Steve Bannon said the recent Israel-Iran ceasefire brokered by President Trump was mainly to save Israel, which had overextended militarily and was running low on defensive munitions. According to Bannon, President Trump stepped in to end the war, aided by diplomatic support from Qatar.
NOTE: On Thursday, June 19, 2025, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt read a statement dictated by President Donald Trump, indicating that due to a “substantial chance of negotiations” with Iran, he would decide within the next two weeks whether to take military action. This was echoed in posts on X, where Trump was quoted saying he was giving Iran a period of time, specifically “two weeks,” to reach a political solution.
Less than 48 hours later, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, Trump authorized U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. The operation, dubbed “Operation Midnight Hammer,” began at midnight Eastern Time on Friday, June 20, 2025, with B-2 stealth bombers departing from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. The strikes commenced around 6:40 p.m. ET on Saturday (2:10 a.m. Iranian time on Sunday, June 22, 2025).
Thus, the bombing occurred roughly 30 hours after Trump’s statement about taking “two weeks” to decide. Steve Bannon's explanation makes sense.
