Approximately 210,000 gallons of oil leaked Nov. 16 from an in-ground part of the Keystone Pipeline owned by TransCanada near Amherst, South Dakota. The largest oil spill to date in South Dakota, and another spill from the Keystone pipeline, the spill may give pause to the Nebraska regulators who decide on the Keystone XL in a few days. The spill site is near the Lake Traverse Reservation of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate. who are hoping it will not contaminate ground water.
