Barbara Stokes established Green Structure Homes of Alabama in 2008. The GSH company’s success has been a driving force for them to give back to the community who has put them in the position that they now enjoy. Recently, GSH of Alabama Company has partnered with the Habitat for Humanity of Madison County with the goal of building homes for the less fortunate who are living in abject poverty without a roof over their heads.

Habitat for Humanity is a popular organization with many chapters around the world. They are well-known for taking the issue of shelter to heart, and building homes with donations and volunteer work so they can address this basic necessity that has unfortunately become a privilege in some parts of the world. This non-profit organization does not believe in outright dole outs, so they make housing affordable at reduced rates and zero interest. Clients are invested in building their own homes, and they are tapped to help build other people’s homes. This is seen as cycle of giving and paying kindness forward.

The latest Hurricane Harvey drenched the town with its massive downpour and strong winds. This was a problem for people without shelter because no one can withstand such turbulent conditions without a safe place to seek refuge in. The income of majority of the families in the county is not so big, and half of what they earn already goes to housing. Budgets are tight and making ends meet become a total struggle.

The dire socio economic situation of others is what compelled Barbara Stokes and her company to help out. This is in line with her company’s vision of helping and caring for the community that has given them good business all throughout the years. Besides, they see the success of the Green Structure Homes of Alabama as not all monetary in nature. They care more about the relationships they have built and the impact they have made. Touching the lives of others is the primary objective. And this is the reason why they see their house projects as worthy endeavors because they don’t just build houses but homes.

Concrete Contribution

The GSH of Alabama company donated over one thousand sheets of dry wall. On top of that, they delivered a huge truckload of Hardie Fascia. Eighty thousand square feet of linoleum flooring were also given away for the construction of homes in the Madison County through the help of Habitat for Humanity.

Barbara Stokes and her team are proud to be a part of such an honorable mission. Knowing their material donations will be put to good use is very rewarding because helping other human beings should be a priority. To date, Habitat for Humanity has actually built two hundred four homes for Madison County Families.
