Stress, a lack of sleep, different make-up routines, allergies, even our heritage, are often to blame for those unwanted “grocery bags” that we sometimes see underneath our eyes. There doesn’t seem to be any type of an actual medical condition, other than from swelling due to an injury, that causes puffiness beneath our eyes, so how can we prevent and treat this common disorder?
Unique Treatment or an Ordinary Answer?
We’ve all seen people in spa-like locations or similar situations with cucumber slices on their eyes, their head wrapping in a towel and wearing a robe with some sort of a liquid mask on their face. But does this green fruit (yes it’s a fruit and not a vegetable) have special properties or unique ingredients that assist our eyes?
You would think it would be the something indigenous to the cucumber itself, but instead it’s a couple of more ordinary, natural properties, like good old, H₂0 or water and the coolness factor. Cucumbers are one of the highest, moisture-rich ingredients found in the produce aisle and together with them being refrigerated before application, these two properties is what truly aids our eyes and offers relief from those bags.
Other Sensible Solutions
Keeping well hydrated will help with a variety of different health-related dilemmas, including keeping our eyes looking fresh and well-rested. And speaking of rest, getting plenty of sleep will also help with our puffy eyes and overall health.
But beware, too much sleep is just as hazardous as not getting enough shut-eye and can also lead to those unwanted bags underneath our peepers. Anything beyond the traditional seven to nine hours of shut-eye can lead to a myriad of health problems.
Be sure to get the right amount of sleep and stay hydrated to ensure your “windows to the soul” will see clearly and look their best. Be sure to check out this infographic, “5 Ways To Remove Bags Under Your Eyes” for some more tips on keeping your eyes looking their best.
