See the world as your proverbial oyster. Your steadfastness is a fantastic quality, but if you are pulverising your hopes in order to satisfy the expectations and needs of others, ultimately you are doing yourself a disservice. It's all about finding a better balance. Higher education, training and testing yourself out in some kind of new environment, can all be to the fore for you.
Gemini 22 May – 21 June
Grappling with life's practicalities may not seem to be terribly sexy or interesting, but you could surprise yourself by just how much enthusiasm and motivation you gain from doing precisely this. You want to know how things work, you want to know how you can make them work better and how you can create better value, and to get fitter and even more in control.
Cancer 22 June – 23 July
There is so much to be gained by working collaboratively with other people. The give-and-take of close alliances can not only provide you with extra support, it can also be gratifying to share your ideas with those who will be open to them and appreciate you. See it very much as a symbiotic process. However, first of all, this may require you to let some of your defences melt away.

With Mercury still in your sister fire sign of Sagittarius, though not its best transit, for you this can see you being quite upbeat and jolly in the early days of this year. And a can-do attitude can take you far. However, this week's influences do call upon you to grapple with life's nitty-gritty. Virgo 24 August – 23 September
Your ruler Mercury remains in a muted location for the first ten days of this New Year, but try not to let this see you be guarded or inward about this week's prospects. Why? Libra 24 September – 23 October
If you're hitting the January sales, items that help you to bring added comfort to your abode can capture your imagination. But then again, if someone is giving you a lovely crafting kit or some other new hobby outlet as a gift, this may happily occupy you in these early days of the year. Feeling snug and serene is certainly going to be appealing. You may also test out a new recipe book.
Scorpio 24 October – 22 November
Because you're a Fixed zodiac sign, you tend to stick at situations for the long-term and then can go through some major changes, which then instigate a new period of focus. This is entirely possible as you start this first week of 2018. Being clear in what you want to achieve, gives you an added opportunity, and some kind of major transition in your outlook and even thinking, is possible.
Sagittarius 23 November – 21 December
The conversations that you enjoyed in the last ten days of last year may still be much in your thoughts. Of course, you can be one of the most convivial members of the zodiac, and some of these chats may have been upbeat and sociable, whilst others much more thoughtful or thought-provoking. Capricorn 22 December – 20 January
Mercury could see you being a little bit self analytical, and even doubting some of the hopes you have for the New Year. Try not to let it. You must remain resolutely positive. There is so much to go for this year Capricorn, but it does require you to take a firm grip on the life tiller of your future direction. Your instincts are set to play a really major role this week Aquarius, and although you can be very logical, and you should not eschew this completely, this is certainly a time to listen to your hunches. This can be particularly true around your career, where a mixture of strident confidence with an unerring nose for where trends are heading, can be so important to your progress.
Pisces 20 February – 20 March
A professional matter outstanding from last year may need your attention in the early days of this January. And even if something seems illusive or frustrating, try to keep the lines of communication open as much as possible.
