What is Better a Longboard or Cruiser?

Skateboards and longboards are two different things; they do look similar, but on closer inspection, you will find them quite different.

The skateboard was invented in the 50s when a group of surfers decided to make a product for surfing, and then they made their first-generation skateboard by putting wheels on a flat wooden plank. The longboard came later, not invented until the 90s, and has a much broader base than a skateboard.

Longboard vs Cruiser Skateboard: The Battle for Fittest!

Your Need

The decision to get a skateboard or longboard all depends upon your need. While cruiser skateboarding offers a compromise between longboarding and traditional skateboarding, they tend not to be as comfortable for longer rides. They are suitable for where the surface is hard and flat, like skate parks that have a vast space to perform the tricks.

Meanwhile, longboards are better for longer trips, and, while only designed for street riding, they can handle rougher terrain better than skateboards.

The Size

Skateboarding and longboarding are both fun-loving sports that people of any age can enjoy. Cruiser skateboards are smaller and lighter, making them easier to control and faster to accelerate.

Longboards are larger and heavier but can achieve faster speeds because of their size. Also, if you plan to ride around rocks or hilly terrain, you will probably prefer a longboard.

For Commute

Both cruiser skateboards and longboards are made for commuting; it is just a matter of which works better for you. Cruisers are lightweight, making them easy to carry on buses or into class.

Longboards are better in places with a lot of hills since cruiser skateboards can become wobbly at high speeds. Stability is really where longboards shine. Especially for beginners, stability should be a top priority to make sure your commute is as safe as possible, and if you choose the best longboard out there, you can't go wrong.

Conclusion: Should I get a Longboard or a Cruiser Skateboard?

You may be wondering to yourself, “How do I choose between a longboard and cruiser?” The answer is simple; it all depends on your end goal. If you plan on riding for long distances or on uneven terrain, you won't go wrong with the best longboard for you. However, if you have a shorter commute or are looking for a more portable and trick-friendly option, then cruisers are probably a better option for you.
