Mars begins its impactful transit through the self-initiating sign of Aries, beginning June 1 through July 12, 2024. Mars will also be aspected by Saturn as it moves through the fire sign of Aries. Venus remains in its own sign of Taurus until June 12, 2024, and then shifts to the sign of Gemini. Mercury begins its transit through its favorable sign of Gemini from June 14 to June 29, 2024. Both Venus and Mercury will be affected by traveling quite close to the Sun this month.
On June 1, 2024 Mars begins its transit through its own sign of Aries until July 12, 2024. But first, Mars must travel through the transformative gandanta degrees of 28- 29 Pisces to 0-1 degrees Aries from May 30 through to June 3. When planets move from the last degree of a water sign to the first degree of a fire sign, these degrees and are considered challenging, but they can also generate substantial growth if we can move through them with grace and non-resistance. This is a time when long-held issues or lessons surface in order to be healed, either personally or collectively. As action-oriented Mars is the planet that is gandanta, we are asked to let go of old ways of handling conflict, war, and aggression, and with greater awareness choose new, courageous, and positive ways of settling our differences.
Mars is empowered as it travels through a sign it rules, so while in Aries becomes more assertive, ambitious, and energetic. On a positive note, Mars here can be capable of accomplishing desired outcomes when disciplined and focused. Mars in Aries is a good time to get things done and to being new projects with positive goals in mind. We feel more adventurous, independent and enthusiastic. On the shadow side, Mars in Aries can be rash and impulsive, and not so diplomatic or harmonious. Events that occur with Mars can be sudden, so this is a good time to direct your energies to your spiritual practices, and work with ahimsa (non-violence), patience, and conflict resolution.
However, while Mars is in Aries, it will be aspected by Saturn in Aquarius, and this can bring a push/pull energy, so some struggle or resistance may manifest as we work toward our goals. We are learning to be responsible for our actions. This is an important time to face and heal old challenges and misunderstandings with courage, neutrality, and commitment.
Mercury, planet of communications, the intellect, business, and the media, quickly transits the fixed sign of Taurus from May 31, until June 14, 2024. Then from June 14 to June 28, 2024, Mercury moves into its own sign of Gemini. However, Mercury is combust the Sun (within 4 degrees) from June 10 through June 17, 2024, as it shifts signs from Taurus to Gemini. The exact conjunction will occur at 29 degrees Taurus on June 14. Mercury will be happier in its own sign of Gemini, however during the combust phase watch for a tendency to seek approval or be overly influenced by others. Be mindful of communications as the ego is stronger, represented by the powerful Sun. Remedies for Mercury are meditation and pranayama (breathwork). Use discernment in making decisions and have good boundaries. Sometimes when the combustion of a planet occurs within 1 degree of the Sun, it can temporarily create some brilliance, but in general be mindful.
Venus, planet of relationship, arts, and finance, remains in its own sign of Taurus until June 12, 2024, having been in Taurus since May 18. Venus is happy in its own sign and loves harmony and stability in relationships. We desire authentic and true connections with family and friends. Venus then moves to the air sign of Gemini from June 12 until July 6, 2024. Like Mercury, Venus is traveling close to the Sun, and will be combust the Sun (within 4 degrees), from May 19 to June 20, 2024. Venus and the Sun will exactly conjunct at 20 degrees Taurus on June 4, 2024. When Venus is extra close to the Sun or combust, this is a time to be more vigilant in your relationships and finances. At times you may feel out of balance in relationships or finances can seem erratic. Let go of impossible expectations or feelings of overwhelm. Have good boundaries and increase your self-esteem and self-worth, as power struggles can surface. Choose compassion and diplomacy over fear and doubt.
