Gone are the days when hair colors ranged from blacks to golds, and the idea was primarily to either cover the grey hair or bring in a slight change from your natural color. Today, its there are some different color treatments such as balayage and streaks that look cool and funky. On the downside, hair fashion is not like your regular apparel fashion.

You cannot get rid of it quickly if you do not like it. If you are planning to get your hair color treated, by all means, do so. However, remember a few things before you take your final call as the choices you make now will be affecting your hair in the long run.

When you will go out for hair color shopping, you will notice that you will find hair colors for all kinds of price ranges. Some will cost less than five bucks while some will go way beyond $20. Most newbies get tempted to buy the low-cost options since why spend too much when you are just experimenting.

This is the biggest blunder that you can make. Most high priced options are launched by professional hair color brands such as Loreal, Wella, Toni and Guy, and Schwarzkopf. These brands are FDA approved, and they come up with their products after years of research, and therefore they put forth the best on the racks. On the other hand, the low-cost options are mostly subpar formulas with potent chemicals that can cause severe damage to your hair.

Hair Care Regimen

If you are getting your hair dyed, know that your regular shampoo and conditioning routine will not be enough for your hair. Your hair will need extra nutrition and nourishment regime to keep it healthy. Make sure your hair is oiled regularly, and you have your protein treatments routinely done. If you do not want to invest time and money to get salon based protein treatments, you can make your protein hair masks at home and use them as a pre-conditioner.

Shampoo and Conditioner

With your hair colored now, your regular $3 bottle of drugstore shampoo will not be enough to take care of your locks. There is the special shampoo for colored hair available in the market, and you need to choose from one of them. You will find many options from high-end professional shampoos to a few reputed drugstore options such as Tresemme. Choose the one that suits you best, but it is recommended to go for a professional hair brand,
