2020 has been a year of terrible suffering and unspeakable tragedy for many. During these pandemic-stricken times, a daily mantra practice can help us find our center, heal our pain within, and transform personal suffering into spiritual awakening.
Below is a list of ten mantras (a sacred phrase or utterance) that I have incorporated into my daily meditations throughout this year. They have each brought me great faith and comfort during these difficult times. If they have worked for me, they might also work for you! Of course, feel free to play around with each of these mantras until you find one (or more) that most inspires you.
The List:
- “The Power of God is within me. The Grace of God surrounds me.” -Ram Dass-
- “The Lord is enshrined in the hearts of all. The Lord is the supreme reality.” –The Upanishads-
- “Brahman is all. The Self is Brahman.”-The Upanishads-
- “I am the flute by which the breath of Christ flows through.” -Hafiz-
- “Om Mani Padme Hum” (Praise to the Jewel in the Lotus of the Heart) -Ancient Buddhist Mantra-

-Ancient Hindu Mantra-
7) “Om gam Gana Pataye Namaha”
(I bow to the elephant-faced deity who can remove all obstacles) – Ganesha Mantra-
8) “Humans follow Earth

Author Bio:
Forrest Rivers is a writer, teacher, and speaker who lives in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. His personal journey of awakening began at the age of 30 on an awe-inspiring trip to Maui, Hawaii. It was there on that enchanted island where the profound healing power of nature spoke through to his heart and helped him overcome a dark period of alcohol abuse. After returning home from that transformative experience, Forrest became interested in the spiritual traditions of the Far East and began to immerse himself in the teachings of Buddhist, Hindu, and Taoist mystics. Today, Forrest spends a great deal of his time guiding others through lectures and workshops intended to help seekers look within and become the best versions of themselves. His forthcoming book, COVID-19 and Humanity’s Spiritual Awakening is available for pre-order through Conscious Living Media:
