How Introverts Can Handle Rejection During Dating

The world classifies people into three personality types – introvert, extrovert and ambivert. Introversion and extroversion were terms introduced by Carl Jung. Ambivert is a relatively new term and earlier only two types had existed. An introverted person can prefer a “minimally stimulating environment” and also need some alone time to recharge. A few traits that introverts are identified by are:

  • Introverts are drained by social interactions.
  • They like time to themselves.
  • They only have a close circle of friends.
  • The person likes working alone and prefers writing more than talking.
  • Others may think that the introverted person zones out quite a lot.

Overall, we understand that introverts are quiet and shy people who don’t too well in large social settings. So, we can understand that it could be hard and laboring for such a person to meet someone new and then get into a relationship. It is definitely not easy to meet and get to know someone and then date, for an introvert. There could be dates in social settings or gatherings and having to spend a lot of time with the partner. And after all this, if the introvert gets rejected while dating, it can be quite hard. But there are ways how one can handle this event.

Do what you do best

It is a difficult time when someone breaks up with you, especially if you are an introvert, because you have probably stepped out of your comfort zone to manage the relationship. But love and breakups are a part of life so it is best to keep going with your normal daily life. Do what you do best and recharge alone. Read, paint and enjoy your personal time, as you stay home in your personal space. Most people take time to overcome a breakup and as time goes by, you will overcome the rejection. In the meanwhile, be the cool person you are and carry on.

Distract by sensual acts

Introverts generally don’t prefer large crowds and cannot distract themselves by going out and partying it away. But one of the best ways you can distract yourself while being alone is through sensual entertainment. Maybe you could go for solo pleasure by using devices or even AI sex dolls and feel good. Sexual release can give instant gratification and the human body releases feel good hormones. Any time you feel low, it is perfectly ok to indulge in physical solo pleasure, any way you want to and get good feels.

Talk and meet people close to you

It may be hard to make conversation with a group of strangers but each introvert could possibly have one or two close friends or family with whom they can connect and chat anytime. Human contact is essential and sometimes we would want to just vent. In these times, an introvert can connect to a close friend and talk it out. A lot of therapists recommend talking it out because it instantly reduces the mental load a person carries when going through a difficult time.

Believe in yourself

After an introverted person gets rejected during dating, even when they put in so much effort or step out of their comfort zone for the partner; it can be disheartening. There could be a feeling of distrust and dismay. The person could feel that he/she may not be able to connect with a potential romantic interest because they are just not that outgoing. But this belief is wrong because there is someone out there who will match your frequency.

Getting over a rejection and not losing faith takes time. But one needs to be patient and meanwhile have fun with close people or enjoy solo sexual pleasure through options such as My Robot Doll.
