In the month of July both benefic planets, Venus and Jupiter, transit the last few degrees of Cancer, before they move into the sign of Leo. First, Venus will transit into the sign of Leo, late on July 4, 2015, followed by Jupiter shifting into Leo the evening of July 13, 2015.

As these two planets shift signs, they will be going from a water sign (Cancer) to a fire sign (Leo), through the critical degrees called gandanta (29 degrees Cancer to 1 degree Leo). Gandanta means “knot,” and when planets pass through these junctures we are given opportunities for deep soul growth.

Knots are not always easy to untie, and so the transits of Venus and Jupiter through these degrees trigger significant issues that we must not resist, or the “knots” gets tighter. By facing these issues directly, we can move to a new level of awareness.

Venus moves through the gandanta degrees of 29 degrees Cancer to 1 degree Leo from July 3 to July 7, indicating some challenges connected to Venus things, like personal relationships, self-love, and creativity can arise to be healed and understood. Be kind to yourself, and work with honesty and self-acceptance. Let go of old ways that hold you back, and embrace a new, more expanded mental attitude. Venus in the fire sign of Leo (from July 4 to August 13) brings generosity, warm-heartedness and loyalty, but watch for excessive demands for attention. Saturn in Scorpio aspects Venus in Leo at 4 degrees from July 12 to 14. This can bring more serious discussions about love and what we will commit to. Watch for any feelings of rejection to arise, and be open to heal any thoughts about our worthiness to be loved.

On the evening of July 13, 2015, an important transit occurs when the great, benefic planet Jupiter changes signs. Jupiter will bring its expansive energy from the sign of Cancer (where it has been since June 19, 2014) to the fiery, fixed sign of Leo, staying there until August 11, 2016. Jupiter stays in a sign a little over a year, so when Jupiter shifts signs it is quite significant.

Jupiter will go through the gandanta degrees of 29 degrees Cancer to 1 degree Leo from July 8 through July 18. So, like Venus’ transit, this is a period when long-held “knots” of misunderstandings arise that correspond to Jupiter significations, such as clarifying money or financial issues, re-defining our true values in life, and embracing our spiritual selves and trusting our innate wisdom. This is an opportunity for deeper changes to occur, so be patience, take action if needed, and be open to real transformation.

In general, wherever Jupiter is traveling in the zodiac, that location brings us happiness, expansion, and optimism. Now that Jupiter is in the fixed sign of Leo, this transit gives us the ability to grow in our perception of life, expanding our self-knowledge, even though we may at times want to hold on to long-held beliefs and opinions that no longer serve us, a characteristic of a fixed sign. Jupiter in the extroverted sign of Leo also brings more confidence and outgoing energies. We also want to be more self-expressive and creative. But watch focusing too much on ourselves, overdoing things, lacking proper perspective, or not seeing the consequences of our actions. We benefit most when we help and inspire others with genuine sincerity.

Jupiter in Leo will now be influenced by Saturn until August 11, 2016, which will temper its expansive nature, making Jupiter in Leo a bit more serious and responsible than usual. The Saturn influence on Jupiter can bring increased awareness of our obligations and duties to aid and support others. Saturn and Jupiter energies prompt us to be self-disciplined in managing and stabilizing our finances, or we can experience some restrictions and delays in this area.

On July 25, 2015 Venus, the planet that rules relationships, love, the arts, healing, and finance, goes retrograde until September 6, 2015. Generally speaking, Venus retrograde prompts us to re-examine our love relationships or how we love others. Do we wish to compromise or not? We rethink what truly has value to us. Concerns about self-worth come into play for us to heal. We might feel more emotional, sensitive and vulnerable with love at this time. Prosperity issues can also surface for re-evaluation. Past, unresolved issues about love and relationship arise to be faced and cleared. This is a wonderful opportunity to get clear about our true values in life, so this is probably not the best time to make important decisions about love, relationships, or finances, until after the retrograde is over (September 6), then we see we refreshed insight.

Note: Vedic astrology, the astrology from India, uses the sidereal zodiac, the zodiac of the fixed stars, which is based on a more accurate astronomical view of the planets in the sky.
