had been threatened by the Turkish intelligence. Have you inquired about this? Have you asked questions? Is there really nothing new about this?

RATHKE: Well, I just don’t have any update to share with you. Again, this was raised shortly after her death. The spokesperson addressed it. I don’t have an update to share with you at this time.

This icy response sharply contrasts that given by the State for other ‘American’ journalists killed or captured in the area for whom President Obama’s administration appeared to react with care and criticism, such as with James Foley (who was beheaded by ISIS).

U.S. State Dept. spokesperson Mark Toner released a statement on Thursday concerning the arrests of Dünbar and Gül:

“We are troubled by the pre-trial arrest yesterday of senior editors of the respected Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet.

“The investigation, criminal charges, and arrest raise serious concerns about the Turkish government’s commitment to the fundamental principle of media freedom. These events are only the latest in a series of judicial and law enforcement actions taken under questionable circumstances against Turkish media outlets critical of the government.

“We call on Turkish authorities to ensure that all individuals and organizations — including but not limited to the media — are free to voice a full range of opinions and criticism, in accordance with Turkey’s constitutional guarantees of media freedom and freedom of expression.”

Most troubling in the silencing of Shim, Dünbar, Gül, and now Özkök are the very real consequences the verity of their reports of the Erdoğan government’s complicity in arming and aiding the Islamic State could have in NATO operations in the region. Should their separate, same discoveries have merit — and considering Erdoğan’s swift and heavy-handed reaction, they likely do — Turkey’s agenda stands at cross purposes with the supposed coalition goal of stunting ISIS. Even Vice President Joe Biden implicated Turkish involvement in the ISIS arms trade, though he apologized and essentially recanted that claim shortly afterwards.

Shortly after Shim’s mysterious death, the Daily Mail revealed video of Turkish border police having friendly interactions with ISIS fighters — apparently further evidence supporting the journalists’ claims.

The U.S. and other allies of Turkey quickly reacted in solidarity with the recent downing of a Russian jet that apparently breached Turkish air space — but is it possible that alliance isn’t as committed to ending ISIS’ growth as it purports to be? Though mostly unstated by the media and State, it has been widely and criticallyrumored U.S. involvement in the Syrian imbroglio has far more to do with deposing President Bashar al-Assad than leveling the burgeoning Islamic State.

In one of Shim’s final reports from her investigation, she revealed local Turkish populations near the Syrian border simply want an end to fighting. She disclosed many refugee camps in that border region were, in actuality, training camps for militants.

In interviews with local residents, it became clear Erdoğan’s stance on Assad — whom they claim the president used to call “our brother” — sharply reversed after consulting with U.S. officials.

According to Shim, locals stated, “We want Turkey and Syria to be friends again. We want the Syrian militants outside of Turkey’s territory.” She also explained locals “blame their government for the entire chaos taking place across the border [in Syria], calling their Prime Minister a ‘puppet of Israel and the United States.’”

Shim’s family is still waiting for information from the U.S. about her death. Judy Irish survived the deadly ‘accident,’ but so far has not come forward with any public statements about the incident. Press freedom in Turkey, meanwhile, has become a bit of an oxymoron.

Perhaps Voltaire said it best:

“To determine the true rulers of any society, all you must do is ask yourself this question: Who is it that I am not permitted to criticize?”

CLN RADIO NEW EPISODE – The Last Avatar Movie (and Beyond!)

Alexis speaks with producer Sharron Rose (and wife of Jay Weidner) to discuss their latest film project – The Last Avatar

There are many Hollywood films that are brilliant at drawing the viewer in to the depths of emotion.

Whether it’s laughter, tears, or the grips of fear, Hollywood has made it their business to use emotion to get our attention and keep it there, if only for an hour or two. But there are some films that have a lasting impression; whose message is powerful and authentic enough to stay with us for many years to come. The Last Avatar is one such film. In my interview with Sharron Rose,  the producer of this epic adventure, we discussed all of the implications that this film brought to light. Even the darkness that has cast a shadow over mankind for millennia. But The LAST Avatar was simply the FIRST subject we covered – a powerful springboard of sorts – that launched us into a range of extraordinary and fascinating terrain and a path that Sharron knows so very well.

CLN RADIO: The Shadow and Light of Hollywood Film

Alexis speaks with film historian and new media pioneer Randall Libero about the multiple dimensions of Hollywood Film

Watch the full interview on YouTube

What do motion pictures (Hollywood Film) have to do with human consciousness? According to film historian and new media expert Randall Libero, a lot!

When we watch a movie, whether romantic comedy, deep drama or even documentary, are we tuning in to tune out or are we staying conscious within ourselves and not allowing what we’re experiencing with our physical senses take us over?

These questions spawned a most intriguing discussion about the role of media in consciousness and why now more than ever we must choose wisely the images that we allow to come into our lives.

Both shadow and light have a critical role to play in the way we view film and it is with this perception that many ancient peoples understood the benefits of both in all aspects of life.

With more choices than ever to view media as well as create it, we can certainly choose which side of the veil we wish to partake.

Fortunately with these choices, the emergence of conscious media is now being given a starring role. And with this burgeoning trend, we now have the opportunity to allow that which we take in through our eyes and ears – expand our consciousness, rather than repress it.

This is a special re-broadcast of Conscious Inquiry Radio. But note, ALL of what is discussed is even more relevant today! Listen up!
