There are only two things that make you instinctively check your phone whenever it does a little jig on your table, in your pocket or in your hand. Those two things are either a text message or a phone call. Now, imagine getting a call, but to your surprise, the person contacting you has no identity. It might appear as “Private Caller” or “No Caller ID.”
This is what that means, it’s a private number, and unless you answer the call, you won’t know what they want or the purpose of the call, right? Once you’ve answered and you want to or have to call back, how do you do that without even getting a glimpse of the number that called you? Well, we’re here to give you a few solutions to return that private number call.
Return The Call For Free, Dial *69 or #69
It isn’t illegal for people to keep their information hidden or confidential. Still, it’s within your rights to find out who called you in the first place and get their number uncovered. Starting with the first solution to uncover the private number is by the Last Call Return, the universal Vertical Service Code used by the North American Numbering Plan Administration.
On your landline, just dial *69 to immediately call back the most recent number that called you. For mobile phones, on the other hand, you just dial #69 to automatically call back the most recent private number. There may be time limitations when using your mobile phone, depending on the carrier service you use – maybe within 30 minutes of the last call.
Using A Third-Party App That Reveals Any Private Number
If you’re not a fan of those constant calls from the private number – especially when you have a busy schedule, or you’re currently concentrating on something else. Then getting a third-party app that reveals any number might not be out of the question. At least you can find out who keeps bombarding you with phone calls at ungodly hours.
We have a suggestion for you to download, called TrapCall. This mobile application unmasks private IDs and unknown callers. The app gives you the phone number and the name of the person who’s registered to the number. This app is useful because it gives you the option to block any of the incoming calls that may come from the same unknown number/ID.
Check Your Service Provider Logs
If you’ve got the patience to reveal that unknown number, then this method is probably the best for you – though it may not be 100% successful. You can check the logs that your carrier service keeps incoming and outgoing calls from your number. You can use this method as there are some cases where the private number is revealed in the logs.
Just make sure to record the time and date of when the private number has called, so you can compare it later with the logs. It’s a small thing like time and date to either record down or to remember that can reveal the said unknown caller/private ID.
Takeaway
These are just simpler ways to trace the person behind the endless calls from a private or unknown number. I know it somewhat feels ominous when you receive a call from an unknown number, and what we told you are just some methods to alleviate that anxiety. Don’t worry, though, the person behind the number might just be from your carrier service.
