If looking back at last year makes you feel a little uneasy, you’re probably not the only one! Most of us have at least one thing we regret and a good few things we intended to get to but failed to do so. Nevertheless, don’t let that get you down.
Here are some ideas on how to feel good about yourself in 2020.
Eat More Healthfully
While you may have spotted a few unwelcome pounds added to your frame over the last few months, don’t despair. It’s possible to reverse this upsetting trend by changing your eating habits today. Yes, today…
We say today because if you plan to do it next week, it just won’t happen. The next thing you’ll know, it’s July and you’re feeling regretful. Don’t let that be you. Grab the year by the horns and make immediate changes.
Plan around healthy meal choices. Calorie balanced meals and snacks that won’t weigh heavily on your total calorie count serves you well. Also, look at what you drink during the day because any sodas or fruit juices that are loaded with sugar make a difference.
Help a Friend in Need
Feeling good about yourself isn’t always about you.
Do you have a friend that you know is in need of help? If someone you care about is having a particularly difficult time at the moment, think about providing some assistance. You can send money online in minutes, which they can either collect or receive to their checking account.
While they may be too proud to accept money being handed to them in person – they’re likely to refuse it – when it’s sent online, it feels different. It’s harder to turn down the help. This is to your advantage if you know their first instinct is to pull back.
Failed with Exercise? Try Something New
If you didn’t follow through completely with last year’s exercise plans, then don’t let that sit. It’ll fester if you do! Instead, think about what held you back.
Failing with exercise can be caused by one or more reasons. These include:
- Setting unrealistic workout goals
- Starting too aggressively with the next-day muscle pain being too hard to bear
- Expecting rapid weight loss and being disappointed
- Not enjoying the physical exercise
- Getting bored while working out
Once you accept that weight loss comes slowly and over the months, then you allow yourself the patience to see results when they come.
Meanwhile, what was it about your previous exercising that you disliked? If you found it boring or you didn’t enjoy it, then that can be addressed. Find some activities that you do like.
For instance, if you enjoy playing tennis, then this can be part of your exercise for the week. Similarly, swimming might be preferable over jogging on the treadmill in an uninspiring gym. Find what works for you to stay motivated to continue and keep returning for more exercise.
Having a better year is very much about doing more of what works for you. This doesn’t always mean following the latest fad or trend!
