In Bolivia, they just passed “The Law of Mother Earth” which recognises Gaia as a ‘living, sentient being that deserves the right of life’.
Open: Have you seen the film “The Theory of Everything” yet, the story of the genius Stephen Hawking? It’s an absolutely wonderful film, which to me, speaks on many levels. Not least is it an incredible story of the challenges a soul can thrive through (in the form of motor neuron disease), but it’s also a compelling love story, and as well, points towards the marriage between science and spirituality. It’s an epic, a must see. Personally, I believe that by integrating science with spirituality, it’s possible to have a full, experiential realization of the nature of the universe. I wonder if it’s possible without that? This film, for me, dares to bring one to the edge of that realization… –
The facts are increasingly stacking up that civilization and our biosphere are in terminal decline; it’s just happening in slow motion, so that in these early stages, it’s possible to ignore for a while the magnitude of what’s taking place all around us. We need to get real. We need to open our eyes and embrace the truth. Because only the truth can set us truly free. What’s needed now is a wide scale Spiritual Realignment. Global greenhouse gas emissions during the last ten years have been the highest in Human History according to a leaked report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Without drastic action, ‘temperatures will increase by 4 to 5 centigrade that could reap devastating effects on the planet’ they said. Personally I don’t see the global population being able to respond quickly enough. That said, I am an optimist, because I believe in realignment; in that the earth has a resilient, self-regulating eco-system. When challenged in this way, she may take a little time, but make no mistake, she will respond.
