We are all guilty of unwittingly turning on our autopilot mode at one point or the other. The subconscious mind is a powerful part of us. It automatically picks up the things we do repeatedly so that we don’t have to keep thinking about doing it every time. But is it possible to live to your full potential if you are not fully aware of your actions and decisions? The short answer to that is no.

Living a conscious lifestyle entails being in charge of every decision you make, and every action you take. It involves being aware of even the most trivial aspects of our lives and requires us to revel in the most boring and unexciting parts of the routine. Many have discovered that while living a conscious lifestyle takes a lot of practice and hard work, the payout is tremendous.

When living thoughtfully, you become more aware of the impact you have on your own life. It teaches you to be conscious about achieving your deepest desires, making you goal-oriented, but more importantly, it allows you to make peace with who you are, and this encourages contentment. If you’re deliberate about the daily basis deals, you can quickly pinpoint the habits that keep you from achieving your goals and learn how to replace them with better ones. You can be true to yourself about your weaknesses and your strengths, your desires, and your fears.

Maintaining a perceived lifestyle has a lot of perks, but how does one break away from the habit of doing without thinking? Admittedly, it is a difficult process, but with patience, consistency, and these 4 simple rules, you can learn how to lead a more conscious lifestyle for your benefit.

(1) Live in the Moment

It is normal to get hung up on something that happened in the past or to fixate on something that is coming in the future. It is natural, but that does not mean that it is good for us. When your mind is occupied with thoughts of either the future or the past, it is absent in the present. This leaves our subconscious in charge of all the things we do in the present, which is how we find ourselves giving in to every whim without fully thinking about the repercussions.

The first rule of maintaining a such a lifestyle is that you have to constantly live in the moment. Don’t just float passively through your days allowing your subconscious mind to take over your duties and interactions. Be aware of the choices you are making as it happens, the words you say as you talk to friends, family, or co-workers, the foods you consume during your day, and the actions and decisions you make that further your personal goals

Living in the moment gives us total control over our lifestyles, allowing us to cut back on bad habits while consciously developing useful ones.

(2) Spend Wisely

Nothing is more valuable than your time, mainly because it is irreplaceable and irrevocable. For that reason, it is crucial that you decide carefully what you spend your time on. Remember, the money you earn from working represents the time you’ve sacrificed working for it. So, before you spend $100 on something you don’t need, ask yourself whether it is worth the time you gave up working for that money.

Spending both your time and money wisely requires a certain level of awareness when it comes to the things that matter to you most. Your biggest expenses should be aligned with your deepest desires. Besides, there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing your dreams become a reality solely through your efforts to make them come true.

(3) Be Picky

There is nothing wrong with wanting only the best for yourself. You should not make a habit of settling for less than you think you deserve. It doesn’t matter how insignificant the matter may be. Even when buying something you like, for example, your favorite cologne, or shampoo, it is essential to verify that they are indeed original products through services like the reverse phone lookup.

Be as picky as possible when it comes to the things that make you feel good about yourself. Never settle for anything that is not good for you. Remember, to maintain a conscious lifestyle, you need to constantly put yourself first, and sometimes this means paying more attention to everything you interact with.

(4) Enjoy the Silence

In this age of information overload, our minds are tuned to seek distraction as soon as it gets a little too quiet. Boredom is abhorred by everyone, and no one wants to be caught watching paint dry when there is so much they can fill their days with.

The truth is, this is not a healthy coping mechanism. We need these moments of silence and inactivity because they remind us to perform a little introspection. This way, the mind gets the chance to assess itself instead of constantly receiving and processing stimuli from the environment.

Maintaining a conscious lifestyle requires one to learn to embrace the silence and the boredom as part of life. Developing this habit tunes your body and mind to be comfortable even when there is absolutely nothing going on. We learn how to be comfortable around ourselves even when there is nothing to distract us. We also develop a habit of assessing our lives on a regular basis, and this greatly improves our sense of direction.

So, even though becoming more mindful and conscious about your day-to-day life is an uphill task, it is one that’s well worth the effort. Maintaining a conscious life will guide you towards the best path to follow to achieve your dreams and ambitions. You lead a better life if you are aware of the impact your actions have on your life and are less likely to fall into the destructive habits we inadvertently push ourselves into to cope with the stresses of life.

Be mindful about your actions and decisions today.
