For as long as I can remember, I’ve always felt torn between what the adults around me were always telling me and what my inner guidance was telling me. While the adults in my family, school, and community claimed to be the authority on many topics in life and that I “should” do this or that, I always got this “buzz” or sensation in my heart or gut whenever something didn’t resonate truth with me. Whenever an adult was, in other words, basically feeding me bullshit, my little spidey senses would go haywire.
I often would react to it and challenge my teachers, who were not rather fond of it. But some surprisingly was. I remember particularly it seemed to be the art and music teachers who never made me feel like what they were saying was disingenuine, and that they were always relating to me on a mutual level, rather than one of superiority; and let’s face it, this in itself has an energy to it that is much more welcoming and open to being received, especially by children. Perhaps this is why I always felt drawn to the arts…
While as a child I didn’t necessarily know what this feeling or sensation was that always came when things were not “for me”, I always knew to trust it, because during those times I didn’t or was forced to go against my intuition, I often experienced some very unpleasant reminders that I really, really should have.
While it’s not recent news by any means, many people still are unaware that the heart contains its very own nervous system. These neurons can learn, feel, and even remember and are what is now known as the “heart-brain”. The heart is literally the first organ formed in the body as an embryo and doesn’t this bring new meaning to the saying, “come from the heart”? because as far as the creation of the human body goes, everything literally does, and that is truly fascinating!
The heart even creates a larger energy field than the brain! The Heart Math Institute has been doing extensive research on the power of the human heart and its energy field and I highly recommend learning more about the amazing discoveries they have uncovered. While some of us are more sensitive to our own intuition, we all have the ability to tap into what the heart is communicating to us. All it takes is some honest intention to connect to that place within yourself and then a willingness to surrender to the guidance that you receive.
