BIOLOGY
- the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tends to survive and produce more offspring. The theory of its action was first fully expounded by Charles Darwin and is now believed to be the main process that brings about evolution.
When you hear the term “evolution”, one can’t help but think of Charles Darwin. The famous ‘naturalist, geologist, and biologist, best known for his contributions to the science of evolution’, according to Wikipedia.
While evolution is the most commonly accepted theory of how all species on the planet originated since Genesis, I’m less focused on the scientific labels within that linear progression of our species and more concerned with the intricate unfolding our own unique Souls.
Now, that may sound like I have more of a religious approach to my “beliefs”, however, I simply believe that science is blind if it loses sight of how important the unknown is. And what I mean by that is all theories, hypotheses, and even eventually proven equations once came from this dreaded “unknown”. And this is the same place that “inner” knowledge comes from.
When science and spirituality can be friends and even work together, they both become better they were on their own. This reminds me of the very first article I’ve ever written for CLN, (The Entangled Universe: The Missing Link Between Science and Spirituality – A.H. Almaas [VIDEO]) where I explain that even as a young child it never made any sense to me why both science and religion need to be at odd and furthermore put up a wall between them that neither refuses to talk about.
Sharing the keys…
But when the wall comes down it quickly becomes apparent that each holds keys to what the other has been seeking this whole time, and if they work together, applying scientific principles to spiritual concepts, what we end up with is what I like to call the perfect storm of wisdom.
This also applies to Darwin’s theory of evolution in that while it claims through biology, genetics, etc. that we all come from a common origin, it fails to recognize that we are more than biological entities. And even science itself has since proven that we are electromagnetic beings that are not only affected by the structures and cycles of nature itself but interconnected on a level most cannot even feel that allow humans to communicate in ways they may or may not even be aware of.
Plainly put, energy speaks. We can all think of a time we felt goosebumps just walking into a creepy place, or knew right away someone was bad news, or perhaps even felt in our gut when a dear friend got hurt even though you were miles apart at the time.
Science and psychology are only beginning to tap the surface of what spirituality has been digging deep in for eons. And when we can shift our perspective of making our place in the outer world our reflection of success, we begin to realize that we actually have the power to change the outside world; simply by what we perceive it to be.
You see, no one can ever know us. And we can never truly know another. All we can know is the preconceived beliefs about ourselves we wish to share and even when it comes to how people accept, deny, judge or love us, we can still perceive all of those things as completely different intentions.
So what can we learn from this?
For one, that science offers much more than hard, empirical, cold, unfeeling work. And that spirituality is not all “positivity” with its head always in the clouds. Quantum Mechanics (one of my favorite things in the world!) actually works to bridge the two in my opinion and has taught me the most valuable lesson perhaps of my entire waking life…
That while the evolutionary theory of Darwinism can show us where we are in the crowd, the evolution that matters most actually occurs within each of us, on a personal level, as our own lives progress. As we look back over the years, we can see past physical aging and so-called maturity as markers of physical evolution, but it’s what we do with this that determines how deep your inner evolution takes you.
Because when we can turn within ourselves without comparison or basing our next course of action off the opinions of others, we begin to realize that it is our own opinions, the one on the loudspeaker of our inner world that is ultimately creating how our lives unfold, and how we perceive that unfolding.
We can sit and wait for the rain of knowledge to fall upon us, or we can be brave enough to be our own source of growth. The first leaves you a bud in waiting to bloom, the latter allows you to bloom from your own spiritual saturation…
Evolution of the species tells the story of us all on one level, while spiritual evolution tells the story of you on every level. And to me, that’s the evolution that matters most. 🙂
