Indian national army monument

The commemorative monuments are said to be the best places that one should visit, from the historical point of view. From the name of the place itself, you get an idea as to what this place is going to signify. The place was used a lot at the time of World War II. It was used as a bomb-proof bunker for the British Headquarters. It is said that this was the place where the historical decision of handing over Singapore to Japan in the year 1942 was taken by General Percival. As we mentioned earlier also, this is not just about the history of Singapore, but something about the world interest.

This has now become a museum with all the important things related to the war in it. There are 26 underground rooms in this museum and all consists of things related to various stages of wars. Be it weapons or any other important thing, you will find it all here. Not just the things that were used in wars, but it also constitutes wax statues and moving figures that are enough to give you all the idea related to wars.

Civilian War Memorial

Out of all the places that we mentioned in this list, the Civilian War Memorial is most popular one and the reason for which we have put it at the last of this list is that almost all of us know about it. Visiting this place just for once is not enough for admiring the beauty that this place has. In the year 1967 on 15th February, this place was inaugurated by then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. This day is also marked as the day when Singapore falls in the Japanese hands. There are four pillars in this memorial, all 65 meters high. These four pillars describe the four races living in Singapore, namely, Indian, Chinese, Malay and Eurasian. If you talk about the location of this place, then it is standing upon the tombs of some of the many civilians, who were killed during the Japanese Singapore war.
