Couples watching sports together can be fun. It builds their relationship and makes their bond stronger. If you're looking for different games you can watch, we've got you covered. Ryan at ATS.io recommends 4 sports you can enjoy watching with your loved one.
1. Football
There's no sport more perfect than football. Just get a couple of snacks or prepare some amazing food, wear matching clothes and just enjoy a laid back Sunday afternoon. On January 4th, the playoffs started, and with the Super Bowl just around the corner, there's no better sport to enjoy watching with your loved one other than football. Based on research from Marketing Charts, an average of 64% of Americans watch football. 55% of those are women and 73% coming from the male population.
Football has always been a crowd-pleaser, not just because of its fun environment, but it also encourages involvement from fans. Whether you're in the stadium or watching from home, you can cheer with excitement during good games, and yell in frustration during the bad ones – and no one will judge you for that. In fact, the appeal doesn't go away even on people who haven't watched a single game yet. They'll find themselves hooked and wanting to watch for more, which is pretty amazing. As a bonus, you get to laugh during the craziest gameplays and even watch a nice Super Bowl commercial. Since the game has multiple yet not overcomplicated rules, it's always intriguing to see how the game turns out.
2. Basketball
Similar to football, basketball is another crowd favorite, which couples can enjoy watching from the arena or straight from their home, with various levels available for you to enjoy. For couples, it is recommended that you watch college basketball together. The game itself is fun and fast-paced and fans can't help themselves but cheer for the team they're rooting to win. Why college basketball? Each year, they have an event called March Madness. Every March, 68 various college teams go head to head and fight their way for the championship. Whoever wins is declared the national champion. If you're competitive, you can have a challenge with your partner – fill out the brackets just for fun, determine who wins and who loses then you can both watch the entire competition and see whoever gets the closest guess. The great part of this aspect is you can compete with other couples too!
3. Soccer
Everyone knows what soccer is, and at one point in your life, you may have played soccer during primary school or high school. In fact, approximately 18 million people in the United States alone play soccer. 40% of those are from the female population and are considered to be athletes. This is a great game that you can enjoy with your partner because everyone may have played a game or two before, even if it's just in gym class. If you haven't, you surely know a person or two who has played it and watched one of his/her games before. Unlike other ball games, soccer doesn't have timeouts. Only the referee has the capability to stop the play. It's popular not just in the United States, but also in different parts of the globe. It's an amazing game for couples to watch, and it makes a great time to learn more about other countries' cultures too. One major event fans watch out for is the FIFA World Cup that takes place during June and July.
The FIFA event, which is held in Brazil this year, features 32 various teams facing each other battling for the World Cup. What makes this event one-of-a-kind is that it only takes place once every four years – unlike other ball games with major events occurring every year. It's a fun experience for couples to cheer for the US team or any other team you like for that matter.
4. Nascar
This last one might be a bit of a surprise for most, but surprisingly, Nascar has a good female audience, based on Bleacher's reports. Did you know that a whopping 40% of Nascar viewers came from the female community? Even though there aren't enough female race car drivers, the sport has captured the attention of women and has been proven to be enjoyable by both men and women. So if you're not into ball games as a couple, but you're looking for a sport to watch, this might be fun for you. You can even set and watch some races on-site to up the game and to bring more wonderful memories for both of you.
If you're far from the event or can't make it to the trip, watching from home is as good too. You'll find that there are amazing racers out there, partnered with a good fanbase. Everybody loves watching racing cars – who doesn't? The adrenaline rushing through your veins during that final lap is a wonderful feeling. One major league to watch out for is the Daytona 500. A 500-mile race that takes place in Daytona, Florida which usually starts in February. One of the best things about Nascar is that this sport takes place all-year-round, so you can never be late for anything.
