Whole Foods Quietly Halts GMO Labeling Requirements

In an email sent by Whole Foods President and Chief Operations Officer A.C. Gallo announced that the company is pausing its GMO Food labeling requirements. The requirements, which were scheduled to take effect on September 1, would have required that suppliers disclose on their packaging whether or not their products contained genetically modified ingredients. The requirements, which were announced five years ago, were three months away from being implemented.

Two Major Legal Victories in Federal Court Case to End Water Fluoridation

The Fluoride Action Network (FAN) together with a coalition of organizations and private citizens, presented a petition1 to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) calling on the agency to exercise its authority to prohibit the addition of fluoridation chemicals to the public’s drinking water supplies under Section 21 of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). FAN’s petition was made on the grounds that a large body of animal, cellular and human research shows that fluoride is neurotoxic at doses within the range now seen in fluoridated communities, and included over 2,500 pages of scientific documentation detailing these health risks. The EPA filed a motion to dismiss FAN’s petition but it was denied by a federal judge, as was the EPA’s motion to limit evidence that can be considered.
