Quantum Living 101: Don’t Just Collapse the Wave, Learn to Ride it First

In fact, QM goes so far to state that reality doesn’t even exist until it’s measured; that is until it’s observed!

In more complicated terms, this is described as collapsing the quantum wave or determining the absolute state of matter, as we now know that electrons can and do exist simultaneously as waves and particles. Furthermore, QM tells us that all states of are actually occurring all at once as waves of probability, until they are observed. Observing collapses the wave and chooses a state or outcome. Let’s call it the process of cosmic decision making at the quantum level.

So, how can we take Quantum Wave Theory and apply it to our everyday lives? Well, while I don’t (yet, I swear I will someday!) hold a degree in Theoretical Physics, I love taking lessons from the quirky world of Quantum Mechanics and seeing how the miniscule world of energy can teach me how to live a happier life. And you know what? It has taught me more than I ever thought possible when it comes to just…simplifying.

See, sometimes in life we can overwhelmed with choices that can literally tear us apart inside. Do we stay in a the job we hate because it pays well and provides security for us and our family is a great example! Taking any leap of faith is going to be one of the toughest choices you will make, but until you do imagine a million other possibilities just hanging around in limbo. I’ve always used this as motivation whenever I’m tempted to worry about the “what-if’s”. I suggest turning the worry around from a place of fear and trying to look at the act of having to make choices from a place of excitement instead; this helps immensely with overwhelm and feelings of burn out.

We begin to learn it’s not always a matter of just making the choice, but learning to ride the wave of possibilities as well so we know for sure which choice is absolutely best for us. When we do that, we gain confidence and trust in ourselves and over time this only makes the decision process simpler because we are literally exercising our trust muscles by showing ourselves we are there for US!

I believe that this is one of the main reasons so many of us have such a hard time collapsing that wave and making the hard choices in life. It’s not so much a fear of the unknown per se as it is a fear of letting go of what we know and what we’re comfortable with. Our ego absolutely hates change and will do whatever it can to avoid it and keep you convinced you need to keep things exactly as they are ALL THE TIME. But if you are wise and keep your eyes open, you will begin to lean towards the things you fear to do, because you begin to realize that there is where your greatest growth lies.

And that is a big part of learning to ride the wave as well; when we can challenge ourselves to step out of proverbial box and comfort zones we are saying yes to life and telling the Universe we’re open to expansion and willing to hold a bigger space in our lives. Then, and only then can bigger and better things come in! We may not all be born professional surfers, but no matter where we are at any time on our spiritual journey, if we surrender, we float.
