Conscious Cryptography: How to Decode Your Dreams (Video: NOVA)

Whether you pay attention to your dreams and the symbolism within them or not, one thing we can all agree on is that they can be SUPER strange! My latest dream had me bearing my bottom to a crowd of strangers for crying out loud! And while the general meaning for dreaming of “nudity in public” is a fear of vulnerability (which I can totally relate to at the moment within a certain area of my life); I also know how my brain works (which is being as literal as possible). So, what I also got from this dream is that I really need to pay more attention to the MOON cycles so I can better organize my plans & manage my time as I’ve been struggling a bit lately with that! So funny, right? 🙂

I’ve been fascinated with dreams for as long as I can remember. And I began keeping a dream journal some years ago as well as actively learning what the general symbolic meanings behind many dreams are. This has helped me tremendously to navigate through whatever emotional issue I may have been facing at the time or just to provide some insight into something that may have been weighing heavy on my heart or simply causing some confusion. Deciphering my dreams has become a skill that I proactively refine as it seems as I age my dreams only get more strange and complex.

I realize that some people might disregard dreams as simple “malarkey of the unconscious mind” that occurs when they body is at rest; however what some might not be aware of is that while the conscious mind sleeps, the subconscious mind is wide awake at play, and science now tells us that it has a significant effect on our dreams. And since our subconscious mind is what drives us most in waking life (at least in a habitual sense), wouldn’t it make sense to give our dreams a second look if they could offer us some reflection into waking life issues?

The video below explains the differences between dreams had in non-REM sleep .vs those had in REM sleep. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the term, “REM” stands for “Rapid Eye Movement” and is the last phase of our nightly sleep cycles where our dreams are at the height of intensity and emotion. During the REM phase our bodies experience a temporary paralysis; so we can act out our dreams in the dream-state, without harming ourselves or others in the physical world. The video also shows us; however that some of us are not so lucky and are born with this part of the brain (responsible for activating the temporary paralysis) inactive and regularly act out their dreams physically, often causing harm to themselves or their spouses.

What I find fascinating is that people who suffer from regular depression bypass the non-REM sleep stage all-together; they go straight into REM sleep. They are exposed nightly to extended period of intense, high emotions. So, one has to wonder if depression causes one to slip right into REM sleep or if there is some kind of chemical imbalance perhaps that causes the mind to go right into REM-sleep and thus depression is simply a by-product? Science is on the fore-front of getting to the bottom of this correlation and the medical world can no longer deny the link. While we have known for years that there is a connection between depression and sleep (or a lack thereof), I believe we are going to see just how deep this connection really is in the very near future.

So, how can we take all the wild imagery, the scary sensation and the hilarious happenings that occur in dreams and make enough sense of them so that we can apply actual meaning to our own waking lives? The first place I recommend is a Dream Dictionary. These will have general definition for the most common dream symbols and their meaning and when you write down all of the main symbols of a particular dream and really think of the message behind them all as they pertain to you personally, you just might be amazed how accurately your own mind is feeding back subconscious answers to questions you didn’t even know you had!

My personal favorite dream books and dictionaries are as follows (and are listed with recommendations for “dream decipher newbies” first, working my way down to more complex, deeper digging reads.)

  1. I Had the Strangest Dream…The Dreamer’s Dictionary for the 21st Century by Kelly Sullivan Walden
  2. The Dreamer’s Dictionary – From A to Z…3,000 Magical Mirrors to Reveal the Meaning of Your Dreams by Stearn Robinson & Tom Corbett
  3. Dream Dictionary – An A to Z Guide to Understanding Your Mind by Tony Crisp
  4. The Twenty-four Hour Mind: The Role of Sleep and Dreaming in Our Emotional Lives by Rosalind D. Cartwright
  5. The Art of Dreaming by Carlos Castaneda
  6. Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self by Robert Waggoner
  7. Dreaming the Soul Back Home: Shamanic Dreaming for Healing and Becoming Whole by Robert Moss
  8. Psychodynamic Neurology: Dreams, Consciousness, and Virtual Reality by Allen Hobson

My next recommendation is to start journaling your dreams. Keep a notebook and pen by your bedside so you have them handy upon waking and can write down your dreams right away. We all know how quickly we can forget dreams the longer we are awake, so it’s best to write them down as soon as possible to recall as many details as you can.

Lastly, once you have a basic understanding of dream psychology (for example, dreaming of being in a house is considered to be a universal archetype with each room representative of different aspects of yourself and different issues you are going through), take note of recurring themes in your dreams and see what underlying psychological message they may be trying to portray to you. Often times our subconscious mind fights to tell us which areas of our life need our attention, through our dreams; but of course this is not always easy to recognize through the strange and confusing symbolism. This is why it is helpful to study the mind and dream interpretation (even the basics) and after you do, you will definitely have a better understanding of not only the brain and the funky, fascinating way it works to communicate with us, but also with yourself, your true self…your inner spirit and it’s voice that often goes unheard; that which is trying to emerge and bring forth your greatest potential. Hey, they don’t call them DREAMS for nothing! 😉

Why Change is So Easy to Want From Others & So Hard to Make For Ourselves

Image result for personal changeIf any of you have ever participated in the American tradition of making New Year’s resolutions for positive change, then you might also know that come March, you’re usually over it, right? Wracked with guilt, stammering with stress, and full of shame over another year of failure. But for what, and WHY? Why do we do this to ourselves? Being a self-help nut, and spiritual alchemy enthusiast (to put it mildly) I am obviously a proponent for self-exploration and healing of past traumas, but what I’m not for is doing it society’s way, which is always with the motivation that something is wrong with us, to begin with.

Whether it be to lose that winter weight from being a little too thankful during the holidays, or to finally quit smoking, if it’s something that you’ve set out to do in steps or stages, and especially if you’ve struggled with this issue before, I know for me personally, come St. Patrick’s Day, I am out of self-loathing mode enough to let go of the guilt and promise myself that I will try again next year. But after repeating this nonsense for nearly a regarding smoking cigarettes and never succeeding, I realized the reason I was failing is that I wasn’t doing for me. I was doing with the expectation if I quit, those in my life would love and respect me more and perhaps some would stop judging me for other poor decisions I had made.

“We Cannot Become What We Want By Remaining What We Are.” – Max Depree

I was jumbling up all of my poor choices and things I was currently working on and learning in my life into one bad habit. Telling myself if I quit smoking, then my past deeds would be forgiven, I’d get the respect I’d been missing and finally feel loved in the way I had hoped for. But because I didn’t love and respect myself enough to make quitting smoking a priority, and just set the goal for myself, by myself under my conditions during a time of the year of my choice, I just made excuses and took advantage of New Year’s as the time as when it’s merely expected for people to change something, but not really change anything. It was a perfect little sub-conscious ego party plan to keep on smoking. And it worked beautifully for years.

So what it is that is so hard about making positive changes in our lives? We often see how quickly people can pick up habits that cause problems in their lives, often not on purpose of course, but in reaction to dealing with something terribly painful, our incredibly stressful or both. Often times people are unable to handle intense emotions and feelings, especially if they’ve never allowed themselves to feel them before, or if they’ve been raised to believe that it’s a bad thing to express your emotions, they might have an extra hard time with this and with good reason. Related image

If anything it’s a good reminder that we don’t always know what other people are going through, and since we’ve known the sh*t we’ve been through in our own lives and how painful it was, we are best to be kind and compassionate to others with the understanding that they just might be going through something like that as well. It’s also a good reminder that just because you might have reached a level of self-awareness that you know how to apply the information received during self-reflection, others may not be there on the same level with you. So, again it is best not to judge and to remember that everyone is walking their own path and it’s never our job to tell them which way to go.

We can, of course, offer advice to slow down, speed up, veer left or right if we’ve seen similar terrain and have mastered a great way to traverse the course, but we cannot expect other people to listen, to take our advice, nor can we allow their choices to affect our own because ultimately, we are all learning as we go and we all need to remember that the only life we are ever truly responsible for is our own. Even our children we must eventually set free out in the world as their lives are only ours to guide, never to own. And if anything, they are greater teachers to us, not the other way around are they not?

Related imageSo, next time you find yourself expecting another person to change, just think back to how difficult it is to change something about yourself. This quickly puts into perspective the chance that you have of changing someone else. Because as you also know, in order to change, you have to first want to more than anything else that has priority in your life and you have to have the guts to even begin trying. Because believe it or not, starting, (and starting again, and again…) is the most difficult part of stopping something!

Authenticity: Avoiding The Trap of Self-Polarization in the New Age Movement

Image result for authenticityI don’t know about you, but some of my greatest lessons have often come from some of the most unexpected people or at some of the most unexpected times and always in the most unexpected ways. And that’s the beauty of wisdom that sticks like honey to your soul. It is always there to provide a sweet taste of the infinite connection you have to the origin of your own inner strength.

But I think that’s the key, to always keep in mind that the gems can’t find their way to you if you limit them via your own expectations. And I’ll be the first to admit that when I really got in this whole “spirituality” stuff, I dove in head first and thought to be spiritual it meant you HAD to meditate, you HAD to be doing yoga, you HAD to be all positive and love & light 24/7. But the more I explored the outer edges of the New Age movement, the closer I actually got to my truth, which is true spirituality is not pretty and has nothing to do with anything more than it does this one thing…AUTHENTICITY.

Letting these things define what I thought I must label myself as was ironical as I had soon discovered, as it was completely opposite to the material I was learning and perhaps the biggest lesson in hypocrisy I have ever learned in my entire life. For it is in the New Age arena that I have met some of the most incredibly honest, authentically raw and real spiritual teachers who know their shit because they’ve been there and survived to tell their story. They are not afraid to make mistakes, to expose those parts of their lives that might not be so “guru-like”, and they are the same person to their clients as they are to their families. They are real! They are authentic…

And then there’s those that I’ve come across that seem to think simply because they have mastered the lotus position or haven’t eaten red meat in 25 years that they are above other people. There is nothing wrong with being an expert in your field and teaching others what you know, but once you allow yourself to be placed on the proverbial pedestal where you condone and justify the judging of others, your lessons have now become personal religious laws so to speak. And by this I mean, once you let a sense of superiority motivate you, your message isn’t to empower others to allow them more self-control, but it sadly has morphed into an often subtle form of manipulation to keep people needing your specific message for strength, rather than learning to build and rely on their own.

I’ve seen and heard it way too many times people get shunned or judged for just being human and having real-life human experiences that we ALL go through in one form or another. And last time that I checked, the entire point of this so-called movement was to embrace what is often rejected by the social norm, to accept people as they are, where they are and to come from the heart, so that we may face the dark with courage.

Refusing to feel negative emotions or making yourself feel bad for thinking negative thoughts is not going to help anyone. Yet, in the spiritual community, we are often lead to believe we need to always be “love and light” all the time or else we must not be spiritual or enlightened after all. But it doesn’t work that way. Enlightenment isn’t just a point you hit and stop; it is an ever-unfolding realization of truth. It’s just the first moment of awakening that feels eternal, and well I guess in true timelessness, it is.Image result for authenticity

Think of it this way…would you rather get on a boat with someone who is dressed all ragged, might appear unfriendly, but whom you know has seen hellish waters and storms and had to think fast and learn quickly how to survive and manage in those situations and now has that experience and inner strength. Or would you rather get in a boat with someone who has a nice new white sailing sweater and flashy grin, not a wrinkle in sight, not a callous on his hands, but he sure looks nice! 🙂

Yeah, I’ll take Capt. Jack Sparrow any day too! And that’s my point with teachers in the New Age movement as well. We need to remember that it’s not about how many crystals you have, or how many times a week you do yoga. It’s not about comparing yourself to others to make sure you’re kale smoothies are up to par on Instagram. It’s about remembering that feeling in your gut, that feeling you get when you are experiencing joy. FOLLOW THAT FEELING. It will lead you to your bliss, to your purpose and to who you were always meant to be.

And when we figure out who we are, we can finally start BE-ing who we are. We can end the need for self-polarization, thinking we must stay at one end of the emotional spectrum and never be sad or angry or upset, and finally let it be okay to be real, to be an authentic human. We can get away from the stigma that only positive emotions are okay and realize that nothing heals unless you look at it. And the more we look with our hearts, the more we see with our souls. And you can’t get more authentic than that!

Real-Eyes: A New Way to See Your Vision

I’ve come to notice that the more I talk about the things I want to do in life, the less I actually do them. You think that would have the opposite effect and due to the fact I am continually giving the idea of my dreams attention and energy that I’d be pulling them into my reality, but that’s the thing, when we spend some much time on constructing what believe our dreams and visions just HAVE to look like in the end, we kind of miss the mark; but I digress…

You see (no pun intended) when we invest our time merely constructing the “how” rather than doing the work that will get us there, before you know it another year has gone by and the only thing that has changed is that we’ve merely gotten better at explaining what our hopes and dreams are.

If you’re anything like me, you have a ton of cool shit you wanna do with your life and your motivation is part selfish and part wanna save humanity. I personally see a future with many published books, a ton of awesome coaching clients, and a message that inspires others to let their own amazing visions come to light. And I plan on doing this by no longer talking about it and finally telling myself to literally shut the “eff” up.

I have this thing with procrastination as in it is always the first thing that gets done on my To-Do list. I have a million great ideas, a brain that will not stop full of poetry, music, art, and waterfalls of creativity that pour out of me so quickly I have sadly learned to tune much of it out. But I realize that that is doing myself and the world a disservice and honestly is completely hypocritical and goes against everything I will be teaching my very own clients about letting your gifts take care of you!

Enough fear already, right? Can you feel that? It’s like we all carry this unspoken veil of heavy obligation, fear, and regret of things we don’t know why we feel, but all we know is we’re scared of failing and to get down to it…not being good enough to be loved or have our loved accepted. And fear can stop us dead in our tracks and also manipulate our senses. Suddenly our vision may look like a nightmare, or it might simply fade away because we’ve been told for so long it’s unattainable or “weird”.

So…my advice is (and I speak to myself here too) to think back to that voice inside you when you were a kid. The one that knows innately to go to your imagination to manifest what you want into reality. The one that KNOWS things are possible for yourself. Re-connect with that voice because that voice is your vision. That voice will tune you back into your real eyes of innocence that allow authentic expression to finally exist in a space of pure creativity.

And the more time we spend looking inward, the more we realize that the energy we put into simply talking about our vision must have drive behind, not just hope. Otherwise, it just floats. So, back to the imagination, which literally breaks down to “an image being born” is the surest and purest route to manifesting your vision. So, get clear on what you want, and hold that image strong in your mind AND your heart.

The more we IMAGINE our vision, the more we THINK about it, the more likely we are to ACT on it. Talking about it just leads to more talking about, at least in my experience. It can definitely help to get research around vision, to network, and to get mentoring and coaching in your field, etc. but if you find you are always talking about what you want to do, realize that your energy is actually keeping those things always in the future. They cannot get to you if you speak of them as things you WANT to do rather than things you are already doing; whether you are or not!

That’s the trick with manifestations; it’s the ENERGY!!! It’s all in the feels, baby, and when it comes your vision and fulfilling your dreams…if you feel it, they will come…true.

9 Rules For Living From an Ayahuasca Shaman

Dylan Charles, Editor | Waking Times

“All the authentic drinkers of yagé in the Amazon that I have met share a great love for nature and all humanity, and they are outspoken protectors of the rainforest and the good way of all that is right.” ~Jonathon Miller Weisberger, Rainforest Medicine

By itself, ayahuasca as a transformational medicine offers us profound opportunities for spiritual awakening, physical renewal and reconnection to the most important aspects of life and nature. Journeying with the vine of souls is unlike anything else in this world, and while many have shared their personal stories of harrowing nights in ceremony, another chief aspect of this medicine tradition is less often discussed: the valuable lessons to be learned from time spent with traditional plant medicine masters.

Sadly, true Amazonian medicine elders are a dying breed. To be in the presence of a genuine master is a treasured experience, and those of them still with us exemplify the virtues of living a life aligned with nature, devoted to spiritual development, and focused on the well-being of others.

I have been blessed with the good fortune of spending time with and learning directly from Secoya elders, who are the torch-bearers of a unique lineage of spiritual masters in the upper Amazon. Their tradition, that of Gods Multi-Colored People, as they know it, is the longest un-broken and non-syncretic tradition of working with the sacred brew Yagé, or Ayahuasca.

The attitude, demeanor, habits and character of these ‘abuelitos’ symbolize the simple purity and deep peace that may be found with dedication to this spiritual path. Reflecting on my time spent with the Secoya, I’ve realized that many of the best lessons come not when they are teaching, but when they are just being themselves.

Here are 9 simple rules for living, as learned from proper Yagé shaman of the Amazon.

1. Abundant laughter is the hallmark of spiritual achievement. Laugh first and laugh often.

2. All life is beautiful and priceless, and even the most pitiful or comical of creatures is infused with the sacred.

3. Always be productive in the service to others, and even if all you can offer is a smile, your positive contribution is important.

4. Love everyone equally, for we are all equal in spirit and life.

5. Silence is golden. Communicating without speaking is more penetrative than attempting to express the infinite with language.

6. It is in stillness you will find that which you seek. The ability to highly control one’s impulses is the key to spiritual advancement.

7. Gentleness is often more powerful than force.

8. Sincere dedication to spiritual development is the highest calling in life.

9. Follow nature instead of following man, for the lessons in nature are universally true and infinitely pure.

Secoya Elders: Don Delfin Payaguaje, Don Augustin Payaguaje, and Don Rogelio Payaguaje

Final Thoughts

“In the collision between the remoteness and purity of the rainforest realms and the crassness of consumer culture, the difference is so extreme that for the most part there has been no authentic or practical method for this medicine system as traditionally practiced to integrate and adapt to the changing times.’ ~Jonathon Miller Weisberger, Rainforest Medicine

As Ayahuasca continues to push its way ever further into the consciousness of contemporary society, the brew may be available for us to drink, but the presence of traditional elders is fading. The transmission of their priceless cultural knowledge is still happening today, however, and in honoring their presence there is much we can learn about how to live a good and productive life in harmonious balance with nature.

In the following video, ethnobotanist and conservationist Jonathon Miller-Weisberger explains some of the ways in which the Secoya tradition is so unique.

Quantum Observations: Keeping Schrodinger’s Cat Alive (VIDEO)

Most of us might not be able to write out Schrodinger’s equation, but many of us have at least heard of Schrodinger’s Cat. With the familiarity of this unfortunate feline, one must also be aware of the fact that anything truly IS possible; just as Quantum Mechanics shows us by demonstrating this cat can exist in multiple states simultaneously.. i.e. dead or alive.

If you are not familiar with Schrodinger’s Cat, it’s a thought experiment (that was thankfully just that and was never actually carried out), in which a cat is placed inside a box with a piece of radioactive material that may or may not decay and kill the cat within the hour. Now, after the hour passes we want to know the state of the cat. Common sense tells us there’s a 50/50 chance that the cat is either dead or alive, but in Quantum Mechanics, until we open the box and collapse the wave function by observing the cat, the cat exists in BOTH states simultaneously!

And down the rabbit hole we go…

This may sound like some whacky fairytale, but as the following video points out, Schrodinger’s Cat is quite real, and the “superposition state” (simultaneous existence) is what allows the computers we use everyday to exist!

Video Source: TED-Ed

The Schrodinger’s Cat thought experiment is an excellent reminder of how “energy flows where attention goes” and that if things go unlooked at in your life, they may remain in a constant state of flux or always feel unfinished and incomplete.

But just as atoms can exist as a wave and a particle as the same time, know that while you are part of this dualistic realm, you are not ruled by it and can collapse the wave by making a choice and choosing to looking at things in your life. When we observe the areas we most avoid, we clear the weeds and allow room for fresh vegetation to bloom. We create space and expansion for new possibilities and growth.

Perhaps the greatest lesson that fabled feline born in the mind of a brilliant Austrian physicist can teach us is this…to remember that there IS no box to begin with.

How To Embrace The (Unexpected) Changes in Your Life

The Only Constant…

Perhaps you’ve heard the phrase, “the only constant is change”. But if not, it would serve us all well to take a moment to grasp the truth of this simple, yet powerful statement. Change really IS the only thing we can count on time after time, as nothing is permanent.

Sometimes when unexpected change comes up in our lives, it can feel like the rug was pulled out from under us because let’s face it; we all get comfortable in our daily routines. If we go into work one day to be told that our hours have been cut or on the flip-side that we must work long overtime hours, this unexpected change may cause us stress or anxiety.

But the worst thing we can do to ourselves is worry. To worry about the situation is to literally create stories in your mind of the worst possible outcomes and to put all of your focus on THAT! Most of us know by now that everything is energy, right? Well, how do you think the energy is leaning when we worry about the unexpected things that happen to us in our lives? I’d have to say slightly more to the negative side and I’d think most of you would agree.

When creating the lives we want for ourselves, we need to keep envisioning in our hearts and our minds what we DO want, not putting focus on that which we do NOT want. Again, it’s all about the energy and where our attention goes is where things will grow in our lives. Where we put the most attention is where we will see our manifestations literally come to life!

Different Types of Change

There are of course different types of change; that which we can control and that which we cannot. Now, the “no worrying!” suggestion still applies here, but for that which we CAN control in our lives, it helps if we learn how to best manage if not even invoke change in our own lives. This is to say we hold the reigns and direct the way our lives go, and we are okay with taking responsibility when things within our control go “wrong”. This is how we learn and grow and is part of the process we call “life”. If we don’t make mistakes, we are not living our lives fully enough!

For that which we cannot change, it is best to surrender and to trust. To quote the amazing Bruce Lee, “Be water, my friend”. When things outside of our control happen, and we trust that there is more to it, we will gifted with the knowing that it is for our greatest good and that we will come out of it stronger, wiser and with a better vision of where your life is headed and why this particular change happened in the first place.

Embracing Change

And this is how we begin to embrace all change in our lives; both that which we do have control over and that which we do not. Both have their lessons and their opportunities for growth and life experience in their own unique ways.

When we can always keep the bigger picture in mind, that this is all for the expansion of our consciousness; for our soul’s growth, it allows us to keep a lighter attitude about life in general and we don’t tend to view the world from a place of fear as often. Because we are coming from a place of trust, we can resonate with love and feel confident in the choices we are able to make, and feel confident in trusting that all will work itself out as it should for that which we cannot control.

And when we begin to see how we really are creating our own lives, we become even more cosmically intertwined with the creative process of the divine Universe. As we act as co-creators, we literally leave our marks on the fabric of space-time!

I cannot think of anything more freeing and more empowering at the same time. This alone will act to open your heart and when your self-confidence begins to grow and you begin to see what magic you are capable of, there’s no telling what you can do! 🙂

Stick a Cosmic Fork in Me: How the Universe Lets You Know When You’re REALLY Done

Image result for growth in adversityI recently saw a brief, but profound video that shows Dr. Abraham speaking about how to overcome stress and fear. He uses our sea friend the lobster and how they grow to explain how if we quit every time that we felt a bit of pressure, we wouldn’t ever reach our full potential in life. By this he explains that a lobster grows by shedding it’s shell, but it only knows to do this once it feels uncomfortable.

He goes onto say how this also speaks to how in our society as soon as we feel a little uncomfortable, we go to the doctor and are given medications that make us comfortable again; so in essence, we are never really “growing” through adversity because we are not giving ourselves the experience. We are literally numbing ourselves to it; via denial and/or avoidance. (Which can ultimately lead to other stresses or illnesses).

I’ve included the video at the end of the article if you want to watch it. It’s under 2 minutes long and really shares a profound insight, so I do recommend it.

I wanted to write about growth and adversity this week, because I think so many of us give up just before we are about to reach the proverbial finish line; myself included. I am the type of person that wants to get so much done that I sometimes end up getting nothing done at all. I tend to spread myself a little thin and start 10 things at once, giving a little attention to all of them, when I should be starting one thing at a time, and giving my full attention to each and every task as I go along.

As easily as I can see in myself that this revolves around a fear of success, I also so greatly want to overcome this fear so that I can assist others in coming out of their own shells. And the more that I write about it and talk about my own struggles and experiences, the more confident I am becoming in using my own voice. But for years and years, I thought I just couldn’t do it. And ya know what? I was absolutely right…

You see, what we believe is what we will most likely receive. When we have strong emotional ties and strong beliefs about something, those are the keys to manifesting things into your life…or subconsciously keeping them out. And either way, I will almost guarantee that you will feel like the world is against you in you getting what you want out of life because it’s “hard”.

However, the sooner that you learn that trials are there to polish the “coal” version of you into the “diamond” version, you will learn to not despise the tough times and begin to see them for what they are; your greatest teachers. And somehow, with that simple vow of humility, you may even be able to actually look at those times with gratitude and appreciation.

Along the way you will begin to recognize when it’s either time to throw in the proverbial towel because you know you gave something your all and/or it’s really just not for you, and when it’s time to chug on because your goal is literally right around the corner you are just about to see if you can just keep pushing through!

I’ve come to learn that the second you let go of the “But I can’t do it!!” thoughts, you will find the strength you need to do it. The second you set your will free, it will come back. The second you stop chasing something, it chases you and the second you realize that you are the creator of your destiny is the second you stop giving away your smile so easily. It’s all the same empowering energy of stepping up for yourself and grabbing that moment by the balls that you know is the one that pushes you into your greatness. The one that is literally right before you complete your goal, whatever it might be.

The Universe is not out to punish us; it is merely responding to the vibration we put out which is determined by the types of thoughts we are having. If we feel that we are being pushed, this is not always a bad thing and sometimes just takes a simple shift in our perspective. I can recall so many times when I was looking up cussing at the Universe, hating my life, in such an ungrateful, ungraceful place…feeling so sorry for myself, etc.

And when the dust had settled and I was able to look back from a more objective, heart-centered place, I was able to see just how perfectly scripted it all was and how it had to all unfold exactly as it did. I also understood that while the Universe has no personal agenda, it will never let you down and will always provide signs and synchronicities that allow you to instinctively know after you’ve been paying attention for a while that you are on the right path, have hit a major milestone, know something particular is coming (omens), or that you need to just keep going…just a little longer.

That last one is my favorite because my stubborn ass was always fighting and resisting that lesson the hardest and giving up just before I was about to do something FUCKING AWESOME. But the more I am willing to surrender to divine guidance, the more power of choice I feel empowered with over my own life via internal clarity, peace, and self- love. And I’m no longer afraid of embracing and embodying that level of awesomeness and in fact, I kinda tell the Universe every day now to “Bring it on!” And ironically, I feel that’s the trick the Universe plays…trust and it will appear. Ask and you will know. Start and you will finish. You just have to start asking, and trust what shows up for you! Especially when what shows up for you, IS you. 🙂

Here’s a link to that video I referred to earlier…check it out! 🙂

3 Steps to a More Authentic You!

Only we really know ourselves, but sometimes it can seem like we have no idea at all who the hell we are or where we are headed in life. And you know what? This can be kind of frustrating, no? Heck yes, it can. Surprisingly, some of us don’t even want to know who we truly are deep down under those layers of societal conditioning and parental programming. It’s warm and cozy in those comfort zones and many if not all of us have chosen to stay put rather than to venture out (or in, in this case) to the “unknown” of our very own Self.

The first step is living an authentic life, is being conscious that you are presently not. If you are the type of person who has continual chaos in their lives, but always looking outward blaming the world and other people for your problems, rather than taking account for your own thoughts and behavior, then you may not care too much about being “real”. Why? Because you’ve subconsciously learned that it’s safer to change and morph yourself around external situations. In other words, you have learned to live RE-actively, rather than PRO-actively. But, I ask you…which one sounds more powerful?

Exactly…living PRO-actively, that is choosing your thoughts and actions for the “highest good” and using Universal principles to work with life, rather than just sitting back and reacting as life appears to keep “happening” to you. We always have a choice as to which way we can live our lives; both are purely perceptual and equally as powerful when it comes to manifesting your reality.

Think of it as playing your game with your rules as opposed to someone else’s games with someone else’s rules. How does that sound? As a matter of fact, how do NO rules sound? 🙂 When you take the following 3 actions steps, you take the steps to literally create space in your life for greater things to come in, merely because you are finally ALLOWING it! In order for what we want to enter our lives, we must resonate with it or match it’s frequency and in order to do that, some shifting must occur…

Action Step 1: Show Up!

This may seem pretty obvious and some of you might be wondering, “Umm…how can I NOT show up for my own life?” Well, many of us don’t show up in our own lives every single day. Instead we settle for mediocrity. We might convince ourselves we are satisfied with our job if we happen to get a promotion, but if we are hearing a voice deep within calling us for greater things and we’ve been ignoring that voice, then we are NOT showing up fully in our lives. We are not living authentically and not living the truth we were destined for.

So, how do we get there? Even if it takes years, as long as you do one thing each day that gets you closer to you doing what absolutely makes you feel alive, then you are showing up! Avoid the temptation to judge your progress or compare yourself to others. And always make sure to celebrate ALL of your successes, no matter how small or trivial you convince yourself they might be. It’s so important to not expect others to always be the source of support and to make sure we are developing our relationship with ourselves. Self-recognition, encouragement and love are all wonderful ways to do that; as long as you find a way to treat yourself for a job well done and are acknowledging your milestones!

Action Step 2: Speak Your Truth!

Now, this isn’t a free pass to just go around insulting people, etc. but it’s also about finally letting yourself FEEL! If you’re truly angry, then feel the anger, but what we want to do differently here is not sit and fester in it. We don’t want it to guide us down a spiral of depression or resentment leading to stagnation. We want to feel through it, see why it’s there and what it has to teach us in this moment. We are learning to observe our emotions for what they truly are; Energy In Motion. And the more we become observers as we are feeling at the same time, the more we strengthen the muscle of allowing and letting go. We find it will become easier to work with our emotions instead of being a confused slave to them. We will begin to feel more comfortable asking for help and for things we need and want and again the more we do this, the better at it we become. We also become better at allowing others to do the same because it’s reciprocal. The more we are feeding our own souls, we are showing others how to do the same. This is TRUE empowerment!

Action Step 3: Be Humble, Be Grateful, Be Open!

Okay, this may sound like 3 steps in one, but they all go together so nicely I promise you! When we can stay grounded in who we are and stop comparing our own path and journey to another’s, we allow ourselves to grow in grace and patience. I would say personally this is one I struggle with the most as I tend to be my hardest critic. I am always finding that I tend to judge my own journey as always “not good enough” as this is one core belief that has deep, deep roots I am still doing immense healing work around. While I still do my shadow-work, I keep close to my heart how important it is that once the awareness returns to be kind to ourselves, to return to gratitude for my journey and finally to be open to what is yet to come. To know and trust that the Universe is always sending little signs and signals that are designed for your unique spark of consciousness is so helpful as we venture through life.

To me, being authentic means coming as you are with no apologies…and my mentor, Derek Rydall recently put out a quote that absolutely captures my very own authentic heart. I’d love to share it with you all…<3

The spiritual warrior is not a doormat, she is a welcome mat. She has a heart of gold, but a soul of steel. Her motto is: ‘Love your neighbor, but don’t take their sh*t’.”

How Picking Up on Patterns Can Point You to Your Perfect Personality Match

If you haven’t heard of the Meyers-Briggs personality test, I highly recommend that you Google it with the immediate quickness! This simple yet life-changing assessment can absolutely change your life in some seriously simple yet incredibly mind-opening ways.

I took it years ago and found out I am a classic INFJ personality and taking it again a week ago thankfully has shown the same results LOL. Not that I had expected a change or anything, but I gotta be honest with the recent waves of energy lately, it’s enough to make anyone think they are losing their marbles.

INFJ’s are considered to the rarest of the personality types and while that does not surprise one bit as I have always felt like a Martian here, what does surprise me about it is that most of my other Empathic friends are also INFJs. So, is it perhaps that we are not rare anymore? Or is it that we are energetically in tune with one another and just sort of gravitate? Well, I honestly think it’s a huge heap of both and then some.

We tend to be considered the advocates for the underdogs and I couldn’t agree more. And with this, I began to see a pattern in the types of people not only that I was drawn to, but who were also drawn to me. And not just that, but those whom I felt good around and perhaps not so good. Being an Empath, back then I pretty much had no clue the difference between my own energy and that of the other people around me, but with this most recent test I took, I had some sort of intellectually-stimulated chakra burst of realization…that not all “bad” people are to be avoided and not all “good” people have the best advice to offer or the best intentions in mind.

Why may you ask? Because truly knowing someone seriously has shit to do with what they look like, or really even so much what they say to or do for you, so much to do with FEELING. How do you FEEL around them? If you were in a neutral energy just reading a nice book and someone enters the room and you instantly feel nauseous and really have no logical reason to, then there’s an excellent chance you are picking up on their vibes or energy. The literal frequency that this person is putting out is pretty damn shady and you are feeling it.

You can pick up on these patterns on energy shifts the more and more you pay attention to them, and it doesn’t always pertain to bad vibes of course. And this is so helpful when first getting to know people because it gives you a leg up and a read on their energy. At least their initial energy. Kind of like setting a bar so you have a marker to go off of.

While I wasn’t consciously doing this with every person I’ve dated, of course, I applied my recent epiphany to my current relationship and it’s like floodgates of understanding opened up for me. (I had to, of course, ask him to take the Meyers-Briggs test first, too to find out he’s an ENTP) and having this knowledge has allowed me to look at what has worked and has not worked in our relationship, what is still causing tension and what areas we would like to grow in, but in a much more objective manner.

I was able to pick up patterns in my own behaviors that would trigger things in him, that would trigger things in me, that would trigger things in him. And while I believe everything happens for a reason, I also believe we have a huge choice in how everything goes down. 🙂 And my husband and I are super into figuring out the best way to communicate that keeps us connected and understanding one another so our needs are mutually met.

And with insight into these patterns, we both have been lead not only back to ourselves (okay I’m doing a bit more of the leading LOL), but also back to each other. I have learned new ways to see flaws as “aha’s!” and am learning ways to explain to others how to bring their own “aha’s” to the surface, through their flaws, without being, well…bitchy or preachy about it.

Apparently, I tend to come off cold sometimes and this is something I’m learning a lot of INFJs tend to be like, whether they know it or not. It’s not so much an ego thing as it is an “I know I know this and want to help so bad so I want you to know it too, but don’t know how else to get it out without sounding like a complete and utter smartass.” 🙂

Truth is, we care…A LOT. And sometimes the feelings overtake the thoughts. But in the end, it is the perfect dance of expression when you have a peaceful space where you can learn not only to understand how to use your voice but also how to say exactly what you would like to say, exactly how you mean to say it.

And with that, I bid you all an amazing, purposeful weekend full of personality!!!

How to Be at Peace With Who You Are, So You May Become Who You Were Always Meant to Be

What is it with us human that we are simply never satisfied with what we have? We tend to take things for granted so easily until something terrible happens that literally snaps our awareness back into alignment with gratitude for all the awesomeness that’s always been there; impervious to our blind eyes.

We could possibly blame it on our subconscious minds in that they are designed in such a way to keep us safe and sound and to help us best navigate this often confusing and harsh world around us. The subconscious allows us to remember details and recall information about people, place and things so we can more easily navigate our environment on a daily basis without being bombarded every second by the constant information coming in through our five senses.

We could see how this could perhaps dull the shine on things, no? Even if we are aware this is happening, life can tend to get tedious and repetitive and this is why it’s so important to be present in every moment. This is, of course, no simple feat and takes quite the dedicated heart to be willing to commit to living a life where you are willing to walk the middle line of being the spontaneous “liver” along with the ever-conscious “observer”.

Living in a world of duality and consciously choosing to create another one in your mind could be considered a bit crazy. But walking a path of ignorance and never choosing to push yourself past your comfort zones leads to a path of regret. If we are honest with ourselves when we say we wish to grow and expand our consciousness in this lifetime so we better understand ourselves and others, then we will inevitably walk what I call the path of the Spiritual Warrior.

This path is one that isn’t clean and pretty, but alas covered in weeds and rocks and maybe even some vermin waiting to strike an unsuspecting ankle. But if we commit, come true and come through, this path leaves a trail straight to your heart that is unique to your Soul and your Soul only. And the more you walk it, the more you strengthen your “integrity muscle”. It will ultimately become easier to trust yourself and the choices you make in life…

Which brings us back to this moment. Isn’t it funny how many of us are never really “here”? We are either thinking about something that happened along time ago, torturing ourselves with painful thoughts of people that hurt us whom we may not have seen in years. Or we are wondering or planning for a tomorrow that may or may not ever come. But how often are we truly right here and now, in this moment? And when we are here, are we at peace? Perhaps if we were…we’d come around more often? 🙂

So, how to find peace in this moment and ultimately with who WE are right now, no matter what is going on (or not going on) in our lives? The key I’ve discovered that works best for me is simple acceptance. This is much different that “giving up” or enabling, but think of it more as letting go trustfully, surrendering, and allowing what is, simply to be, without judgment. When we can look at a situation without our judgments and reactions and see what is left sitting there, this allows for further clarity of the bigger picture.

And when we can see the bigger picture, we can not only see the path, but where it leads. This reduces the need to approach our next steps with fear. Instead we can make empowered choices and then step back and trust, and allow it unfold. This simple principle works just the same when we apply it to ourselves and our own life goals; no matter how big or small. A key factor is to always remember to be kind to yourself and to be patient.

As with Mother Earth, we all have our seasons that take us through cycles of change, transformation and growth. Sometimes the most wicked of storm produce the most gorgeous rainbows so don’t ever be afraid to KNOW how worthy you are of your own attention, your own commitment, and your own love.

Understanding the Order Within Chaos

Image result for order in chaos quoteIn the last month alone I’ve gone through what feels like perhaps the darkest night of my “dark night of the soul” and ya know what? I’m smiling about it.

No, I’m not crazy (well, maybe a tad, but the best ones are right?) I’m just learning how to fully appreciate the times in my life that stretched, pulled, poked, prodded, and what felt like tortured me.

When life throws a million tasks at us all at once, it’s easy to feel like we’re going to lose it, or that we should give up on certain things and focus more on others due to “lack of time”.  The thing is… we have time for the things we make time for; that’s how it works!

I often felt on certain days that there was no way I would ever get everything I needed to do completed on time. I wasn’t happy with some things and kept distracting myself and starting 10 things at once (my usual m.o.), but ultimately what helped me was walking away from it all together for a couple of days. Oftentimes we can become so immersed in one thing, in one project or hobby that we can’t see that we are blocking our own creative flow.

On days I started feeling doubt creep in and other low vibrational energies where my ego wanted to beat up on me, I just stepped away from it for a bit. I remembered why I was doing all of this soul-searching and shadow work…(because I freaking LOVE to learn and have a message to share with the world that can only be communicated through authentic experience!) and suddenly I could feel my heart reopen wide again. Being in your heart-space is vital to being able to t only function in, but also proactively navigate through chaotic situations in your life.

I also suggest avoiding worry! I know, easier said than done, right? But think for a moment what the act of worrying actually is doing. You are putting energy into imagining horrible, negative scenarios in your mind of what COULD possibly happen. You are putting creative, intentional energy into it whether you mean to or not simply because you are giving it so much attention and have so emotion behind it. If you are familiar with manifesting, you know these two elements are keys to successfully manifesting.

Instead, shift your focus and energy to what you DO want to happen. Or if your thoughts are on another person, perhaps a loved one you cannot stop thinking about, envision what you DO want for them. Don’t keep yourself up at night creating all of these horrible nightmare stories in your mind of realities that NEVER even existed until YOU created them in your mind! Realize that right away, stop putting energy into it and shift your perception onto what you DO wish to happen instead. THINK POSITIVE!

If you can, try and be around more uplifted people as well during times of chaos and change. These types of people will tend to be more understanding and supportive to what you are going through and will more than likely be there for you if you need anything. If you tend to hang out with people who never call you but only to complain about things they never even attempt to try changing, then these types of people will obviously only add to the chaos you are already experiencing.

Remember to not stress over that which you cannot control and to do the best you can to manage those things that you can. When we get caught up in “running the show”, we often feel like we are failing ourselves or our families if we cannot get every little thing done all by ourselves. And often times we may be too proud to ask for help. In these situations, it’s best to remember that families are also teams and work best together when all people are actively contributing their gifts in the ways they can that best support the group as a whole.

In the words of Bruce Lee “Be water, my friend.” Never forget that when life gets stressful and things get a little crazy, to just go with the flow. There is a quaint peace in surrendering and trusting in the Universe. I’m one of the most stubborn people on the planet, and when I finally took a leap of faith and let go, it was the most rewarding experience of my entire life. Everything you could ever want truly is on the other side of fear. We just need to remember that there is nothing to fear and then it’s funny, but life never quite seems as chaotic anymore after that.

When it Comes to Authentic Integrity, Stepping IN is the New Stepping Up

Image result for authenticityAnyone in the Spiritual Community has most likely heard the term, “ascension” a time or two. It is apparently the universal (no pun intended) term for the overall process that humanity is undergoing via this massive wave or shift in consciousness. But what never felt quite right to me with this was the feeling that I think so many of us can relate to; not feeling good enough right now, right here.

And ascension literally encourages a climb, a rise. And while it reflects the raising of one’s frequency that occurs naturally the more wisdom that one acquires and thus also amplitude one can hold, when you are attempting to already reach for a goal, it seems to only add to the pressure, and I honestly think that subconsciously holds so many of us back before we even get started.

I like to think of personal growth as more of a linear progression. A space that already exists that you simple step into. This is quite similar as to how I approach manifesting in that I use the visualization techniques of living “as-if” you already have that which you desire. In this case, it’s the same thing, but rather instead of this being a calling on the Universe, this is could be considered an answer to a calling from the Universe.

You can do this in a number of ways such as paying attention to all of those synchronicities appearing in your life as symbols and omens and little signs pointing the way to some pretty awesome stuff trying to make it’s way to you.

So often we curse the Universe, Source, God…(whichever label is most comfortable for you) for not delivering our wishes, answering our prayers…etc. but if we really step back and think about it, we are always given exactly what we BELEIVE. We can put out that we want this or that, but if we have a limited belief on what this or that looks like or are very limited on how we will allow it to come to us, then we are literally closing off ways for the Universe to deliver it to us.

It would be like placing an order and then calling UPS and being like, “Yeah I know I ordered it, but I’ll only accept it from a man named Brad and he’s gotta bring it on a Tuesday at 3:47pm wrapped in an orange bow or else forget it.” It makes it nearly impossible to meet your demands. So, manifesting can ONLY work when we put it out there, let it go lovingly and excitedly, and trust it will come back on the best way, at the best time, and in the best form for our highest good.

So, rather than having all of the lag, pressure, and oh-so-lovely self-loathing, guilt etc. that often accompanies those times you either don’t meet your milestones, catch yourself procrastinating, encounter anxiety or depression or manifest another pain/illness that distracts you from your purpose path, etc. we can get out of feeling like it’s always an uphill climb and so much work and begin to just realize that there’s nothing to do per se, but there’s simply so much to remember and realize.

And this is stepping into what I call your authentic integrity. Two more hot words in this community that have very key meanings and when coined together, I feel that it bring a new facet to what it means to being true to yourself. When most of us think of integrity, we usually consider what it is that people do for others that would determine them virtuous or not. But this also includes that which we do for ourselves, because one of the most precious lessons I’ve ever learned is that if you never learn to show up for yourself, love yourself, and take care of yourself, you simply cannot be fully present in that way for anyone else. At least not authentically. 🙂

How to Stay Connected to Your Purpose

"To live with courage, purpose, and connection - to be the person whom we long to be - we must again be vulnerable. We must ... show up, and let ourselves be seen." - Brene BrownI am a firm believer that one of the main causes of unhappiness, stress, chronic pain and depression are a within a realm of disconnection, the feeling being alone or separate, and not having a sense of purpose in life.

When we disconnect with our life stream, no matter how much we may have built up our identity or our sense of “self” (better known as the “ego”), we will always have that underlying pull from a place we can never quite describe and never quite ignore.

Image result for purpose connection

This place is our intuition or our Higher Self; i.e. the self with a capital “S”. Your Higher Self could be considered that untarnished voice deep within; the real you under all the labels, criticisms, expectations, self-imposed limitations, judgments, and even positive markers as well which while they can propel and motivate positive change if attached to work only to serve the ego or self with a small “s”.

Humans, in reality, (just as love is…) are a neutral energy when we are in alignment. Love is neither negative nor positive; it is all-encompassing and when we are balanced, we tap into this neutrality as well and experience a feeling of being what we might call energetically “centered” or “grounded”.

So, if we do happen to disconnect from our purpose in life, how do we reconnect and how do we stay connected?

Well, for one it helps to have a routine or some kind structure to your purpose; something that is tangible, that you can work and interact with. And then…let’s make like a “tiny dancer” and break it down! The smaller or one of my favorite terms EVER (the more “quantum”) we can make tasks we need to accomplish goals tied to our purpose, the more real it will feel, the more we will trust ourselves for showing up and setting achievable steps we can climb, and we’ll begin gaining the confidence to finally be okay with rewarding ourselves…and thus sparking a cycle of gratitude, which creates the space necessary to allow even more awesomeness to enter your life.

This routine, set of tasks, etc. honestly doesn’t have to be something material however, it can be an ideal that is so endeared to your heart that you don’t need to physically see or touch anything outside of you to connect to your purpose intertwined with that idea. And yes, sometimes people prefer something even less concrete and more spontaneous, and for them that IS their structure…as long as it is something that continuously keeps your creativity ebbing and flowing and your awareness in the know that this is all part of the process. And long as energy is MOVING…If it is merely a mantra you repeat to break a bad habit, and it works for you to do just that, then that is enough and serving YOUR purpose.

Image result for purpose connectionYour ego will fight to judge, criticize and bring up every reason you can’t do it or shouldn’t be doing it. It will do whatever it can to get you to STOP. The ego sees any sort of change as a threat or a literal message telling it that something is wrong with it. It will fight to the death to keep you the same and the trick is to simply step back and recognize that this is simply the role it plays and nothing more. Once we stop judging IT, we can begin to use it as a tool; and it immediately becomes one of the most powerful tools we are given in life.

You see, the ego, once we unattach the stigmas and preconceived notions about it, is really nothing more than a handy GPS system that gives us directions to those areas in our lives where we are avoiding. I know none of us want to hear that and guess what? That’s the ego acting as the damn gate-keeper, so tell him you appreciate him taking care of everything he has up to this point, but you got it now and from now on he’s to act as your confidant and give you clues to when you need to act and those clues will be clear and concise.

Now…you no longer have an ego that has all the power over your emotions and thus all the power over your conscious mind, but rather now you have someone showing you the hidden clues in the room. Your ego, in a sense, is giving you secret insider information so you can assess situations now with a broader understanding of your own role, the purpose of the experience in general and what it’s meant to teach you and others involved.

The ego also creates a space that allows you now to choose how to respond to the situation instead of emotionally reacting which we all know is just a fun barrel of monkeys to deal with when we end up saying and doing things we don’t mean in the heat of an argument, right?

So, I think we can all agree to make a small shift in our perspective on the ego and allow ourselves to take the reigns over the power it once had, it the first and vital step to clearing the way to not only finding your purpose in life but staying connected to it. And let’s face it, this brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, “Get over yourself!” LOL 😉

Intuition VS Ego: Why You Should Actually Listen to Both

When we think of someone being Egotistical, most of us might think of those types of people that tend to disregard the feelings of others and only think of themselves. And most of us would probably agree that those types of people are not the most pleasant to be around, however is it ever good to be Egotistical? Well, yes and no. The Ego in and of itself has gotten a seriously bad rep over the years, so I’d first like to take a moment to explain my take on the amazing tool I’ve come to discover the Ego to be, and to share so insight into how when used properly can send your life into a more positive direction, and not at the expense of anyone else.

I believe the Ego to be a navigation tool that can guide you in one of two ways. It can be the Captain of your ship or it can merely be the compass pointing the way. While the Ego strives to be in control and will fight to survive at all costs, if you are aware of it’s tricks, then it loses it’s power over you and can be simply observed and learned from. It is when we are unaware of what the Ego is capable of that we can get caught up in it’s tricks and illusions and this is when we’d find ourselves acting out in such a way of separation to make those around us feel less than or that we are somehow of greater quality, rather than seeing our fellow man equal in love.

If left on auto-pilot to tend to itself, the Ego will automatically assume the role of Captain and take over command of your ship, especially if you really know nothing more about the Ego, the Self, etc. We may even blow it off as our inner child simply having temper tantrums here and there, but even that’s a fine trick of the Ego.

If left to it’s own devices, the Ego can become one of the most chaotic and confusing things in your life. Especially if you have to deal with someone who has unconsciously let their own Ego run rampant and out of control. On the flip-side, however, the Ego can also be quite simplified and subjected to only a single role, and if used properly can be one of the best tools in your spiritual toolbox. That single role is that it can and will always show you those parts of yourself that still need to be looked at, healed and integrated into your heart.

To further clarify, if you have specific areas in your life that seem to be continuously out of whack or causing you issues, it is most likely that a core belief was formed early on in your childhood in that specific area that has formed some kind of block that is now causing an imbalance in your life. This is much easier to recognize when you find yourself asking, “Why does this keep happening to me?” It’s not so much that things just keep happening TO you, it’s that there is something stuck in a pattern that you have not quite learned from yet, and so it repeats.

What can be very helpful with untying the knots in these patterns we develop over our lifetime is learning the difference between the Ego and the Intuition. We are all told to listen to our “gut”, or our instinctual knowing otherwise known as our Intuitive voice, but why has the Ego always gotten such a bad rep? My take on it is that because we’ve not been taught how to see the entire spectrum of the Ego’s purpose.

See…we can be “in Ego” and not be harming ourselves or anyone else. When we learn to put our needs first in a healthy way, that is literally a healthy Ego. When we learn to say no when we mean no or finally say yes to a dream we’ve been putting off because we have lacked courage for so long, those are also examples of a healthy Ego.

As I mentioned previously, the Ego is not just in reference to when people are being un-courteous and un thoughtful towards others, that is only one facet of it. The Ego can also be used as a compass and when we let it guide the way through the healing process of our inner most buried pains, hurts, traumas, and negative core beliefs, the Ego can actually be a very good thing in our lives and a positive influence that will allow us to interact with those around us in a more “WE” centered way rather than a “YOU vs ME” view of the world.

When we’ve taken the time to heal, we are giving ourselves the greatest gift we can give; the gift of Self. What I mean by this is the gift of Self- Awareness, Self-Acceptance, Self-Knowing and most importantly, Self-Love. When we can see ourselves in the light of awareness, acceptance, knowing and love, the Ego becomes something completely different from the what we’ve been taught in the traditional sense. It becomes the greatest transformational tool we are bestowed with, and once we learn how to use it properly, the rewards it reaps will be everlasting in not only our relationship with ourselves, but in all of our relationships we have now and will develop in the future.
