Believe it or not, private flying has seen an immense increase over the last year. With travel restrictions and social distancing from the COVID-19 pandemic, more and more people opted to fly privately to avoid large crowds of people.
It may also surprise you that the cost of private flying is actually more affordable than ever too. So, if you’ve been considering booking a private jet, here is your sign to do it!
First-time private flyers may not know what to expect except for what they’ve seen in movies. By the end of this article, you’ll know the realities of flying on a private jet.
The Booking Process
With commercial airlines, there are plenty of websites where you can book your own tickets right online or even through an app on your phone. While you can still book a private jet on your own, most people choose to go with charter brokers. They will collect your information, where you want to go, and find you the best flight.
Some brokers double as travel agents and will even arrange private chauffeurs, such as Access Global, to bring you to and from the airport.
There Are Still Baggage Limits
While the rules aren’t as strict as they are with commercial airlines, private jets do still have baggage limits they must enforce. Many private jets are exceptionally small, so there is only a certain amount of weight allowed on board in the form of baggage.
Again, these limits aren’t as strict so you can still bring more than you would if you were flying a commercial flight. However, be sure not to overpack if you’re flying with a group of people as this can cause problems.
You Must Request Extra Services
When you fly on a commercial flight, you can expect flight attendants on board to serve you refreshments, snacks, and even meals on long international flights. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case when you fly on a private jet. Instead, you’ll have to request (and pay for) these services in addition to booking the flight.
However, this does give you the freedom to choose what you would like on the plane during your flight. You can request certain foods, cocktails, wines, and beverages. This is fully customizable to the type of experience you would like while flying privately.
Don’t Go Quote Crazy
If it’s your first time flying on a private jet, you’re probably curious about the cost. So, you may be tempted to fill out a ton of quote forms from different charter brokers and private flying companies. Avoid doing this! If you send too many quote requests, these companies may see you as an unqualified lead who is likely to waste their time. Therefore, they won’t even contact you to schedule the flight.
To be safe, ask for three or four quotes at most. Start a conversation with a sales representative or booking agent for more information and pricing to get the best service.
