Injecting New Thoughts Into Our World

Posted by on January 27, 2021 in Media & Arts with 0 Comments

Is the pandemic draining our minds? We feel stuck listening to the same speeches over and over again. The media have been telling the same pandemic story since March 2020. One year later, it feels as if our creative brain has shut down. When was the last time you’ve had a new thought?

The pandemic narrative is shrinking our thinking space. While there is a health concern, there’s also a way to handle the notifications and discoveries about COVID-19. Governments, authorities, and journalists have not made a good job of moving the pandemic story forward. The world has hit pause in early 2020 and it’s taken our creative brain with it.

New ideas create new opinions, new inspirations, and new horizons. More importantly, they keep you questioning your surroundings, finding new ways to cope with the events of the world, and growing. So how do you break the pandemic-related creative block?

Reconnect with arts

Arts is a valuable source of inspiration because it touches our minds and our hearts at the same time. Indeed, there’s more to art than meets the eye. It is an emotional journey that takes you back to meaningful moments in life, such as a photo with your partner. This could be enough to unlock your creative potential by transporting you to another time and space.

Arts can also be a zeitgeist testimonial of its time, revealing the thoughts and emotions of the artist when they produce the specific piece. It could be Van Gogh’s over-stimulated take on life, or Dali’s questioning the need for logic in an absurd world. Regardless of the piece that touches it, it can encourage you to take a new perspective.

Try out some new movies

Does a movie count as a cultural awakening? It can if you are willing to move away from the contrived views of the typical Hollywood blockbuster. Why not reach out to other cultures to discover new ways of thinking? Digital tech advice platform, Troypoint, recommends a list of the best torrent sites around to explore something different.

Reach out to the philosophy books

Philosophy is, by definition, the art of thinking. Unlike common belief, it’s got nothing to do with social media wisdom that is shared despite its lack of cognitive meaning. Philosophy, on the other hand, refers to the art of conducting one’s reasoning using logical techniques. Philosophy questions statements and its surrounding, using analytical skills to review, contradict, progress. As you analyze old ideas and sayings, you could unlock new conclusions and deductions. Philosophy changes the world by finding an authentic meaning.

Clear your mind

The endless repetition of pandemic wisdom can clog up your mind. It’s becoming so overwhelming that it’s now embedded in all thought processes. To free yourself, you need to clear your mind of the pandemic narrative. If you’re familiar with stream of consciousness techniques, they can help move past ideas and obstacles that control your mind. You can use a journal to explore stream of consciousness writing. It can be a fun exercise to reconnect with yourself.

Don’t let your world fall at the mercy of neigh-sayers and repetitive narrative. The pandemic is a health risk, but it doesn’t mean it should hold our minds hostage. Free thinking is the ultimate form of freedom, and we are at risk of losing it by falling into a routine of narrow thoughts.
