Discover Your Chakra Type And Expand Your True Abundance

Free Chakra Abundance Audio Recording here.

There’s a big myth in the transformational world that I want to put to bed once and for all. It’s the idea that there are prosperity-boosting or personal growth techniques that work for everyone equally.

That’s a big fat lie. It’s just not true.

When it comes to personal transformation and the process of creating true abundance, ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL.

In fact, a technique that works for a person with one type of energy field may be the worst thing another type of person can do!

Take meditation, for instance. Meditation is a beautiful thing. So everyone thinks they “should” do it — lots of it. I’m certainly not going to say anything negative about it. It’s a generally good thing. But some people are already “meditating” 24/7. Some people are so oriented in the upper, most spiritual parts of their energy field that further meditation only causes them to be more imbalanced and to have more of the corresponding issues that come with being energetically off-balance. Those kinds of people should not be doing more meditating (and very cerebral people who use their meditation time to think more aren’t benefitting either).

And the opposite is true too. Some people really need to ground down in these fast moving times of ours. But there are other people who are already so grounded that they are bordering on (or experiencing full-fledged) depression. They have enough heavy, downward energy. If you tell them to do grounding exercises, you are compounding their imbalance

True abundance takes into consideration the entirety of our energetic experience. For instance, it isn’t just about being wealthy. We all know people who have lots of money, but are miserable. They may have lots of toys, but they likely do not have one or more of these: joy, great health, loving relationships and an enriched spiritual life.

Still, the importance of material prosperity cannot be ignored. We’ve all also know people who have a deep, spiritual life, satisfying relationships and good health, but can’t pay the rent or support their family and consequently feel disempowered some huge areas of their life.

Abundance means being empowered in ALL of our chakras. And the journey of becoming centered and empowered varies for each one of us, depending on our already-existing tendencies.

I’ve created a program called Chakra Abundance that helps you identify your specific Chakra Abundance Type , so you can engage in the right kinds of transformational practices that will center you more in yourself, rather than take you further off-center.

The video above gives you a glimpse of what it’s about. I hope it provides you with a clearer understanding of where your natural tendencies lie, and opens you up to new personal possibilities. There are three different Chakra Abundance Types identified in the video — Upper-Dominant, Lower-Dominant, and Split. Which do you think you are? One thing I forgot to mention in the video is this: none of us fit perfectly into any category ever (thank God!). We are always a unique mix, like for instance, mostly Upper-Dominant with a bit of Split. Still, using the categories can give you a sort of loose map that helps you on your journey of balancing your own energy.

My wish for you is that you expand into your fullest potential and experience all that you came here to do and be!

Love, blessings and total abundance,

Vicki

How Sex Differs Energetically for Men and Women and What to Do for Better Sex

Some chakra specialists say your sexuality resides in your first chakra, while others say it’s associated with your second chakra.

So which is it?

Really, it’s BOTH – and that’s probably why everyone is so confused.

There are really two distinctly different types of sexuality – masculine and feminine (and actually, many shades of gray in between). For our purposes here, we’ll talk about these two polar aspects. Masculine sexuality is rooted in the first chakra and feminine sexuality resides more in the second chakra.

Now notice I didn’t say “male sexuality” or “female sexuality,” but “masculine” and “feminine” sexuality. This is because I want to make a distinction between gender and archetypes.

In general, it’s better to talk about archetypes, since there are men who actually express more of a “feminine sexuality” and women who have more of a “masculine sexuality.”

Typically, though, a woman will express the feminine archetype, and a man will exhibit the masculine archetype. For this reason, I’m going to talk about men as masculine and women as feminine – with full awareness that I’m generalizing for our purposes here, and that there are certainly exceptions to the “rule.”

Masculine sexuality has a strong physical drive, and is singularly penetrative by nature. Feminine sexuality has far less drive and is receptive and other-oriented.

This has been shown through the administration of hormones to pre-op sex-change patients. Men who opt to change into women take female hormones and report a decrease in their sex drive, but an increase in their emotionality. And women who choose to become men take male hormones and generally report an increase in their sex drive.

The first chakra is about survival and basic instincts and drives, so sexuality is much more of a basic, physical need for men than it is for women. The second chakra is about flow and receptivity, duality and intimacy. For women, sex is less of a basic drive and more of a way to connect emotionally with another; a form of intimacy.

For a heterosexual couple to more fully experience energetic/spiritual connection during sex, they can learn to navigate into each other’s typical mode. A man can learn to move his sexual energy up into his second chakra and connect more deeply with his female lover. As he moves into his second chakra, some of his natural drive diminishes, and he becomes less goal-oriented and more sensitive to his partner’s needs, the intimacy and connection grow.

Quite interestingly, when he does this, his partner gets more aroused, and her masculine (first chakra) sexual drive kicks in more fully. Basically, as he begins connecting with her on her level, she naturally reciprocates and starts joining him on a deeper level of physical lust.

In some relationships, the male may actually exhibit the female needs and the woman may show more sex drive. In these cases, the roles described above might be reversed. But the point is still this — if each partner adapts to the other’s needs, they can co-create a sexual experience that includes the physical drive of the first chakra combined with the emotional intimacy and connection of the second chakra.

When they each come halfway, they meet in the chakra nexus –where the first and second chakras meet — and they create a powerful unified energy field that can then move up the chakras toward more and more ecstatic states, and sex becomes an immensely healing and pleasurable, spiritual experience for both partners.

7 Ways To Create More Love & Connection in Your Life

We humans have needs. Sometimes we like to think we don’t, but clearly we do. Life coach, Tony Robbins outlines six of them. His system, though, ignores our highest spiritual needs, so I have outlined seven — one of each energy center (chakra) in your body. When you fulfill all of your seven basic needs, your life feels balanced and complete. From this place of equilibrium, you can really soar.

I’ve created a 7-part vlog series on the basic needs of your chakras, so you can create a strong foundation for your true unfolding. Take a moment to really know these. They are the base of your authentic empowerment. In case you’re just now beginning this series, here are the first three installments:

7 Ways To Fulfill the Need of Your Root Chakra

7 Ways To Fulfill the Need of Your Sacral Chakra

7 Ways To Fulfill the Need of Your Solar Plexus Chakra

Today’s video is on the need of your heart chakra, love and connection. Since the heart chakra is your center chakra, it represents your truest essence and also, your biggest need. Studies have shown that babies need loving touch to thrive, but that’s no mystery, right? We can all feel the value of love. Our being seems to need it in a primal, essential way, like food and water.

Here are 7 really good ways you can fulfill the need of your heart chakra:

1) Give and receive hugs. My prescribed dosage is at least 10 a day. Hugging is awesome. It causes us to release the oxytocin which creates a natural kind of “high.” Make hugging a habit. It’s good for you, and for those you hug, which means it’s win-win.

2) Touch your heart space and recall a loving memory. When you recall it, you reconstruct it and bring that energy back into the present moment. Our bodies react to our imagination and memories as if they are real, so just remember love and connection can create a genuine sensation of it. You can think of a time you were loved, or a time when you loved another with all your heart. Thinking of a pet is really good because they love us so purely and unconditionally. If you want, you can imagine you have a volume dial, and actually “turn up” the feeling, making the memory more vivid and all-encompassing.

3) Do Ho-Oponopono Meditation. This form of Hawaiian meditation is a real heart chakra tonic. It has a way of clearing out any gunk that is stopping you from connecting to yourself and others, and it’s very simple. It consists of repeating these four powerful phrases:

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Try this Ho’Oponopono meditation I created for you.

4) Keep a gratitude journal. Gratitude opens the heart. Start each day by writing down 10 things you’re grateful for and you’ll begin each day with more love. Gratitude also improves your romantic relationship. Also, try doing this powerful gratitude practice.

5) Look everyone in the eyes. There’s a reason they say the eyes are the window to the soul. When you look lovingly into someone’s eyes, they feel genuinely seen. Make an intention to look into everyone’s eyes and see them more fully. You’ll feel a greater sense of connection.

6) Prioritize time with your loved ones. Often we say we’re too busy to spend time with the people we love most. Don’t fall into that trap. Life is short. And love is the greatest gift we get here. Make time for your loved ones. You benefit and so do they.

7) Wear my Chakra Boosters Healing Tattoo for the heart. If you don’t know about my tattoos or why they work, you may want to read this article about how and why I created them. One tip: wear the heart tattoo in front when you want to express more love and wear it in the back when you’re experiencing any grief and need some fourth chakra healing.

Of course, this list is in no way exhaustive, so feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments below.

Now, go out and create a week filled with love and connection!

xoxo,

Vicki

11 Easy Ways To Boost Your Sacral Chakra For More Joy, Sensuality & Ease

In a workaholic culture like ours, your second chakra energy is your lifeline. Your second (aka sacral) chakra is the orange, water-element chakra in your hips. It’s the home of your sensuality, playfulness, and ease. It’s the place from which you feel, rather than think, and it’s your pleasure center; the big “Ahhhhh” spot in your body.

If you work a lot, a robust second chakra can balance your workload and put you into a more joyful healing space. So, today, I’m going to share 11 ways to help you boost your second chakra. Read the list on this post to get all the ways, and watch the video to hear what happened when one of my clients wore my Sacral Chakra Tattoo.

Before you even read this list, I want you to commit to doing at least three of these Sacral Chakra activities in the next three days.

Deal?

Okay.

Here’s How To Put More Va-Voom Into Your Sacral Chakra:

1. Get a Swedish massage.

Notice I did not say Shiatsu. You don’t want anybody poking and prodding you. Unless of course, you find that extremely pleasurable and delicious. My recommendation is a soft, deep, flowing Swedish massage, with some aromatherapy mixed in.

2. Play with a kid. Or if no kids are around, grab a hula hoop and play on your own!

Playing with a kid will put you into your second chakra faster than anything. Kids are the pure embodiment of the playful energy of the second chakra. Focus on imagination games or highly physical ones like jump rope and hopscotch (cause you’re never too old to hopscotch!).

3. Eat or drink, orange sensual foods. Oranges and mangos are two excellent choices.

Chocolate is excellent too. It stimulates the pleasure centers in the brain that immediately put you into that yummy, second chakra zone.

4. Take a luxurious, hot bath.

Alone or with a partner. Make it an event. Take Your time. Use candles and delicious scents.

5. Get emotional.

Our busy day-to-day lives and our tendency to honor what we believe to be proper social decorum means we are usually stuffing our emotions pretty regularly. Built up emotional energy is never a good thing. So put some time aside to really allow yourself to feel. Tap inward and give yourself permission to feel and release whatever is there. Cry, scream, or just laugh aloud for no reason. Laughing is physiologically good for you! If you can’t laugh at will, then pull up some silly cat video on youtube and have a hearty chuckle.

sacral healing tattoo6. Wear A Second Chakra Boosters Healing Tattoo.

The tattoo is designed to boost your sacral energy – with it’s orange color, crescent moon, circular graphics, and sankrit symbol for the name of the name of the second chakra, it’s creates some powerful Divine Feminine energy. One client from Australia wrote me and shared an unsolicited story about how she wore my sacral tattoo and was inspired to pick up her paint brushes again after a 26 year hiatus.

7. Dance, especially in a sensual way, like belly dancing or pole dancing.

Google one of them, find a local class, and try it out. Why not?! You’ll definitely feel sexier and more alive afterward.

8. Wear orange, especially a soft, flowing fabric.

Silk, cashmere or faux fur are all good. Just choose what feels best on against your skin.

9. Draw or paint.

Or engage in any creative, artsy-craftsy thing at all. All forms of creative art stimulate the second chakra. Just make sure you color outside the lines (if there are any).

10. Enjoy a sensory deprivation tank.

Ironically, one way to feel more is to feel nothing for a while. Floating in a sensory deprivation tank is so womb-like and water-oriented that it may be one of the most quintessential sacral chakra activities. While in the tank, you feel nothing, so when you get out of it, you will feel everything and be more fully in your body. Check out the floatation tanks in Hove, provided by The Float Spa if you’re in the area.

11. Make love.

Take time to really truly connect with your partner. Before you even begin, talk about a few of the best times you’ve ever shared sexually. If you set the intention, this talking about your best memories will actually put you in the state of those times and increase the possibility of having another really great connection. Set aside the proper amount of time for it to be leisurely and deeply enjoyable. And if you don’t have a partner, make love with yourself. You know what you like better than anyone else.

Have you got more ideas on how to boost your second chakra? Please add them to the comments section below, so everyone can benefit. Also, if you wish to purchase some Sacral Chakra Healing Tattoos, you can do it here. Enjoy!

Love, joy and blessings,

Vicki

You’re Braver Than You Think ~ A New Perspective On Courage & Personal Growth

Audio excerpt from Vicki Howie’s Live Online 7-Week Chakra Abundance Course. (Click link to hear a full 60-min. audio)

Sometimes in spiritual communities, we have a tendency to talk so much about love and light that we skirt around the obvious discomforts that come with personal growth.

The fact is, our spirit loves change, but our body doesn’t. It’s set up for homeostasis. It has all kinds of regulatory processes that are meant to stay consistent, like our temperature with it’s reliable 98.7 degrees and our blood pressure, heart rate, and white cell count (just to name a few), all striving to stay positively consistent.

The body doesn’t like change, and the spirit doesn’t like sameness. It’s a wonder these two aspects of ourselves can even cohabitate.

What this means is our spirit is drawn into newness and growth experiences while our body will often find these things downright scary, and seek to avoid them all together. So, to truly grow and evolve, we need to work with the scared, human aspect of ourselves and consistently take committed, courageous action.

Being a bit of a personal growth addict, I’ve stepped up a lot in my life, and I used to think that I wasn’t courageous, because when I’d step up, I’d usually be terrified. But eventually, it dawned on me: fear is not evidence that you lack courage, it’s proof that you HAVE courage. Because if you’re not scared in a situation, it doesn’t take courage to step into it.

Fear is a pre-requisite of courage. You must have fear or you have nothing to overcome and be courageous about. In other words, if you’re not afraid, no bravery is needed. It’s just a walk in the park. No biggie.

In my years of life coaching, so many of my clients have felt the same way – like they weren’t courageous simply because they felt afraid. And of course, as they defined themselves this way, they became less likely to take brave actions. So I want to break two myths right now: First that spiritual growth should always be easy-breezy and filled with light and love, and second, if we feel afraid when we do something, then we aren’t being courageous.

Both of those assumptions are a bunch of hooey.

Personal transformation – especially the big kind – can be rough. It’s based on moving into the unknown and the unknown is always harder to deal with than the familiar.

And, as I’ve already pointed out, you need fear to be courageous. So the more you feel fear and still choose to take action, the more courageous you are. Courage is an action more than a state of being. It is doing what you know you need to do even if it scares you.

One thing that helps me a lot on my transformational path is to remember that although something may look and feel unfamiliar on the outside, our true growth is always unfolding from within us.

Think about the little caterpillar who is going to transform into the elegant butterfly. There is almost no apparent similarity between these two versions of the same little being. Still, the butterfly is actually inside the caterpillar all along. Whatever I am evolving into is already inside of me, and whatever you are evolving into is already inside of you too. In all the mystery that personal evolution entails, I find that comforting and hope you do to — your future self is already a seed within you. If you commit to your path and keep stepping up courageously, it will gradually be revealed and you will fly.

8:8 Lions Gate! Exciting Energy Forecast for August 2019

Video Source: chakraboosters

Hello Beautiful Soul (aka Spiritual Warrior), Did you take a courageous journey through Mercury Retrograde and your own “underworld” last month? I hope so!

Because, if you did, you’re ready to look at and celebrate all that you excavated. The brilliant Leo light of August gives you the perfect light perspective for the job.

This month, the moon, sun, and stars are all aligned to help you shine brighter and more true to yourself than ever before.

If you didn’t see last month’s video, you can watch it here.

We have two new moons this month which signifies a month full of possibility. Officially, if you live in the U.S., the first moon falls on the evening of the last day of July (the 31st) at 8:11 pm Pacific (which is 11:11 Eastern!).

Here are the key lunar/astrological dates for August:

New Moon in Leo on July 31 @ 8:11 pm Pacific

Lion’s Gate Portal on August 8

Full Moon in Aquarius on August 15 @ 5:29 am Pacific

New Moon in Virgo on August 30 @ 3:38 am Pacific

On the new moons, set some strong, personal intentions, especially around the theme of the zodiac sign that it’s in. Or in the case of a Leo full moon, you may actually want to take an ACTION, since Leo is all about taking bold steps forward.

And on the full moon, check-in to see how your intentions are coming to fruition. You may also want to look back exactly six months as well because at that time there was a new moon in the SAME sign. You may find that some sweet six-month cycle of some sort has completed without you even being consciously aware of it.

On August 8 (8/8), we’re going to experience something very special — the Lion’s Gate Portal. The LGP is an extremely auspicious astrological convergence of Sirius A, the sun and the moon.

I love the symbolism of this. Sirius A is the brightest star in the sky and it’s helping to initiate your solar plexus and third eye energies so you can shine bright. When it aligns with the sun and the moon, it creates a portal of energy that helps your energy naturally ascend and allows you to step into your highest possibilities.

Please make sure you consciously celebrate this lucky, light-filled day!

In short, August feels sooooo delicious! My guides gave me all sorts of great metaphors to share with you, so I hope you’ll watch the video above and make the most of this positive, loving and courageous month.

And if you’re willing to be bold, please share what your Leo-is intentions are for August (and SHARE this video).

Thanks, love, and blessings,

Vicki Howie

Your Energy Forecast for July 2019 – Big Shifts, Tests and a New You

Video Source: chakraboosters

July 2019 is not for the faint of heart. It’s a big robust month that includes two eclipses and three weeks of that trickster Mercury in retrograde.

Watch the video above to get an idea of what I mean.

In short, July is big, very BIG.

It’s important that you step into it with a certain level of anticipation and excitement. Anything less, and you may default to either of its lesser cousins anxiety or fear. And that’s not near as much fun!

In the video above, I give you the key dates for this month’s new and full moons, the full solar eclipse, the partial lunar eclipse and the long period of Mercury retrograde.

I also share the 3 key themes that my guides illuminated and I give you some ideas as to how you can make the most of this big energy month.

What are the most predominant energies? Fire and water. This relates to solar plexus chakra (fire) and sacral chakra (water) and if you bring both of them to the table, you’ll get steam!

Also, you’re going to be tested on your hero’s journey. The sun’s going to experience a full eclipse, and in line with that, we’re all going to be invited into the cave or underworld of our past — or what still may challenging us.

If you step in bravely, torch in hand, you’ll likely find that by month’s end you’ll be closing some very old chapters — for good!

And out of this closure, you’ll finally be birthing a whole new self that you’ve been intuitively working toward for the past six to nine months.

Up until this month, your new, emerging self-concept was more ephemeral than real. But if you stay present, loving and focused, in July, you’ll see this new you become tangible.

The change may feel a bit awkward (as newness always does), but it’ll be a real indelible part of you — in your bones.

Watch the video above and feel into the subtle and not-so-subtle ways you can move toward this inevitable birth of your next incarnation, Dear One.

Oh, and here’s something I forgot to say in the video: Try not to get too serious about the big energy-ness of this month. Instead, I invite you to make this spiritual “adventure” as much fun as possible.

Science has shown that we learn and grow much more quickly when we’re enjoying ourselves.

So enjoy!

June Energy Forecast with Vicki Howie

Video Source: chakraboosters

Dear One, I love the energy of this month! On June 3 at 3:01 am Pacific, we have a Gemini full moon, which means it’s a great time to set powerful intentions around the following themes:

Communication

Mind/Ideas

Duality

Travel

In the video above, I give examples of a couple different types of intentions you may want to set around each theme.

Watch it and choose which one (or max two!) that feel(s) best for you.

Then check in with the Sagittarius full moon on June 17 at 1:31 am Pacific to see if at least the first phase of our intentions have come to fruition.

You can also check in with the Gemini full moon that takes place approximately 6 months from the Gemini new moon to see the progress or fruition of bigger intentions.

Keep in mind that this “3” numerological year is also inviting us to keep taking forward-moving action, even though we can’t really see what’s around the corner. There’s lots of mystery right now, so you’re just going to need to step out in faith.

Also, my guides are telling me to continue our recent themes of dropping the drama, setting healthy boundaries and being very loving and supportive to yourself.

Keep expanding, Beautiful Soul!

Tap on THIS to Open Your Crown Chakra

Video Source: chakraboosters

Welcome to the final vlog post for this series where we’re tapping on the #1 shadow quality of each chakra.

If you haven’t done EFT before, check out the #1 Root Chakra Quality Video for this series to learn how to do it. It’ll also help you understand why integrating your shadow is great for releasing chakra blocks.

And here are the other chakra videos for this series:

Root EFT (for money, career, home, and overall health)
Sacral EFT (for better relationships, sex, emotional health and joy)
Solar Plexus EFT (for more confidence, motivation, energy, and clarity)
Heart EFT (for more love, compassion, gratitude, and forgiveness)
Throat EFT (for more expression, authenticity, purpose, and honor)
Third Eye EFT (for more intuition, ESP, fairness, and equanimity)

This playlist is helpful to watch as well: Healing Your Chakras with Shadow Integration.

We’re now at the highest and final chakra, the crown. This is the energy center that is just above the top of your head, which means it’s not embodied. And it fittingly relates to your connection to Universal Intelligence/The Divine.

It’s the chakra that actually represents a spectrum of color, rather than a single color. Where the crown chakra is closest to our physical body, it is violet and from there it moves upward and eventually turns pure white, the color of the spirit, and also the color that contains all other colors (just as the crown contains all the other chakras).

Sometimes, we close our crown chakra because we’re afraid that if we have too much openness to the Divine, possibilities or even miracles, we won’t be realistic and will be unable to deal with the ‘real world.’

For that reason, I’ve chosen “unrealistic/dreamer” as our crown trait to tap on.

Ironically, once you tap on this, you should find it easier to experience both ends of the energetic spectrum — from being a grounded realist to being a faithful dreamer.

And if you tap on the other four crown shadow qualities that I mention at the end of the video, you will open your highest chakra and your relationship with the Divine even further.

Enjoy!

Boost Your Joy, Passion, Courage & Purpose With “The Invitation”

In this post, I’m simply sharing the poem, “The Invitation” by Oriah Mountain Dreamer with you in both video and written form. I hope it’s just what you need to read/hear/see. Please listen to it often to feed the passion and purpose within you. And share it as a gift too. Pass it on, so we can all remember together what really matters. May your spirit soar! Love and blessings, Vicki

The Invitation

By Oriah Mountain Dreamer

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it, or fade it, or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own; if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. If you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty even when it is not pretty every day. And if you can source your own life from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, ‘Yes.’

It doesn’t interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

6 Excuses Your Ego Makes To Sabotage Your Spiritual Growth (Video)

Part of growing as a spiritual being is to be aware of the parts of us that DON’T want to change and grow. Our bodies are set up for homeostasis — and so is our ego identity. Throughout your life, your are growing and changing, but you still think of yourself as “I.” Your ego, the “I” part of you typically has a negative, knee-jerk reaction to anything that lies outside your comfort zone. Over time, it can be coaxed into cooperating with the process of transformation, but until it operates on that level, you need to beware of the ways it can trick you into not taking on the challenges that are best for your personal expansion.

In this video, I share 6 sneaky ways your ego tries to sabotage your self-growth. See which of these are most familiar to you — and make sure not to “fall” for them next time. A questioning mind is an expanding mind!

6 Excuses Your Ego Makes to Avoid Transformational Opportunities

1) I need to (over) think about it.

Yes, you do need to do a little research for most big decisions. You probably want to weigh your options. But at some point, thinking you have to think about it more and more is just your ego’s way of avoiding making a decision and taking action.

2) I tried it and it didn’t work.

If you say this, ask yourself how hard you tried on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 being very little and 10 being the absolute maximum). I find that when my clients use this, they typically haven’t tried very long or very hard. If you tried something with all your being, then this statement may be the truth, but in most cases, I find that the ego makes a cursory stab at something, just so it can say this and dismiss taking on the bigger task (or transformational journey) being considered.

3) This is stupid.

There’s a little reverse psychology going on here. When I hear this one, it’s usually coming from somebody who’s intimidated. Instead of admitting that the path in front of them is a little scary or overwhelming, they dismiss it with a blanket judgment about how dumb it is. The default mode for the ego (which is different than a deeply conscious ego) is to keep things under control and to make itself feel superior. Your spirit, on the other hand, couldn’t care less about your status or who’s in charge. Your spirit just wants to play and grow, so beware of this trap.

4) I’m waiting for the perfect moment.

You may not say verbatim that you are waiting for the perfect moment. More likely, you’ll say something like, “I’m waiting until… (fill in the blank). It could be when you graduate, get a different job, find a different partner, have more money, lose more weight. Whatever it is, it is an excuse, plain and simple. NOW is the only moment you ever have and it is always “perfect.” Likewise, the perfect timing you think you’re waiting for will never come. It. Just. Won’t. Come. Admit it. Deep down, it’s just another one of your ego’s excuses to not actually step up and start creating what you really want right NOW.

5) I can’t.

This is a popular one many of us pull out when we’re afraid to step up to the next level. But the truth is nobody can do something right from the start. So if you’re ego uses this as an excuse, just remember that it’s a totally normal thing that you can’t NOW. That’s why you are stepping up to learn or transform in some way — so that you can learn how you can. Most of us have the bad habit of assuming that if someone is good at something, it comes to them naturally. I’ll never forget when I went to a small Picasso museum in Arles, France and saw the artist’s earliest sketches. They genuinely sucked — dozens of drawings that were dreadfully bad. I could doodle better than that! So how did Picasso become, well… Picasso? He never said “I can’t.” He just kept drawing and drawing and drawing until he was one of the best. “I can’t” should never be an excuse to not do something, because with dedication and practice, we can develop almost any skill over time.

6) I don’t have the resources (money, time, etc).

You can always find a way to do what you really want to do. When it comes to transformational opportunities, the ego likes to make you think that there is some sort of external lack that is stopping you from stepping forward. That way, you can say you “would” step up if you “could.” Don’t buy into that. You always can. Think of a time in your life when you were really resourceful and, against all odds, you made something happen. When you hear yourself making resource excuses, one of two things is happening: either you don’t really want to do the thing you say you want to do, or your ego is sabotaging you. If it’s the latter, fight back. You’re ridiculously resourceful. Challenge yourself and make the thing you want to happen happen!

I’m sure this is not an exhaustive list of the ego’s tricks, but these are the ones I hear pretty frequently, so knowing them should give you a leg up on your transformational path. If you know of some good ones that I didn’t include, by all means, please share them in the comments section below so others can benefit from your experience.

Stay true to your path!

Love and blessings,

Vicki

Why Crystals Heal & Which Ones To Use for Chakra Balancing

Laying gemstones on the body for healing purposes has been practiced across numerous cultures for thousands of years. But why? What could a seemingly inert stone possibly do that could benefit the body?

The answer lies in a scientific phenomenon called the piezoelectric effect. To avoid getting into too much technical jargon, you can best understand the piezoelectric effect by considering a quartz watch. When slightly bent, a small piece of quartz puts out a constant voltage that keeps a watch running with phenomenal accuracy.

Crystals and gemstones do the same for us. They put out a small, charge that interacts with our biomagnetic field and creates more harmony and balance.

Related Article: These 7 Crystals Are All You Really Need In Your Collection

Every stone has a unique vibration, just as every person does. For this reason, the particular stones needed for balancing the chakras will vary somewhat from person to person. For this reason, you see a lot of different suggestions across various chakra books.

The best way to determine if a particular gemstone is good for you or for a specific chakra is to “test” it by placing it on your body and checking in with your body’s subtle (or sometimes, not-so-subtle) response.

chakra stones You may even want to have a friend place different stones on your body while your eyes are closed, and determine which ones feel the best on each chakra.

Always trust your body’s response. If a stone feels bad on the body, remove it – unless you recognize that “bad” feeling as a clearing, and feel an instinctive desire to stay with the stone.

A very simple, but generally good rule for chakra balancing is that if a stone is the color of the chakra, it’s good for boosting and balancing that chakra. Hence, the first chakra stones tend to be red-toned, the second chakra stones orange-toned, and so on. Certain stones, like quartz, come in many different hues and can be used for all of the chakras depending on its shade.

When picking which gemstones to use for each chakra, secondary colors should be considered. Two common ones are: black for the root chakra and pink for the heart chakra.

This does not mean that every stone that heals a particular chakra will be the primary or secondary color of that chakra. There are exceptions. Still, there is so much correspondence between the gemstones’ color and the chakras they balance, that it is a great “rule of thumb” – especially for anyone who doesn’t know a lot about rocks.

The One Fear You Have To Overcome To Find Your True Path To Freedom

A few years back, I hated the word “commitment.” It felt heavy and ugly. In fact, to me, it seemed like a dirtier word than many that start with an “F.” These days, I see the same tendency in many of my life coach clients, and my most spiritually-inclined friends. So I think it’s time to give commitment a little positive PR in the hopes of making it more attractive and user-friendly. Because if you want to be truly free, in the most spiritual and mature way, then you need to get over your commitment-phobia (believe it or not there is no nice latin-based word for this all-too-common affliction).

First of all, I want to point out that many people talk about commitment as if it is one thing, but really it’s many things, depending on what you’re committing to. For instance, if I commit to doing yoga every day, that’s (generally) a good commitment. But if, on the other hand, I commit to eating three hot fudge sundaes every day, that’s (generally) not a good commitment. The former will probably lead to more freedom of body and spirit, and the latter will probably cause a lot of weight gain and a sundry of ailments from diabetes to clogged arteries.

Since commitment-phobes tend to think of all commitment as bad. For this discussion, I’m going to separate the “good” from the “bad” and only talk about commitment to something that is good for your mind, body and/or soul. These kinds of commitments lead to true freedom. That is not a typo, I did indeed write that commitment leads to freedom; true freedom.

So then what is true freedom?

It’s not always easy to define, but I can definitely tell you what it is not.

True freedom is not the process of running away from anything. Many people spend their lives avoiding commitment and responsibility in the name of what they call “freedom.” But it’s not freedom they’re tapping into, as much as a fear of whatever it is they are unwilling to commit to. Anytime you are running away from something, that running is based at least partially in fear.

True freedom – both inside and out – is based on a solid foundation. From that strong place, you can move anywhere; not as a reaction, but as a pro-active choice.

I totally understand why many people feel that making commitments – even good ones — limits their freedom, because it can, and sometimes does. But what’s more important and what most people don’t understand is that commitment can actually lead to freedom. That’s right. The most authentic kind of freedom comes from commitment. It is birthed out of commitment.

Commitment is like the rock in the image above. Committing to something in a solid way, creates the kind of freedom the climber in the photo feels. He wouldn’t get to experience that freedom without his commitment to good training as well as to the rocks and ropes that give him his foundation and safety.

One of my favorite analogies for understanding the commitment-freedom relationship is to think of a big, strong, resplendent tree. It has a lot of freedom at the top where it’s branches blow and move in the breeze. But that freedom and those dancing branches grow out of the tree’s roots, burrowed deep in the earth, fully committed.

The trees roots are actually the source of the freedom. In fact, the more roots and grounding a tree has, the taller — and more free — it can be. The same is true of a tall building. In the best case scenario, I believe this is the way we humans can use commitment – to find our most authentic and widest reach. And I don’t know if there is any freedom that is more expansive than our ability to be our full, magnificent selves.

When it comes to our energy systems, we humans are actually a lot like trees. We need roots and grounding. Without them, we feel lost, alone and/or lacking purpose. With them, we can spread our wings – that is, develop our authentic freedom — and still know we have a safe place to land.

Both commitment and freedom are important. They actually represent the full expanse of our chakras. Commitment is based in our (lowest) root chakra and freedom is based in our (highest) crown chakra. When we experience both, and stop seeing them as a trade off for one another, then we get to live in our full energetic field and personal power.

If you’re a recovering commitment-phobe, do a little exercise this week. Make a few little commitments and keep them. Making and keeping some small, positive commitments, will give you a sense of accomplishment and self-mastery that will make you more and more enthusiastic about committing to commitment. That’s how I grew into a commitment-lover and a first chakra gal.

Well, that, and getting a real first chakra tattoo.

If you know my personal story, then you know that I actually grew my commitment enough to get a permanent first chakra tattoo on my tailbone area. So much freedom and authenticity have grown out of me making that one big commitment. But getting a real tattoo is a really, really big (hard to reverse) commitment, so if you want to experience wearing a root chakra tattoo, perhaps you should start with my temporary Chakra Boosters Healing Tattoos™ and get my Root Chakra Booster Healing Tattoo™.

Ironically, although it’s temporary, it will boost your ability to commit to other things in your life.

May you have a week of awesome commitments!

Lots of love and oodles of well wishes,

Vicki

Open Your Crown Chakra with This Powerful, Simple Technique

https://youtu.be/7RuPAHDi8Sk

It’s easy to forget that we are not this body. Yes, we inhabit a body, and it is an expression of our energy, but behind it all, we are consciousness; we are spirit. We come from divinity, and our essence is just that – purely divine.

My video this week is about balancing our crown chakra (7th chakra) and remembering our true essence by using simple Transformational Power Questions. This is the last video in a 7-chakra series, so if you’ve missed any of the previous ones, you can check them out here:

Heal Your Root Chakra with TPQs

Heal Your Sacral Chakra with TPQs

Heal Your Solar Plexus Chakra with TPQs

Heal Your Heart Chakra with TPQs

Heal Your Throat Chakra with TPQs

Open Your 3rd Eye Chakra with TPQs

Most of the chakras are about many different qualities. Not so for the seventh. It is about one thing and one thing only: your connection to the divine. You are a slice of god. This means you are all-knowing, all-blissful and connected to everything.

The seventh chakra is named “sahasrara” in Sanskrit, which means “thousand fold” and is referring to the unending lotus petals within you that can blossom in any moment.

So, the TPQs for this chakra are short and simple and they all lead to the same thing – our remembrance of our divine connection to all.

Here they are:

 • Why am I so aware that I am spirit? Why am I more and more aware that I am spirit?
 • Why am I so connected to everything?
 • Why am I so connected to God?
 • Why am I pure divinity?
 • Why do I feel more connected to source every day?

That’s our final set of TPQs. Hopefully, you’ve made the whole journal with me and have experienced some shifts each week. My suggestion for you now is to focus on one chakra that you feel is weak and do the TPQs for that one only, until they become an accepted part of your inner dialogue.

If you’re not clear which of your chakras or strong and which are weak, I have a favorite test online that I find to be particularly accurate if you answer all the questions quickly and honestly. It’s actually the only written test I’ve found that I trust, and I use it with my clients. You can take it here.

Keep expanding into your full energy potential, beautiful one.

Love and blessings,

Vicki

Why Affirmations Can Be Bad For You (and What To Do Instead)

Video Source: chakraboosters

Affirmations have long been one of the staples of the new age. There has been an assumption that if you want to grow in a particular area, repeating positive affirmations will help you do just that.

At the risk of creating controversy, I want to challenge that assumption. I believe that not only are affirmations often not affective, but they can even make a situation worse.

Now, let me start by putting out this disclaimer: If you do affirmations regularly and you’ve gotten great results, then obviously they work for you. You can basically ignore what I’m about to say. But if you’ve used them and never really seen any results, then read on.

You see, you have two basic parts to your mind, your conscious, and your subconscious. Which mind do you think has more effect over your day-to-day actions?

Related Article: 10 Affirmations to Surrender Your Problems to the Universe

If you answered “subconscious,” you’re correct. It’s pretty much universally agreed that the subconscious mind is the main driver of human behavior. While we may think that we rationalize and make our decisions from our logical, conscious mind, what typically happens is we first make a decision from our subconscious mind, and then find conscious reasons to support it.

In any case, the subconscious is the real driver.

Unfortunately, while affirmations positively engage your conscious mind, they often negatively engage your subconscious mind, the part of your mind that is more in control of your behavior. It works like this.

You have an area of you life you want to improve, like you’re sick and you want to feel healthy.

So you form a positive affirmation about it. “I am healthy.”

Now, if you have a chronic disease or a bad pain problem — the very reasons why you want to be healthier – it may be really hard for you to believe this affirmation. If you listen inwardly, you may discover that your subconscious mind is actually talking back and arguing with this positive, conscious affirmation. It may say things like, “No you’re not.” “You’re in pain.” “Who are you kidding?”

Sound familiar?

I’ll bet it does. I’ve been asking my life coach clients to listen to their inner, reactive voice and tell me what it says, and they keep reporting these same simple negation phrases over and over.

Obviously, this can be a big problem, because as I already said, your subconscious mind is the one that controls more of your day-to-day choices and actions.

So we need a tool that positively engages the subconscious mind.

That tool is empowering questions. You’re subconscious mind is like a curious child. It loves questions. It engages with questions. It acts on questions. So the first thing you can do to make an affirmation more empowering to your subconscious mind is turn it into a question like this:

Why am I healthy?

You can probably already feel how that has more engagement and power than the original affirmation. Noah St. John calls this kind of statement an “afformation.”

Related Article: 4 Ways to Make BETTER Affirmations

I definitely prefer an afformation to an affirmation, but I don’t think it’s quite enough. The majority of my clients say their subconscious mind still argues with these kinds of affirmations.

Why does this happen? One big reason is because the statement is still using the unchanging “I am” and as physical beings, we are always expanding, progressing, becoming. There is no “am” because even as we say it, we are in transition. We are moving energy, constantly changing. And when we want to positively transform some aspect of our life, it helps to remind ourselves of this. Of course, we can change, we ARE change itself. Just as a tree is constantly growing, so are we.

So, the next step to creating an Empowering Question is to form the question in a progressive way like this, “Why am getting healthier?”

Now, if even that is hard for your subconscious mind to accept, then you can add a softener like “gradually” and you get, “Why am I gradually getting healthier?”

You’re creating ways for your subconscious mind to believe that you’re moving in a positive direction in whatever area you wish. And you’re allowing it to do it in daily baby steps – which is the organic way in which natural things actually progress.

Gardens don’t grown overnight. They grow gradually over time. And so do we. And it’s this growth, this progress – not some ideal end state – that makes us feel empowered, happy and alive.

So, just to summarize, here are the steps for changing an affirmation into an Empowering Question:

 1. Choose the affirmation : I am wealthy.
 2. Make it a why question: Why am I wealthy?
 3. Make it progressive: Why am I getting wealthier all the time? (Why are my finances improving?)
 4. If it’s needed for you to feel it in your bones, slow it down, by using “gradually.” Why am I gradually getting wealthier?” (drop the “gradual” when it no longer feels needed).
 5. If you’re repeating several Empowering Questions consecutively, pause after each one so your subconscious mind will have space to consider and create it’s own, positive answers.

Now remember, the only way any technique can work is if you use it, so test it out. Pick one or two Empowering Questions to do this week and repeat them several times throughout your day. Then check in at the end of the week to see how that area of your life has positively shifted. Enjoy!
