In a groundbreaking study, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) found chlormequat, a toxic pesticide, in 80% of people tested. Linked to serious reproductive health issues in animals, its presence in people and popular oat-based foods like Cheerios and Quaker Oats raises serious human health concerns. Chlormequat was not allowed on oats sold in the U.S. before 2018.
In the above video, hear from EWG experts on what you need to know about chlormequat and how join the fight to get this chemical out of our food and our bodies.

Chlormequat is a dangerous agricultural chemical linked to infertility, nervous system harm and disrupted fetal growth in animals. EWG tests exposed concerning levels of chlormequat in our food supply, despite the fact it is currently only allowed on imported oats. But that could be about to change.
The EPA is now proposing to allow chlormequat for use on crops like oats, wheat and barley grown in the U.S. and set allowable levels of chemical residues in meat, milk, poultry and eggs. The EPA is well aware that this chemical will enter our food supply but is relying on outdated science to say it's safe.
