Major Planetary Shifts Set the Tone
The winter eclipse season begins this month, first with a solar eclipse on February 17, 2026, followed by a total lunar eclipse that occurs next month, on March 3, 2026.
The nodes, Rahu and Ketu, are stationing at 14 degrees Leo/Aquarius for over two months.
Mars, planet of action and courage, is exalted in Capricorn until February 22, 2026.
Mercury, planet of communications, goes retrograde at the end of the month, beginning February 26, 2026.
February Solar Eclipse
The major event in February is the solar eclipse that occurs on February 17, 2026, at 5:01 AM (MST) at 4 degrees Aquarius.
In the Vedic tradition, eclipses are considered days of spiritual initiation or focus and are wonderful times to perform our spiritual practices, mantras, and to offer prayers.
In general, things hidden come to light. Deeper insights are revealed that guide us on the correct path.
Eclipses are times of change, and may offer divine messages or insights into our own healing. Effects of eclipses can be felt for many months afterwards.
During eclipses, meditation, introspection, and slowing down are recommended, as we are also more sensitive on the day of the eclipse, as well as a few days before and after.
Dhanishta Nakshatra Themes
The eclipse on February 17, 2026, at 4 degrees Aquarius is in the nakshatra of Dhanishta, which means “the wealthiest,” and brings a theme of redefining what true prosperity and wealth is to each of us.
Material wealth may be easier to understand, but how do we generate more “spiritual” wealth in our lives.
True wealth does not lose its value, and can be generated by genuine kindness, forgiveness, compassion, and charitable actions.
Dhanishta nakshatra can be powerful and intense, especially if we express high ideals for the goodness of all.
However, we may also see some of the shadow of Dhanishta arise, expressed as egotism, a sense of superiority, or deceptive actions.
So access your inner courage and work for the greater good, despite any challenges that may arise.
Venus Conjunct Rahu
Also during the solar eclipse period on February 16 to 17, Venus will conjunct Rahu exactly at 14 degrees Aquarius.
As Venus rules relationships and finances, and Rahu is a planet of desire, urgency, and secrecy, this is a time to be mindful and not be hasty in love relationships or with financial dealings.
Be patience and thoughtful with loved ones, as we may lack clarity or feel confused at this time.
March Lunar Eclipse Preview
The second eclipse of the pair occurs on March 3, 2026, at 18 degrees Leo and is a total lunar eclipse.
With this eclipse in the fixed fire sign of Leo, there may be an emphasis on personal power, self-expression, and creativity.
Are we being a good example and inspiring others, or are we too controlling?
Long Nodal Stationing
Currently the nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, have been stationing at 14 degrees in the signs of Leo and Aquarius, since January 30, 2026, and will remain so until April 6, 2026.
When the nodes remain on a degree for an unusually long period of time, unexpected or significant events can surface.
If you have planets close to 14 degrees Leo or Aquarius, you may feel the impact of this long nodal transit.
This is a time to be non-reactive and neutral, which can lesson the intensity.
Stay focused, centered, and grounded.
Be more creative or take a well-deserved rest, which can help transmute any excessive pressures you may experience, and helps you feel more balanced and at peace.
Mars Exalted in Capricorn
Mars, planet of action, has been transiting its exalted sign of Capricorn since January 15, 2026, and remains there through February 22, 2026.
Mars in its strongest sign can be very powerful, invincible, and courageous.
Mars reaches its peak of exaltation at 28 degrees Capricorn on February 20, 2026, so direct this strong vital energy toward achieving positive ambitions.
This could be a time to test your own strength in overcoming personal challenges.
But be watchful of increased impatience or acting too quickly that can bring unnecessary conflicts.
Mercury Retrograde
Mercury, planet of communications, goes retrograde at 28 degrees Aquarius on February 26, 2026.
It remains retrograde until March 20, 2026.
Mercury retrograde periods can be felt more internally, so it’s a good time for deeper self-analysis. But don’t be too self-critical.
Be extra diligent and clear with all communications.
Double-check travel plans.
This is a good time for creative activities, journaling, or organizing your home.
Your meditation practice can be more rewarding.
Summary
February 2026 is marked by a winter eclipse season, long-stationing lunar nodes, an exalted Mars, and a Mercury retrograde. The focal point is a solar eclipse on February 17, 2026, at 4° Aquarius in Dhanishta nakshatra, emphasizing spiritual initiation, revelations, and a redefinition of true wealth beyond material measures. This is followed by a total lunar eclipse on March 3, 2026, in Leo, highlighting themes of personal power, leadership, and self-expression. Throughout this period, heightened sensitivity, karmic surfacing, and accelerated inner processes are expected, calling for introspection, restraint, ethical clarity, and grounded spiritual practice rather than impulsive action.
