Today we have moved into the 13-day period of Listening Earth energy. This energy brings the opportunity to do inner work in quiet contemplation and peace. It is considered to be a time of darkness, but darkness need not frighten us. Darkness can always be seen as a time of going deeper–a time of greater realizations and understanding. Look into the dark sky and feel the peace that is there for us whenever we connect to that energy. However, the Maya believed that the energy of this period also showed people wandering around confused in half-light, unable to see the true reality. Certainly, we see signs of confusion in people all around us now, too.
Listening energy is a period when things in the outer world may be revealed, and we are seeing evidence of this already. It is a time of the dark before the dawn. Inappropriate responses to this energy can cause us to be pessimistic, troubled, or controlling. Appropriate use of Listening energy has us practicing empathy, care, and taking personal responsibility for our thoughts, our words, our beliefs, and our actions. Going deeply into our own hearts is the path of wisdom during this thirteen-day period.
