Florida is known for its amazing beaches and waterfront activities that you can enjoy all year round. The Sunshine State attracts over 120 million tourists per year, thousands of whom decide to call Florida home. In 2018, Florida’s real estate market experienced growth over-all, and especially in coastal cities where homes are in high demand. There are many places to call home in Florida, so let’s take a detailed look to see which coastal cities ranked in the top three for property purchases last year.

Miami, Florida

There are not many places like Miami in the world today. It is known world-wide as a fashion destination with design empires rooted in Miami. Also, Miami is home to an iconic night-life that attracts stars from across the globe. It’s nothing to see famous singers, actors, and hip-hop moguls out enjoying the entertainment and night-life in Miami.

The waterfront homes for sale in Miami range from Intracoastal condos and townhomes to estate style mansions with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Many homes in Miami have been featured on MTV Cribs and Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous for their over-the-top luxury and spectacular waterfront locations. Plus, Miami is home to the best restaurants and dining experiences money can buy.  You can savor locally caught, 5-star seafood on South Beach, or an Italian feast that transports you to Marco Square in Venice with each bite.

When it comes to living in Miami, it’s not surprising that people come from everywhere to be a part of the outdoor lifestyle and electric atmosphere.

The Treasure Coast

One of the most underrated places to buy a waterfront home is the Treasure Coast of Florida. This quaint area is comprised of several small cities nestled onto the St Lucie River and Atlantic Ocean. A hidden, beachfront town called Stuart is located about 40 minutes north of West Palm Beach. This friendly and welcoming city is alive with waterfront activities such as boating, fishing, snorkeling and swimming. Plus, many of the properties offer ocean access via the river, so residents get amazing waterfront views just about anywhere they live.

There are single family homes in Stuart with deep-water dockage, and some with oversized lots to accommodate any water toys.  There are also full-service oceanfront condo buildings that offer concierge services with beach sand as the backyard.

Stuart has an easy-going atmosphere where you can enjoy delicious food at waterfront restaurants in your shorts and sandals. Plus, boutique shops and ice cream parlors line the historic downtown streets. The city is set around the water in Stuart, and people can enjoy the outdoors year-round.

Ft Lauderdale

This area goes back to the 60’s in Florida, and has been a welcoming spring break destination for decades.  Recently, however, Ft Lauderdale has undergone a transformation, especially near the oceanfront. People come here from around the world to enjoy Las Olas, which caters to upscale shopping, restaurants, luxury hotels and full-service condominium buildings.

Moreover, Ft Lauderdale beach is fast becoming a luxury waterfront condo hot-spot. Ft Lauderdale’s redevelopment included tearing down most of the old oceanfront hotels and buildings, and replacing them with huge towers of condominiums.

The beaches are always full of people and water activities that attract people looking for beachfront fun, or to retire in style. Plus, young successful business people are finding waterfront condo life in Ft Lauderdale irresistible. Even overseas investors are buying condos on Ft Lauderdale strip near the iconic W-Hotel.

No matter what your interests are, there is a coastal city in Florida that offers exactly what you want.   From high energy lifestyles in Miami, to quaint riverfront homes in Stuart, to fun in the sun Ft Lauderdale condos, Florida has something for everyone to enjoy.
