While the issue of police brutality has been a pressing one since many decades ago, but it has gained major traction after the murder of George Floyd. Apple, in its efforts to bring balance, has introduced a voice automated “I’m getting pulled over” shortcut.

The feature will allow people to record police officers discreetly. And Apple will automatically send the video recording and your location to a select group of your contacts.

The feature was created back in 2018 by Robert Paterson. Once installed, you can command Siri or tap on your phone once to activate the feature. The “I’m getting pulled over” command will pause any audio or video that you might have been watching or listening to at that moment.

The feature will also lower your phone’s brightness and volume. Your device will be put on Do Not Disturb mode, and the front camera will automatically start recording. An automated text will also be sent to your friends and family, along with your current location.

Moreover, the video will be automatically saved in your Dropbox account or iCloud Drive as a backup.

The 2020 version is an updated one. Earlier, the recording had to be done manually, which was a huge issue, especially during a tense situation. Now, the automated shortcut version 2.1 activates the feature by a user just saying, “I’m getting pulled over.”

Most of the shortcuts are usually pre-installed in IOS devices, so you might not even have to download it. But, just in case your device does not have it, you can download it from Apple’s App Store.
