Planetary Overview for May 2026
In May, Venus, planet of relationships and compassion, continues its favorable transit through the fixed earth sign of Taurus until May 13, 2026. Mars begins its powerful transit through its own sign of Aries from May 11 to June 20, 2026. As Mars shifts signs, it travels the sensitive gandanta degrees May 8 to May 14. Kala Sarpa Yoga occurs from May 10 through May 24, 2026, a period to practice neutrality. Ketu, south node of the Moon, aspects Mars on May 24 and 25, a time to be mindful of our actions. Mercury, planet of communications, travels through its own sign of Gemini starting May 29, 2026, with a focus on positive communications and education. Three benefic planets, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter, are conjunct in the sign of Gemini from May 29 to May 31, 2026.
Venus in Taurus: Love, Stability, and Healing
Venus, planet of love, relationships, healing, and the arts, continues its transit through its own sign of Taurus until May 13, 2026. Venus began its transit in Taurus last month, on April 19.
On a global level, Venus is the planet of universal love and compassion and is well-placed in Taurus. Venus is a meditator or diplomatic planet, so this is a positive transit to heal and negotiate peace and harmony with others. This is also a good time to socialize with those close to you.
Venus in the fixed and loyal sign of Taurus desires a sense of greater stability in the world and requires a supportive environment. But watch for stubbornness and inability to change, and be compassionate with yourself. As Venus transits the earth sign of Taurus, this brings a greater focus on the natural world and addressing environmental and ecological concerns.
Mars in Aries: Energy, Action, and Awareness
Mars, planet of action and assertiveness, moves into its own sign of Aries on May 11 and remains there until June 20, 2026. As Mars ends its transit of Pisces and enters Aries, it travels briefly through the sensitive gandanta degrees, the cusp between water and fire signs, from May 8 to May 14.
During this time, we have an opening to heal old, ancient patterns connected to Mars energies, such as misuse of power or excessive control. We are motivated to choose peaceful means to solve our conflicts, both internally and in the outer world. This is a time to be non-reactive, neutral, and calm.
With Mars in Aries, we can be more adventurous, enthusiastic, and spontaneous. We enjoy activities that bring us energy and vitality, such as yoga, hiking, or sports. We are more direct in dealing with others. Mars in Aries is a great time to identify your inner strengths.
On the challenging side, Mars in Aries can bring impulsive action or anger that arises quickly. During this Mars transit, be patient and take time making important decisions. Listening well and acknowledging or considering others’ viewpoint is very important now. Instead of focusing on any differences you have with others, try to see what you really have in common. Be more self-controlled and less reactive. This is a transit where we may be asked to work through any anger or fear-based issues that may arise, with grace and forgiveness.
Mars and Ketu: Intensified Energies
While Mars transits Aries, Ketu, south node of the Moon, transits the fire sign of Leo and will aspect Mars exactly at 10 degrees on May 24 and 25, 2026. Mars/Ketu energies can be inflammatory and trigger impulsiveness.
This is a time to remain centered and non-reactive. As Ketu is the planet of enlightenment and spiritual realization, direct this amplified energy into positive and uplifting actions and responses. This is a good time for mindfulness practice, meditation, and yoga.
Kala Sarpa Yoga: A Time for Reflection and Ethics
From May 10 to 24, 2026, we experience a Kala Sarpa Yoga, when all the planets are located between the nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu. This nodal pattern began last month on April 13 and will occur two weeks at a time, every month, until it ends on July 10, 2026.
Kala Sarpa periods require moral and ethical words and actions, a time of deeper karmic significance both personally and globally. Let go of narrow thinking and connect to your heart. Become more aware and sensitive to the bigger picture of life.
Sometimes we can feel restrictive energies with Kala Sarpa Yoga, so it’s a good time to be compassionate and present with others. Do your spiritual sadhana, go within, and help those in need.
Mercury in Gemini: Communication and Intellect
At the end of May, Mercury, planet of the intellect, communications, and commerce, begins its favorable transit through its own sign of Gemini from May 29 through June 22, 2026. Use this time to be more discerning and precise with your speech and the written word and become a more effective communicator.
Business negotiations may be more effective and creative. There is an emphasis on intellectual or educational pursuits. We enjoy communicating with others, exchanging useful information. Mercury in Gemini may also bring mental overload or nervous sensitivity.
If this occurs, spend time in nature, meditate, or participate in positive activities that ground you.
Triple Conjunction: Creative Expansion
At the end of the month, from May 29 to May 31, 2026, three benefic planets, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter, all transit the sign of Gemini. This is a highly creative combination, bringing intelligence, harmony, expansiveness, and diplomacy.
Summary
The May 2026 astrology forecast outlines a month characterized by a dynamic interplay between grounding, assertive action, karmic intensity, and elevated communication. Early in the month, Venus in Taurus supports harmony, stability, and healing in relationships and the environment, while Mars transitions into Aries, amplifying energy, initiative, and potential impulsiveness—especially during its passage through sensitive “gandanta” degrees. Mid-month is marked by Kala Sarpa Yoga, a karmically significant alignment encouraging ethical awareness, emotional neutrality, and spiritual practice. The Mars–Ketu interaction intensifies the need for self-regulation and mindful action. Toward the end of the month, Mercury’s entrance into Gemini—alongside a rare conjunction with Venus and Jupiter—shifts the collective tone toward intellectual clarity, creative expression, and harmonious communication, offering a window of insight, diplomacy, and expanded learning.
