If you are a new or expecting mother, chances are good that you are weighing your options about whether or not you want to use a breast pump to drain and use milk for a later time. If you are thinking about using a breast pump, here are some major considerations that you should make.

1. You don’t have to use infant formula

There are major benefits to babies drinking their mother’s. milk. Not only is it highly nutritious, it can also help a baby gain necessary health benefits such as antibodies. Breast milk helps protect babies from developing asthma and allergies, formula does not.

With a breast pump, you can make sure that your baby is getting all of the benefits from fresh milk.

2. They make it easier to return to work

One of the major decisions that new moms have to make is how much work they will take off in order to help raise their baby. For many mothers, returning to work shortly after giving birth is a reality. With that being said, just because you are not at home does not mean your baby shouldn’t get the food they need to grow. Storing your own milk so that your sitter can feed it to your baby during work hours is a major benefit.

3. Gives others in the family a chance to feed the baby

Feeding a new baby is a major way for parents and other family members such as siblings and grandparents to bond. If you as the mother use a breast pump, you are being incredibly generous in helping the rest of your family welcome the baby into the family as well. It is as sweet as it is adorable. Click here.

Breastfeeding is obviously incredibly important, but that doesn’t mean that your rest and relaxation isn’t important too. Using a breast pump gives you the chance to simply chill after a long day of work while your partner takes care of the baby.

5. You can create a nice supply in case you leave town

If you have to travel for work, you will be able to build up a pretty large supply of breast milk so that your baby can stay happy and full during your business trip. Surely, your baby will miss you for the days that you are out of town, but they won’t have to miss your healthful milk at least!

6. Relieve pain from engorgement

When a mother is producing milk, there is a chance that breasts become overly engorged which can create quite a bit of pain and strain on the breast and skin. Using a breast pump is a great way to relieve that pressure and pain.

7. Makes it easier to feed baby with a bottle

If you are looking to give your body a rest and want to feed your baby with a bottle, the fresh milk will make it far more likely for your baby to latch onto the bottle.
