As children across the world eagerly count down to December 25, one 10-year-old in Blackburn has already started the celebrations.
Jacob Pickering was born without his lower left arm but, thanks to a generous donation from a philanthropic initiative, he was given the gift of a lifetime.
Sat by the family tree, nestled as close as siblings could be, Jacob and his two-year-old brother George took no time at all to decimate the blue, snowflake-covered paper encasing Jacob’s early Christmas present.
The flurry of wrapping paper barely had a chance to settle before Jacob opened the box beneath, pulling out a brand new “bionic” arm. Waving it triumphantly in the air, his joyful excitement was infectious.
