I’ve been doing a great deal of personal work lately. It seems to be the best approach to beating back the insanity in this world, and no matter how many times I think I’ve gotten a handle on life, something comes up to remind me how much more growth I have yet to do.
My aim is to become fearless, strong, emotionally resilient, and exceptionally powerful, so that I may more courageously face the many present concerns and dangers which threaten our stability and security. And think about it… never before have the freedoms and liberties of so many people been under attack. We need our strength now more than ever, and I intend to be part of the solution.
This has led me to shadow work, which I would describe as the process of examining your unconscious behaviors and drivers in search of the areas in which you’re not living in your full power. It’s about understanding the primary archetypes which provide the blueprints for all humans, and asking whether or not you’re living into the healthiest expression of these archetypes. If you’re not, then you’re living into their shadows, the places where darkness and negativity lurk.
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” ~C. G. Jung
The key life process archetypes are the King/Queen, Warrior, Wise Man/Woman or Magician, and Lover. Each of these archetypes contains the potential for a mature or an immature expression of the energy they embody. For example, the immature expression of the King archetype is the child tyrant or weakling.
Shadow work is also about the distinction between child psychology and adult psychology, and when you examine the general quality of individuals in our world today, it’s easy to see that we are living in a world of grown children. It’s startling even. There are few paths for initiation into adulthood, and our culture loves to encourage us to live into our immature shadows. Furthermore, the powers-that-be know full well that a population of grown children who fear death and who fear their power are easy to exploit and control.
In the classic and excellent book King, Warrior, Magician, Lover by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette, the authors ask what happens to a society if the ritual processes by which these identities are formed become discredited, as they have been.
“In the case of men, there are many who either had no initiation into manhood or who had pseudo-initiations that failed to evoke the needed transition into adulthood. We get the dominance of Boy psychology. Boy psychology is everywhere around us, and its marks are easy to see. Among them are abusive and violent acting-out behaviors against others, both men and women; passivity and weakness, the inability to act effectively and creatively in one’s own life and to engender life and creativity in others (both men and women); and, often, an oscillation between the two – abuse/weakness, abuse/weakness.” ~Moore & Gillette, King, Warrior, Magician, Lover
Without individuals who understand and intentionally operate from their highest selves, there is little hope of overcoming the force being projected onto us. We will crumble, falter and quit. We will lose.
Should we rise up, however, and seek expansion into our fully awakened, mature, archetypal power, the control system would collapse in on itself, and the world would again have the chance of experiencing freedom and unregulated prosperity. This is our only hope. For this, I feel that a sincere endeavor into shadow work and its archetypes is absolutely critical for all who wish to participate in the coming uprising.
For this, I think the following presentation by Paul Chek offers exceptional clarity and insight into these processes and how to realign your life with the highest manifestations of these energies. It’s titled, ‘Why Kings Kill Your Children.’
Here’s a comment I recently received from Paul, which I feel succinctly describes our current situation in relation to personal development. When I read this I am reminded of the fact that personal growth is a responsibility that all of us carry, whether we choose to engage or not.
“If we have not healed our survival archetype imbalances (victim, saboteur, prostitute, or (eternal) child), then we are likely to meet the repressed contents/judgments/painful incidents that led us into the lessons of these key archetypes so that we can be aware of what is limiting our potential. Once we clear these perceptual distortions and imbalances within ourselves, then our vision expands because the “blinders are off.”
Jung makes a very profound statement in this regard when he states: “The Unconscious always meets you from the OUTSIDE until you meet it on the INSIDE.”
This is EXACTLY what is happening on a global level now.
We are meeting all the repressed fear, judgments, and the products of our programming (Kings and sorcerers) on a global level; the beauty of this is that now we can all SEE IT if we are mature and wise enough to “look.”
It is only through engaging the beliefs that lead to the choices that resulted in the situation we are in (world domination by a very few with negative, selfish, Huberistic intentions, and almost zero consciousness of the earth as a living being) that we can each own our part of the collective Dark Night of the Soul.” ~Paul Chek
