There’s always room for innovation in social media marketing and networking. It’s constantly evolving and expanding. And that’s a good sign in anybody’s book. It means there’s always room for you to test out strategies on how you can market your brand, brand image, and products and/or services.
There are tons of information about what you can do to get more Instagram followers (we also have a few of our own). But what about the “don’ts” when it comes to managing your following? Take a look at them below.
1. DON’T Focus On Follower Numbers
This might sound like an oxymoron— we want to help you increase your IG followers but don’t want you to focus on numbers per se. That’s because influencers who did the opposite ended up becoming less authentic and less engaged with their followers (and yes, this statement is in the past tense).
We cannot stress this enough— bots are no good. They have never been an asset for Instagram users. They only give you the numbers but do nothing for lasting engagement and conversion. So those who go with bots for sheer numbers? They meet a sticky end, folks.
What use are a million followers if most of them aren’t real people? This is detrimental if you own a business account on IG. Worse, if Instagram bans your account because of bot-utilisation.
Instead, pair up with an Instagram growth strategy team and have them aid you with improving your marketing methods. Some of them even have AI-powered tools to assist you in other frontend and backend tasks for your account.
Let your growth team focus on that so you can fix your eyes on your content, and not just numbers.
2. DON’T Be Afraid To Start Small And Re-Evaluate
After all, that’s how everything, whether in social media or in all of life, begins. Don’t panic if, after some time, you still aren’t seeing exponential growth in your following. That happens. Not everybody hits the jackpot and suddenly rises to fame via social media.
However, having said that, re-evaluate your strategy. How are your interactions with your followers? How responsive have you been to them? How’s your content so far? Are they constantly updated with what’s going on with your online enterprise?
Aside from coming up with Instagram growth strategies, it’s just as crucial that you re-evaluate your brand and your business. Check that they’re clear and simple enough to have their own “personality” against the competition.
Start small. But as long as you keep strengthening those connections with your followers and keep putting out up-to-date content, you’ll be surprised at the changes these tiny steps can make.
3. DON’T Post Every Minute
This sounds like an exaggeration. But trust us when we say that many users try to achieve a posting frequency as close to this as they can.
It’s true that on social media platforms such as Instagram, visibility is intertwined with how active you are on said social media channel. Alternately, it will be wisest not to constantly bombard your followers’ news feed every passing minute, half-hour, hour… you get the drift.
Though staying relevant means getting your content out there every now and then, keeping them at the minimum will allow you to step back from being one of those users who post a photo or a video all the time, to the point of annoyance.
Again, simplify, keep your content meaty, and watch out for your posting frequency.
