For those of you have not heard of Cymatics before, it is a term coined by Hans Jenny (1904-1972), a Swiss follower of the philosophical school known as anthroposophy. [Source: Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cymatics] “Cyma” comes from the Greek word for “wave” and Cymatics is modal vibrational phenomena. Or in other words, it is the beautiful, intrinsic, and geometrically perfect patterns that emerge when matter such as water or sand placed in or on a plate that is disrupted by a sound wave of a particular frequency. Particular frequencies always produce the same patterns in any medium and can be repeated and validated over and over. Below is a few incredible examples of this done in sand on vibratory plate…
Now that you have a general idea of what Cymatics is, let’s dive deeper into how it actually applies to us all from our innermost cells to the outer stretches of our Universe. I think it’s safe to say that even with what little actual “science” and physics we are taught in schools these days, we all have an idea that sound and light are pretty important in not only how we perceive our world, but also in how our very world was created.
If you’re a religious person (I am not), you might reference the Bible which states, “In the beginning, there was sound…” and not take this so literally, however it can be taken quite literally regardless of how religious (or not) that you are, simply by observing the repeatable changes that occur from the pressure of the forces of the sound waves upon matter.
Sound obviously plays an incredible role in not only the creation of, manipulation of but also the destruction of matter. We can easily see this demonstrated in a glass breaking under the intense wailing of an opera singer. The sound waves cause the atoms in the glass to vibrate so rapidly to the point they become unstable and collapse or break their form and thus we end up with a shattered glass. This is also how our ears get damaged if we listen to too much loud music! 🙂
So what’s the celestial connection to cymatics? Well, for one if you’ve ever actually looked at a star or planet through a telescope what we are told are giant gas balls of light or desolate planets, appear to be vibrating patterns similar to what we see in Cymatics along with beautiful geometric shapes and luminous colors. Some examples of these star images are below…Look familiar?
Now, I’m not sure entirely what to make of this, all I know is I’ve never been one to trust what I’ve been taught in school as ultimate truth and to always question what doesn’t feel right or complete. And so I’ve simply done that here with the stars after my studies of Cymatics lead me down some incredible rabbit holes. I hope you are also brave enough to follow your own white rabbits…wherever they may lead you.
