5 Reasons To Visit NYC In Summer

New York City is the world’s leading metropolises for art, fashion, food and theatre. It is a city that every traveller should visit at some point. It may be difficult choosing what to do and see because the city is full of possibilities. There are many places of accommodation available at a reasonable cost if you would like to save money to be spent on activities in the city. You can opt to rent a room rather than a full house and get a real feel for NYC culture as you live with the locals.

Reasons to visit NYC

  1. Explore all the boroughs – there are five boroughs in NYC although many people only visit Manhattan and tend to miss out on the rest. You can visit the New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo in the Bronx. Choose between many interesting and authentic restaurants in Queens. You can even choose to explore Brooklyn’s neighbourhoods like Williamsburg, and Red Hook.
  2. New York City has some of the best museums and galleries in the world. Their art scene is unrivalled, and they have many art museums that present art from around the world such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim. There is so much to see beside just art, like the famous blue whale at the American Museum of Natural History.
  3. There are many skyscrapers in Manhattan. since the 1930s skyscrapers like the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building have been admired. They must be seen to be believed and they are said to communicate the city’s sense of vastness.
  4. You can experiment with food in NYC as it is known as the foodie heaven. You will find that NYC has very adventurous, daring chefs who are always experimenting with new recipes.
  5. There are many different neighbourhoods in New York City. It is important to know that there are no two cities in NYC that are the same.

Here are a few other reasons to visit NYC

  1. You can listen to live music every day of the week. There are music shows on every day of the week and many shows are performed by famous artists. Stadiums like Radio City Hall and the Beacon Theatre have sell-out acts. There are also lots of bars that host the up and coming musicians.
  2. Visit Times Square. Many people have this on their bucket list of things to do. While the locals don’t find it that captivating, people who visit Times Square describe the experience as phenomenal.
  3. Enjoy the city even in the dark. NYC has the perfect night scene for those who wake up after the sun goes down.
  4. Cross the Brooklyn Bridge. NYC has 789 bridges and the most iconic is the Brooklyn Bridge which was completed in 1883. The bridge spans the East River between Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan.
  5. You get to experience history first-hand. You may already know that NYC had a part to play in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War.
  6. You can sit on a bench in Washington Square Park which is where Mark Twain had a chat with Robert Louis Stevenson.
  7. Get to know the New Yorkers. NYC has so many different nationalities and ethnicities. It is difficult to make assumptions about the people that live in the city due to their vast differences. You may have an image of New Yorkers as being arrogant, fast talkers and always in a rush. This may seem rude to the rest of the world but to New Yorkers it is pretty normal as they live a fast-paced life. New Yorkers are generally very welcoming and courteous. They are ever willing to help you with directions or if you are in trouble.

There are many reasons to visit NYC especially if you are ready to experience a whole new world. It is not known as the city that never sleeps for nothing. If you are planning on going to NYC, be sure to get to know the city’s culture. Try to find places that allow you to experience the city in all its fullness without spending an arm and a leg. There is so much to do and see even on a budget. You will even find many free events if you look around. Be sure to do some research and ask the locals what they do for fun as they will have some great tips for you.
