Do you realize that those that dwell on health, are generally healthier and those that think about disease, are often sickly? We become what we think about. Our intelligent cells perform miraculous tasks that take their commands from our thoughts. Some of the thoughts affected us before we were in our body, but the majority of our thoughts are impacting us now. Overall, the thoughts of yesterday are our present day reality. So in essence, if we want a free upgrade in our life, it must begin today to have an effect on tomorrow. There is no reason to wait until tomorrow. Developing your self is an essential part of each day.
Above all, we must take time to nurture ourselves. Morning times are the sweet spot for me. If you are an insomniac, the middle of the night could be your calling. But, the important thing is being aware that you have the ability to make subtle, lasting changes in your life, if you so wish. We all have this ability. It may seem easier for some, but we are not in their shoes. Easier is a very relative term. Some just began sooner than later and maybe were a bit more persistent. Resist judging yourself or comparing yourself to another. Remember the main goal: Upgrading Your Life!! We all have to begin somewhere, why not now? Or begin again! There is no right or wrong way to do this. This is what has worked for me.
A simple recipe to Upgrade Your Life.
Ingredients:
You
Desire for the upgrade
Awareness that it is possible
Something to listen/read to inspire you
Something to write in (for your eyes only)
Hopeful expectation
Directions:
- Set an intention before bed each night for meditation and writing the next morning.Along with this intention, feel that it will have a positive effect on your being. After a while the intention is no longer necessary because meditation and writing are part of your life experience.
- Choose a quiet place so to be undisturbed. Often I will wake early and use ear buds as I lay in bed.I choose a guided meditation or meditation music and lay and meditate. Then I rise and write. I leave the bedroom and go to a comfortable chair where it is quiet. It could be outside on a deck, by the fire in cold months, or by a window. These are my favorite choices.
- Write. Don't worry about what you are going to write. Write your thoughts. Ask yourself questions, don't worry about the answers. Write down your desires, things you would like to see happen. Think about the “what” not the “how”.
- Be consistent. Some days will be easier than others, don’t beat yourself up on the days that you can’t make it happen. Begin again the next day. Make the determination to do it and follow through.
Over the years I have written in various sized journals. My favorite is a hard cover, 8 ½ x 11” with thicker paper.
Here are links to some of my favorite guided mediations or mediation music.
