With the development of technology, there are plenty of methodologies but in the recent scenario Scrum as a methodology has proven to be one of the best. Scrum has been successful in transforming project management in various industries, with the IT industry being is one of them.  With the use of scrum, the tech companies have become extremely agile and the methodology helped them to learn how to speed up their entire development process. It has also taught that collaboration and communication are the best ways when it comes to accomplishment.

Do you think scrum is over hyped?  Well, let me tell you that it's not.  It is a proven process and many industries are relying on scrum to accomplish their goals.  For instances, militaries do depend on scrum for the deployment of ships. Educational institutions use scrum to deliver crucial projects to the consumers.

Agile is a great approach towards software development.  In an agile environment it is easier to accomplish the goals and find out the solutions of the ever-changing requirements of the consumers since agile as an approach promotes collaboration, team work, communication etc. It is easier for companies to opt for agile to manufacture greater products.

Let us give some examples of the companies to elaborate how scrum had served them well-being

  1. IBM- IBM is one amongst the reputed tech companies in the globe which is basically known as hardware creators. IBM has implemented scrum as a method and gained a home amount of success. Scrum has portrayed a very integral role in the overall betterment of the business operation of the company. The improvement is visible as now they have come up with their very own management software which includes agile environment known as IBM Rational Team Concert.

The idea of implementing scrum has proven to be successful and the results are pretty amazing. The company witnessed a huge improvement in each section like metrics, revolution and maintenance, timely delivery, defect backlog etc.

  1. Google- Google is the biggest tech giant of the world. The company is extremely successful and stands tall with its great success. The credit of their goes to the agile environment that they work in. The reason behind their on-time delivery of updates is the agile environment.

Google has various apps such as Google Maps, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Assistant so on and so forth. All these applications need periodic updates which need to be evaluated by the tester before they go to users.

Apart from these, Amazon, Netflix, Spotify are the companies which have seen great success in agile way of working.

The agile way promotes the idea of deployment of software in particular stages. This is the reason the companies are moving forward towards the agile way. The old methodology is no longer beneficial and practical in the new fast paced world of technology.  For an instance, suppose a company is looking for a solution for transportation, if the companies work according to the old methodology then it will take many years to build the car to first hand it over to the client. Then the company receives feedbacks, realignment and adjustment. But in the agile environment, they will manufacture the seats and the engine first.

In agile environment, the team always have some focus set which they meet at each stage, this is basically known as sprint. Sprints can be created on a weekly or biweekly basis. Each and every sprint begins with the monitoring of what needs to be accomplished during that particular spring cycle. The team throughout the process track the entire progress and by the end of each sprint the crew reflects upon the learning process and utilizes it for the betterment of the next sprint. Like this the clients actually get to see what they are going to get at a very early stage, instead of waiting till the completion of the product.

Scrum as a method is extremely agile and the basic mantra of this agile environment is to work in a collaboration, to have transparency amongst the team mates, to be equally involved in each sprints and meetings.  The IT industry being one of the pillars of the economy has achieved some tremendous growth by the implementation of this agile framework. This is the reason that many other renowned tech companies like TCS are also thinking of implementing scrum.
