The use of cannabidiol (CBD) oil has long been a hotly debated and touchy subject. With so many people divided in their opinion over its practical use and safety, it’s been difficult to procure it in the past due to strict laws and regulations. However, with more and more places legalizing cannabis itself and lifting tough rules on the use of CBD oil, it’s getting easier and easier to purchase the oils.
What a lot of people don’t know, however, is that there are two main types of CBD oil. These are full spectrum CBD oil and isolate CBD oil. There are a lot of differences between these two types, and they often play a huge part in determining what kind of oil people choose to purchase. But just what are these differences? Don’t worry, we’re here to let you know about them all and to give you some much needed information about CBD oil.
The first main difference between the two types is the way they are extracted. Isolate CBD oil is extracted from the cannabis plant all by itself, so there are no other chemicals or properties taken with it. When it’s turned into an oil product and put on the shelves, it’s all on its own. There are no other compounds mixed in with it; it’s isolated. Full spectrum CBD, on the other hand, is extracted differently. As stated by Aaran Cadena, “the CBD contains all other cannabinoids found in the marijuana plant including CBN (Cannabinol), CBG (Cannabigerol), and THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin), to name a few. And yes, along with these cannabinoids, Full Spectrum CBD also contains trace amounts of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), but in very low concentrations (up to .3%), resulting in very minimal psychoactive stimulation.” So, full spectrum CBD contains a higher number of compounds from the cannabis plant itself and offers more of a psychological response, albeit one so small it goes unnoticed.
The dosage sizes required for both versions of CBD provide another difference. It has been shown that a very specific amount of isolate CBD has to be administered for it to work, and anything below or above this amount can result in no difference occurring in physical or mental health. It’ll be as though you never used the oil. Full spectrum CBD, on the other hand, has been shown to increase in effectiveness as the dosage size increases. Obviously, you need to be careful not to use too much of the oil, but this ability to increase effectiveness has made full spectrum CBD generally more popular in society.
The overall effectiveness of full spectrum CBD also tends to be better, but it all depends on your situation when it comes down to choosing which of the versions to use. You may simply not want to use the full spectrum edition of the oils, or you may not be legally allowed to use the THC which is found in the full spectrum version, even though it is a miniscule percentage. Make sure you figure out which of the two different types are best suited to your needs.
