April is a very active month and with much planetary movement. Saturn begins its almost 3-year transit through the sign of Pisces, signaling a major focus on spiritual life. On April 2, 2025, Mars re-enters its debilitated sign of Cancer for several months. Two planets go direct this month: Mercury, goes direct on April 7, 2025, and Venus goes direct on April 12, 2025. Two intense planetary connects occur the last half of April with Saturn conjunct Rahu April 16 to 25, and Pluto opposite debilitated Mars on April 26 and 27. Akshaya Tritiya occurs on April 29, 2025, a very auspicious day in the Vedic calendar.
Saturn, planet of focus, responsibility, and discipline, fully begins its transit through the dual water sign of Pisces. This transit recently began on March 29, 2025, and lasts almost three years, ending on February 23, 2028. Saturn transits are very powerful, influential, and require effort. Pisces is a sign of spirituality, great emotional depth, and enlightenment. While Saturn is in Pisces, we are asked to be more disciplined and have a genuine commitment to our spiritual life and practices. Find things that inspire you. As Saturn is a planet of work and service, this is a positive transit to engage in humanitarian work or help those in need. With serious and detached Saturn in the emotional and deeply feeling sign of Pisces, be patient and try not to block your innate vulnerability, and be comfortable expressing your humanness.
Mars, planet of action, courage, and conflict, begins its journey again through its debilitated sign of Cancer from April 2, 2025 until June 6, 2025. Last year, Mars started its transit through Cancer on October 20,2024, went retrograde from December 6, 2024 to January 23, 2025, and eventually moved back to the sign of Gemini. Now Mars is going forward and will re-enter its weakest sign of Cancer on April 2, 2025. When planets are debilitated, they can act differently or contrary to their natural tendencies. While Mars is in Cancer, sometimes we experience less energy, or find it easier to be more frustrated or combative. This is a time to practice patience, neutrality, and humility. With Mars in the family-oriented sign of Cancer, let go of anxiety and be less reactive, especially with family and close friends. Actions started now may not produce the expected results, and then we can become disappointed or blame others.
With Mars in Cancer, tap into your inner courage, and face any challenges with compassion, understanding, and neutrality. Practice ahimsa, or non-violence, that generates respect for all living things. In addition, from April 10 to April 13, 2025, Rahu in Pisces will trine Mars in Cancer at 3 degrees. Rahu will amplify Mars energies, so these challenging energies can become overly amplified.
Mercury, planet of communications and the intellect, goes direct on April 7, 2025 at 2 degrees Pisces, having been retrograde since March 15, 2025. As Mercury begins to slowly move in forward, we experience greater mental clarity and awareness. However, Mercury will still be transiting Pisces, its sign of debility until May 6, 2025. And a few days after Mercury goes direct it will exactly conjunct Rahu at 3 degrees Pisces from April 10 through April 12. This is a time to be especially careful with communications, business transactions, and travel.
Venus, planet of relationship and finance, goes direct on April 12, 2025 at 0 degrees Pisces, having been retrograde since March 1, 2025. During the retrograde phase of Venus, it is a time of reviewing our love relationships, our true values, and our financial status. Now as Venus is going direct in its exalted sign of Pisces, we commit to developing deeper, honest, and balanced connections with others. Our value system has gone under revision during the Venus retrograde period, and we now commit to those people that we feel truly compatible with. The same goes for our financial plans and spending habits. We want to invest in those things that have real value and are authentic and meaningful.
A major planetary conjunction occurs when Saturn and Rahu, the north node, connect at 2 degrees Pisces from April 16 to April 25, 2025. Saturn and Rahu can cause depressive or restrictive energy, and insensitivity with others. This combination can increase our willpower and help one see the value of patience. Let focused Saturn bring greater clarity and discipline to Rahu, along with a reality check.
On April 26 to 27, 2025, Pluto in Capricorn will oppose debilitated Mars at 9 degrees Cancer. We experienced this opposition twice previously at the start of November 2024 and January 2025. Pluto is considered the higher octave of Mars, so both are powerful planets opposing each other. The Mars/Pluto combination can be quite competitive, forceful, and sometimes destructive. But Pluto is also a planet of transformation and rebirth, so there is a need to bring light to our fears in order for deep change to occur. This is a time to be mindful and go within.
Akshaya Tritiya, a very auspicious day in the Vedic calendar, occurs on April 29, 2025 this year. This special day occurs on the third lunar day of the waxing Moon either in April or May, when the Sun and Moon are both exalted, generating very favorable solar and lunar energies. According to an ancient legend, this is the day when the sacred Ganges River descended to earth from heaven. This is considered a very auspicious day for starting new activities that you wish to grow, prosper, and endure.
