Working at home and working out at home is becoming the in thing as more and more people appreciate the use of technology to improve their lives. The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed people further to stay indoors, hence the need to adapt emergent technologies to make homes more liveable and fun. In line with this, people are now buying exercise machines that they can use at home to keep fit. The machines have reduced the need to go to the gym or outdoors for that matter. One of the most common exercise equipment that most fitness enthusiasts are buying is a rower. There are a lot of others getting stationary bikes. While they both have their benefits InfomotionSports compared them to determine which among them has more. You may not have money to buy both. With this knowledge, you can decide which of the two to buy.
Peloton has been working on three pieces of fitness machines. Two of those are a stationary bicycle and a treadmill. It has not been clear what the third piece of equipment is, but speculations ripe on social media and in other fitness blogs claim that the company is planning on releasing a rower. The date which the company plans on doing so is still unclear. There are reports though, arising from some inside sources indicating that the company is likely to release the rower in the early months of 2021.
In 2019, Peloton acquired Tonic Fitness Technology that has been among its main manufacturing partners. In the same year, Tonic Fitness Technology received a patent that enabled the company to design and manufacture a particular type of rowing machine. Considering that Peloton is partnering with Tonic Fitness, it follows then that by extension, Peloton owns that patent. That means then that the production of a rower machine is inevitable.
Peloton Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jill Woodworth has on several occasions announced that the company has new products in their plans, but would not yet announce or release them until the delivery pipeline goes back to normal. The onset of the 2019 COVID-19 pandemic and its disruption of business in 2020 negatively affected most of Peloton’s plans. He further said that once business is back to normal, and all the showrooms opened for business where customers can see and test their products hands-on, they will consider releasing the new products.
In another indication that Peloton is planning to release a Rower, the CFO Woodworth, when asked about the same in an interview with “Investing in Tech”, did not deny the machine. Instead, the CFO noted that such a development would be interesting, though she considers the market and opportunities for rowers much smaller than that of bikes and treadmills.
Some employees at peloton have also accidentally leaked company information in their local stores claiming that Peloton could be manufacturing a rower machine. All these though are just speculations as no one has clear evidence of the company’s plans regarding this machine.
Despite all these, it is important to note that rower machines have added benefits as compared to bikes and treadmills. First, a rower machine gives you a full-body work-out with decreased impact. Unlike treadmills or bikes that mainly focus on lower body strength, rowers enable you to work on your upper, midsection, and lower body. This provision enables you to build strength in your arms, torso, and legs. You will build and strengthen more muscles with a rower than you will with most stationary machines in the gym.
In addition to building entire body strength, rowers are good for boosting your heart's health, making it stronger; it helps strengthen the lungs and helps burn body fat significantly. Treadmills and bikes tend to put a lot of strain on your ankles and hips. The two machines, though good for exercise, are more suited for younger people. Older people prone to injury would want to consider staying away from the two or doing moderate exercises like walking or cycling moderately to minimize the risk of injury to the said joints. As for a rower, it poses no risks since there is no impact using the machine as compared to running on a treadmill.
With these benefits in mind, you would surely be waiting for Peloton to announce the release of their rower. Their existing cardio machines are of high quality and up to par with the current technology, so it is expected that their rower will also be a good machine. For now, customers will have to wait patiently for the announcement.
