Mimicry of the Mini Munchkin
Children, when finding their identity, tend to imitate those they love and who are close to them — parents, siblings, etc. This is perfectly normal as they are figuring out what works and doesn't work for them, it's also pretty darn cute to watch.
Trouble is, somewhere along the achingly painful journey of growing up and trying to be cool, some carry on this copy cat behavior and some rebel and go the opposite of ‘popular' or ‘the norm'.
- Remember those clicky groups at school?
- Remember the emo kids?
- The goths?
- The nerds?
- The outcasts?
I think they were all pretty cool in their own way — all these different souls made up a flavorsome childhood for me.
Try recall your classmates and all the different personas they came with — pretty versatile, wouldn't you say?
I remember some of my peeps — they all had their own individual ways and graces that made them unique and cool to me. Even in our vast differences, we all gelled. And thank God for that — who wants xeroxed friends?
All Grown Up and Nowhere to Go!
I can't imagine what it must be like, in our age of hi-tech, to grow up with social media constantly in your face — it must be awesome and terrifying all at the same time for today's youth. It's breeding a sense of fake reality where everyone must look the part and project the part even if you're falling apart.
Even those of us who are adulting are feeling the sting, I'm sure. And here comes my point…
When trying to make it out in the big, bright world the most essential thing — that key ingredient — is to be yourself in a sea of fake.
What Does That Even Mean?
To be yourself, in my life experience, is to be the person you are behind closed doors in front of doors.
You are who you are and if you're if you're being one thing in private and another in public, you are playing a part. You can't be wholly in your authenticity.
Some people do this because they are scared of what people may think of them if they reveal all. To those people I say: read this article – 8 Tips on How to Stop Caring What Other People Think of You. I feel it's a great pity to deny the world at large your unique essence — that quality that makes you YOU. Balls to what people think.
How to Figure Out Your Cosmic Blueprint Plan of Action
A few things to bear in mind is that (and this could be on a social or a business level):
- The right people for you will be attracted to your vibration, so there's no need to worry about what they think as they're probably going to love you — that's why they've shown up. Most people soon smell a fake, a great pretender or someone who is not in their true essence. People who are in their integrity want originals not identity forgers. In business, you only need to sell yourself (your personality and what you stand for) to be successful. If people are sold by you they'll want what you offer. Never try to sell anything, per se, just be yourself and the right clientele will be on your doorstep just waiting to ingest what you are offering. This is because they are attracted to your energy not how well you marketed your product. That's why so many people get frustrated with trying to market themselves with little to no success — they are ‘copying' someone else's blueprint to success and not trusting in their own innate sense of self, ingenuity and worth. You never have to worry about people who aren't your tribe (or clientele/audience), as the people who need you will naturally gravitate to you.
- Do what excites you and you'll win every time. This is just a life strategy really. When you follow your passion (which could be your career, your hobby, your next meal, your daily nap, playing with the dog, doing your nails, trimming your beard, going for a walk, etc) you are in the Universal flow. Your vibration will be high and you'll attract more fun and smiles. You'll also attract more souls to sojourn with who also play in the field of pure potential. It's exciting stuff, people!
- Be a power of unstoppable energy, and, more importantly, always choose your perspective (avoid judgment or belief as they keep you boxed). So this means that even when you're skipping down the road in your higher vibration and you step in a pile of poo — you can choose what perspective you take on this circumstance. You can get angry, you can laugh, you can scrape it off with a fortuitous twig and carry on skipping or you can do all three. It's all about your choice of perspective. When you become the observer, you can step out of this 3D reality matrix and align to the path of least resistance and most joy. Ace this attitude and you will transform your personality too as you become more aligned with the Universe (because you ARE the Universe, don't you know?).
- Let love, compassion, magic and the realm of infinite possibility be your magnetic north. All of these are super hallmarks to great charisma. We humans are complicated little beans who've lost their magic (instead of growing into massive vines that lead to giant treasure, these beans have become baked, tinned and smothered in ketchup). Most over-complicate their lives and personal worth with issues, issues and more issues. It's really quite simple: you are worthy. No-one, IMHO, is born unworthy. Shake off those shackles and start enjoying your life. Give up control and there'll be no anxiety or high expectations. Do this and you will open yourself up to running with synchronicity (Read this: Why Synchronicity Can Change Your Life), following your bliss and being more authentically you.
- Don't be afraid to share your experiences. When you share your learning experiences, even if you haven't ‘mastered' them, you may be helping someone out who is figuring out their personal truth. We are social beings who thrive by bouncing off each other with deep, meaningful interaction. When you withhold your truth — for fear of being judged, fear of not bien liked, fear of being wrong, etc. — you block vital energy and flow. You trap it in your body and it compounds into uneasiness or dis-ease. There's always someone who needs to hear your side of things, someone who may resonate with your story — so when you feel impulsed to share, go ahead and share!
I believe we are all born with an innate personality as unique as your fingerprints. Your job is to crack the shell and unleash your quirkiness so we can all benefit from your originality and watch you thrive in your own fresh, innovative, daring juices.
